Chapter 2444 Unyielding to the Death

The old lady was whipping him with great force, and Ye Hua covered his head to avoid it. Unlike before, he didn't beg for mercy when he was beaten. He kept his mouth shut and didn't say a word, which made the old lady even angrier, because it meant that Ye Hua was completely devoted to the widow.

"Is your brain filled with shit? Do you know how your father died? It was because he married that slutty widow of your mother that this happened. Do you want to be like your father, huh?"

The old woman slapped him hard a few times, gasping for breath, her hands trembling with anger.

Ye Hua said in a muffled voice, "My dad does bad things because he's bad himself, it has nothing to do with my mom, and I definitely won't be like my dad."

Ye Qingqing was about to knock on the door, but stopped after hearing this, wanting to hear what else Ye Hua had to say.

She actually agreed with Ye Hua. Ye Zhiguo was inherently vicious. Even if he didn't marry Shen Yanhong, he would still harm people. Shen Yanhong was certainly not a good person either, but at most she could only be considered an accomplice, not the mastermind. The worst one was Ye Zhiguo.

It's understandable that the old lady wanted to shift the blame onto Shen Yanhong. She needed an excuse for Ye Zhiguo's wrongdoings to make herself feel better, and Shen Yanhong was the perfect excuse.

"It's all your mother's fault! Did she say something to you again? You're not allowed to visit her anymore!" The old lady was furious and slapped her a few more times.

Ye Hua cried and said, "My dad used to try to kill my mom. Grandma, you saw it with your own eyes. I won't be like my dad."

He still remembers that night how much blood his mother bled, how thick the air became, and how her face was whiter than snow, like a dead person. This scene often appears in his dreams, and he is always terrified by Ye Zhiguo's ferocious face in the middle of the night.

There was also the time he and his father went to deliver chicken soup to his mother. He didn't understand it before, but in recent years he has become more and more frightened by it. Why would his father drop his wallet on the way and ask him to pick it up?

After going to the hospital, his father refused to go to the ward and told him not to say anything. His mother had an accident after drinking chicken soup. This series of coincidences made Ye Hua shudder every time he thought about it, causing him to be woken up by nightmares in the middle of the night for a long time.

The old woman's face changed drastically, and she could no longer swing the feather duster in her hand. Of course she remembered, she would never forget, those drops of blood were forever imprinted in her memory.

With a heavy sigh, the old lady put down the feather duster and said weakly, "No matter what, you are not allowed to marry a widow. When you are old enough, I will ask someone to find you a partner. I have already made arrangements. You should focus on making money now. You are only twenty. Why are you in such a hurry to get married? You can't even get a marriage certificate yet."

"I don't want to find other women, I only want Ah Zhen..." Ye Hua was very stubborn.

The old lady grabbed the feather duster again, her anger blazing. Before she could strike, there was a knock on the door. Hearing a voice that was both strange and familiar, the old lady's hand froze in mid-air, her expression one of disbelief.

Ye Hua was the same; she hadn't expected Ye Qingqing to come.

The door opened, and the old lady stood in the doorway, looking at Ye Qingqing and Lu Mo with a complicated expression. It really was that girl.

"I received the gift and used the pillowcase. I came here specifically to see you," Ye Qingqing said with a smile.

The old lady then came to her senses and became somewhat uneasy. "I'm glad you like it. Come inside quickly. Ye Hua, go pour some tea and bring out the pastries and torreya nuts from the cupboard upstairs."

Ye Hua glanced at Ye Qingqing, then went to brew tea using the same jar the old lady used to store new tea. She then went upstairs to get some snacks and torreya nuts, which she silently placed on the table. She then huddled in a corner, her head drooping.
