Roger glanced at Julie dismissively, "Isn't she always good at putting on an act at these kinds of events? It's not like it's the first time."
Emily shook her head. "No, she's completely different this time. Before, this bitch was indeed good at pretending, but she pretended to be a kind, gentle, and noble slut, not this cold and aloof one. And every time she and Edward were chatting and laughing, tonight Edward did all the talking, she didn't say more than five sentences."
"How do you know she didn't say it?" Roger asked, puzzled.
Emily rolled her eyes at him. "I've been staring at this bitch all night. How could I not know if she said anything or not?"
Ye Qingqing's lips twitched; she felt that this girl and Julie were true love.
Roger's expression turned serious. If what Emily said was true, then Julie's behavior was indeed very strange. Julie was of lowly status, and marrying Edward was her best way out. Although Julie used to keep Edward hanging on to her, she never dared to be truly cold and aloof.
Ye Qingqing's suspicions deepened. Emily and Roger were both familiar with Julie, and they both felt something was wrong, so Princess Julie definitely had a problem.
Thinking of the snow-white skin she had just discovered, Ye Qingqing glanced at Emily and made up her mind. This Emily was a cheerful girl and shouldn't mind such a small matter.
She leaned closer to Emily and whispered, "I have something private to ask you, please don't be angry!"
Emily looked at her strangely and nodded. Only then did Ye Qingqing ask about the difference in skin color. Emily's expression became even stranger, staring at her like she was a monkey. After a long while, she finally said, "Are you a lesbian?"
Ye Qingqing was startled. Holy crap, she was really wronged!
"No, I have a fiancé, and I love him very much!" She quickly proved her innocence; she didn't like lesbians at all!
"Then why are you asking this kind of question?" Emily was still puzzled.
Ye Qingqing had no choice but to confess honestly, and whispered the reason in her ear, "I just saw that Princess Julie's skin was as white as snow, and the color was so different from the skin she exposed, so I couldn't figure it out."
Emily's expression became even stranger, and she shook her head decisively. "Are you blind? That patch is whiter, but it can't possibly be as white as snow. Look at mine."
As she spoke, she turned her back to Ye Qingqing, showing her skin. It was indeed whiter than her face and hands, but still somewhat dark, and not at all like Princess Julie's snow-white skin.
"Are all girls like this over there?" Ye Qingqing frowned.
“Of course, we have a subtropical climate where we live, so our skin is naturally dark,” Emily said frankly. Having lived abroad since childhood, she has been assimilated by that culture and doesn’t like fair skin. She loves sunbathing and believes that having a tan is healthy.
“I’m not mistaken, her skin is as white as snow, even whiter than mine. Look at mine.”
Ye Qingqing also turned her back to Emily, showing her that her skin was fair, but still not as fair as Julie's, which was as white as snow.
Roger was baffled by the two's strange behavior. He wanted to come closer, but Emily pushed him away with an elbow.
Just then, Julie and Edward finished their dance and came over to rest. Emily, who seemed lost in thought, suddenly stood up, took a glass of red wine, and walked towards Princess Julie.
"Julie, I'm so sorry about that horse last time. I didn't know you were interested in it."
Emily raised her glass, seemingly intending to offer a toast as an apology, but her hand suddenly trembled halfway through the air, and the entire glass of champagne spilled onto Julie's dress, soaking a large area of her chest.
