"You used this to shave your head?" Ye Mingcheng asked incredulously, holding up the razor.
Wuchen nodded.
Ye Qingqing then realized what was going on, and was both amused and exasperated. Where did this unlucky child learn that?
“My father shaves his beard every morning, so I shave my head every night. I’m a monk, so I can’t grow hair.” Wuchen said solemnly.
She cannot betray Buddhism.
Ye Qingqing's lips twitched, and she couldn't help but say, "Your master said that you are not pure in your six senses and have no affinity with Buddhism."
"You're talking nonsense! I am a monk!" Wuchen glared angrily.
Once a monk, always a monk; she was devoted to Buddha.
"What kind of monk are you, you motherfucker? If you're going to be one, be a nun. You're not allowed to use this anymore. Grow your hair long!" Ye Qingqing got angry too, and her voice became even louder.
"No way! Why should I listen to you!"
"You won't listen, huh? Just wait until your head, feet, and intestines rot!" Ye Qingqing grinned menacingly.
Wuchen felt a chill run down her back, a dark, damp feeling. Her scalp itched even more. She wanted to stubbornly ignore this nasty woman, but she couldn't resist the itch. She was worried that it would start to fester soon.
"Dad, that vile woman poisoned me!"
Ye Mingcheng didn't even show his face, but replied from the kitchen, "Your sister is just teasing you. Listen to your sister, grow your hair out, and Dad will braid it into pigtails and put a pretty hair accessory on it!"
"don't want!"
Wuchen pouted. She couldn't live like this anymore. She wasn't a woman, so why would she wear pigtails?
"I'll give you one more hour to think it over, or you'll be stuck with this mess!"
Ye Qingqing made a threat, then went upstairs by herself. Let's see how long this unlucky kid can hold out!
Wuchen looked miserable, her body was getting itchier and itchier. Tiantian and Xiaotong tried to persuade her, but in the end she gave in to her heart and temporarily gave in to this wretched woman. She would continue shaving her head once she got the antidote.
However—
"This is a three-day antidote, guaranteed to keep you safe for three days. If I find your head is still bald, I'll stop giving you the antidote immediately!" Ye Qingqing coaxed the child without any guilt.
Wuchen was both scared and angry, but he couldn't do anything about it, so he had to give in. Before going to bed that night, he forced himself not to get his head shaved.
Only a day later, the unfortunate child's head was covered with tiny black dots. Ye Qingqing breathed a sigh of relief. Her father was right; the unfortunate child's hair was indeed thick and black.
Wuchen's eyes blazed with fury as she looked at the dense stubble. She desperately wanted to shave her head, but she didn't dare. That wretched woman gave her the antidote every three days, and she had to give in if she didn't want her intestines to rot. How infuriating!
The next day was the weekend, and Wuchen went to Dafosi Temple for a vegetarian meal, mainly to meet new friends. Since their last meeting at Yinyu's house, Wuchen and Huixin had only spoken on the phone a few times and had not yet met in person.
Huixin was both excited and nervous about hosting friends for the first time. She was busy from the morning and even went to the kitchen to give instructions, afraid that she might neglect Wuchen.
When Wuchen arrived at Dafosi Temple, Master Liujue personally led her to Master Daoyi. He also dared not neglect her, as this was Master Huixin's honored guest. It was the first time he had ever seen Master Huixin receive a guest with such great ceremony. Even the mayor had never received such a great honor before!
Huixin had already arranged for a vegetarian meal to be prepared, and he led Wuchen to pay his respects to Master Daoyi.
The kind-faced master exchanged only a few pleasantries before letting the two children go to eat on their own. Once outside the room, Wuchen breathed a sigh of relief. The master was so imposing that she didn't dare to breathe loudly, but she felt much more at ease talking to Huixin.
The two chatted while eating, and Huixin told her about things she hadn't had a chance to say last time, which Wuchen listened to with great interest.
"Have the other five not been found yet?" Wuchen inquired.
