"The results of a few more tests won't be available for another three days." Tie Dan placed the test report on the table. He couldn't understand it either, but the doctor had told him that the situation was indeed very bad, even more serious than Zhou Yueyun's son, Xiao Hu, back then.
"What's written on this form? It's like scribbles, I can't understand it." Sister-in-law Niu snatched the examination form, stared at it for a long time but couldn't understand a single character, her voice trembling.
Now she finally believes that her beloved son is sick, and quite seriously so. She is extremely worried; if anything happens to her son, she won't be able to go on living.
Sister-in-law Niu was also anxious, as were Brother Niu and Brother Niu Er. "What did the doctor say?" Tang Yuanyuan asked.
"The situation is not good. It will take time to treat. They said the kidneys are the most serious, but we won't know for sure until three days later. If the kidneys are damaged, a transplant will be necessary," Tie Dan said heavily.
The doctor wasn't entirely certain, but Junjun and Zhuangzhuang were already swollen. No wonder they'd gained weight so quickly in the past few months, their faces turning into round steamed buns, and the adults hadn't even noticed.
"Is a kidney the same as a kidney? Do I need a kidney transplant?"
Sister-in-law Niu's vision went black and she fell backward. Even if she was ignorant, she knew how serious it was to have her kidneys replaced. Kidneys were a man's lifeblood. If his life was to be replaced, how could he recover?
"Tiedan, who wants to have their kidneys replaced? Junjun or Zhuangzhuang?" Niu Ersao asked in a trembling voice, hoping that it wasn't her son who was going to be the unlucky one.
"What do you mean? You still want Junjun to switch?" Tie Dan's mother glared fiercely, speaking inhuman language. No matter which grandson it was, she didn't want anything to happen to him.
Niu Ersao ignored him, staring intently at Tiedan, hoping for a definite answer. She hoped her son was alright, and that only Junjun was in trouble. In this life-or-death situation, she only wanted her son to be safe; she didn't care about the lives of others.
"Jun Jun and Zhuang Zhuang are both in bad shape. The results aren't out yet, so how would I know whose kidney is damaged?" Tie Dan was angry and spoke harshly. If these two women hadn't been so ignorant, his nephew wouldn't have been harmed like this.
His older brothers, parents, and other relatives were all accomplices; not one of them had any brains. No wonder the captain always said that one should marry a virtuous wife, not one of those stupid and lazy women, otherwise the whole family would be wiped out. His Yuanyuan is much better; she's such a good little dumpling.
"If the kidneys aren't damaged, then we don't need to change them, which means we're not sick, right?" Sister-in-law Niu asked anxiously, hoping for the best.
Unable to hold back any longer, Ya Dan retorted angrily, "Do you think Junjun and Zhuangzhuang only have a problem with their kidneys? Did you see this?"
She ran to the kitchen, found a pumpkin, and held it up in front of Sister-in-law Niu. "This pumpkin looks sturdy, right? I can crush it with just a gentle squeeze."
As soon as she finished speaking, the pumpkin was crushed, and the bright yellow flesh smeared all over Ya Dan's hand. Tie Dan's mother didn't have time to scold her for wasting things, and hurriedly asked, "Don't play riddles with me, what's wrong?"
"You've ruined every part of their bodies—their blood, bones, internal organs, brain, teeth… they're all damaged. Junjun and Zhuangzhuang are only eight years old, but their bodies are worse than an eighty-year-old man's. It's hard to say whether they can be cured."
