The old lady's expression froze for a moment, feeling a little embarrassed, but this didn't faze her. After all, she was a seasoned veteran who had been running rampant in the village for decades.
"It's normal for family members to have a few arguments. We argue today and make up tomorrow. My daughter-in-law and I have been getting along well ever since. It's just that you've been stirring up trouble in her ear. You've corrupted my perfectly good daughter-in-law. Now she wants to divorce my son and even wants to send my husband and me back to our hometown... It's all your fault. What are you up to..."
The others looked at each other, unsure of whom to believe. Some remained silent, while others, eager to curry favor with Lu Mo, spoke up for Ye Qingqing.
“Your daughter-in-law is a postdoctoral fellow and the general manager of such a large company. How could I possibly instigate her? Old lady, you underestimate your daughter-in-law. Alright, I won’t waste my breath on you.”
Ye Qingqing called Lin Baiwei directly. It was almost time to get off work, and Lin Baiwei should be able to get back. Last time, Lin Baiwei said she wanted to reduce her workload and take better care of her son.
Lin Baiwei was indeed getting ready to leave work. After listening to Ye Qingqing's phone call, she stuffed the documents she hadn't finished reading into her briefcase and planned to take them home to read later.
"I'll be right back!"
Lin Baiwei hung up the phone, gave her secretary some instructions, and then rushed out. She also called her husband and told him to come home immediately.
"I'm in a meeting. We can talk about it when I get home." Xiao Jie's father wasn't too keen on the idea. It wasn't a particularly important meeting, but he was used to attending meetings, big and small, to make a good impression on his boss. Besides, his parents were home; what could be so important?
Furthermore, Xiao Jie's father had some issues with his wife. Yesterday, she suddenly asked his parents to go back to their hometown and even demanded that he hand over his salary card. He was caught off guard by this unexpected turn of events. Today, as he came to work, he became increasingly angry. Xiao Jie's father decided to put some pressure on his wife and let her know that he wasn't without temper either.
Lin Bai sneered, "I earn tens of millions a year, ten times your income, and I can still find time to rush home. What life-or-death matter do you have? I'll give you half an hour. If you can't get back by then, we'll go straight to the Civil Affairs Bureau tomorrow to get a divorce. The house and Xiao Jie will both be mine. You and your parents get out of here!"
"Are you even being reasonable? Can you stop making trouble? I'm in a meeting, a very important one," Xiao Jie's father said, barely containing his anger.
"If you lose your job because of a meeting, then quit. I'll give you pocket money, and you can stay home and take care of the kids. I can afford to support them."
Lin Baiwei was even more sarcastic, thinking she was being misled. She was, after all, the general manager. If it were an important meeting, it would have been held when she arrived at work in the morning. How could it have been delayed until the end of the workday? It was probably just a work summary meeting, and all she had to do was submit the work summary report. The leaders certainly wouldn't think much of it. Everyone has their own things to do!
This man just doesn't want to manage things and wants to be a hands-off boss. Humph, his good days are over. She won't be so easy to talk to anymore. If he doesn't listen to her, he can get the hell out!
She can raise her son well even without a man, and she lives a more carefree life.
Lin Bai glanced at the time and said coldly, "Twenty-six minutes and thirty seconds left. If you're even one second late, see you at the Civil Affairs Bureau tomorrow!"
After saying that, he simply hung up the phone. Lin Baiwei strode confidently into the elevator, ready to go back and deal with the old witch.
The employees behind her all looked on with admiration. No wonder she's called Boss Lin the Tiger Mother. She can handle men like chickens. She's so domineering!
