Chapter 2126 Completely Understood

It took Ye Qingqing a while to remember who Wang Meie was. When she heard the voice on the phone, she realized it was Sister Wang. Guan Yongqing must be making rounds; it was during working hours.

"Qingqing, do you have time to come to the hospital?" Sister Wang's voice was still hoarse, but it had gained some strength.

Gu Nianci has been going to the hospital for the past two days. She hasn't missed a single millet porridge or fish soup. Just as Ye Qingqing expected, those four ungrateful wretches don't take care of her at all. The first day, it was the eldest daughter-in-law who was on duty. She had a stern face and acted like someone owed her a million dollars. The food she ate was just cold dishes and rice from the cafeteria.

A daughter-in-law is a daughter-in-law after all, and you can't expect too much from her. But the next day, it was the second daughter's turn. She was just as heartless. She didn't even cook millet porridge. She just got plain porridge from the cafeteria and said that plain porridge was the most nutritious. She was full of nonsense. Her filial piety was like a dog's all day long.

Fortunately, Gu Nianci went, otherwise Sister Wang wouldn't even have been able to get a hot soup. The thing that people fear most when they get old is getting sick. It's good if you have filial children and grandchildren, but if you encounter an ungrateful person, you really have nowhere to cry.

Gu Nianci said that Sister Wang often cried in private. Her health was already poor, and the anger she suffered from her children made her recovery even slower.

Ye Qingqing actually wanted to suggest to Sister Wang that she should stop relying on these four ungrateful children and hire a caregiver instead, so that she could feel better. However, this was their family matter, and she had already interfered too much. If she continued to interfere, she would be disliked by everyone.

"Okay, is it in a hurry?" Ye Qingqing asked.

"No rush, just come whenever you have time."

Sister Wang's voice was very calm, and it seemed that there was nothing urgent. She returned the phone to Guan Yongqing, and Ye Qingqing couldn't help but inquire about Sister Wang's recovery.

"She has a good constitution. If she's in a better mood, her recovery will be faster. There's definitely no major problem, so don't worry," Guan Yongqing said confidently.

Ye Qingqing was relieved. Guan Yongqing was an authority, and if he said there was no problem, then there was definitely nothing to worry about.

It was evening, so Ye Qingqing couldn't go over. After finishing her classes the next day, Ye Qingqing rushed to the hospital. Sister Wang was all alone, lying on the bed. When she saw Ye Qingqing, she breathed a sigh of relief as if she had seen a savior, and said urgently, "Quickly pour me some water, my throat is practically burning."

Ye Qingqing picked up the thermos; it was empty.

"I'll go fetch water."

Ye Qingqing took the thermos to the hot water room and got some hot water. Sister Wang's lips were peeling, but she couldn't drink it for a while. She had to let the water cool down first. Ye Qingqing used the water cup and the thermos lid to pour the water back and forth so it would cool down faster.

"It's okay, I'm not afraid of getting burned." Sister Wang licked her lips and stared longingly at the water glass.

"It'll be ready soon, just wait a little longer."

Ye Qingqing sped up the pouring of water, pouring it back and forth more than a dozen times. She tested the water temperature on the back of her hand, and only when it was about drinkable did she hand it to Sister Wang.

Sister Wang took the water glass and gulped down half of it in one go, as if drinking fine wine. She then sighed contentedly, having never tasted plain water so delicious before.

"Would you like some more?" Ye Qingqing asked.

"Another one, please."

Sister Wang nodded, and Ye Qingqing poured another glass of water to cool down. Sister Wang finally quenched her thirst and said gratefully, "It's a good thing you came. The nurses didn't come to check on us all afternoon, and we couldn't even get anyone to come."

"Didn't they send anyone to take care of you?" Ye Qingqing frowned.

Sister Wang sneered, "My youngest daughter-in-law came to visit this morning, but left saying she had something to do at home. I haven't seen her all afternoon. I don't expect anything from them anymore. They'd only cause trouble if they came. It's better if they don't."

This serious illness made her see things clearly and make a big decision.
