"Where are her relatives?" Mr. Tang couldn't help but shout.
Feeling guilty, Ye Qingqing trembled involuntarily, cold sweat pouring down her back. She secretly prayed that she hadn't made a mistake, otherwise she would be too ashamed to come and eat and drink for free again.
"Why are you yelling at Qingqing?" Tang Yuanyuan yelled even louder, yelling at people even though she had done something wrong.
She was now certain that her father was innocent and that the old vixen was talking nonsense, but Tang Yuanyuan was still angry. If her father hadn't brought Zhang Xiulian back, none of this would have happened. In the end, it was still her father's fault.
Ye Qingqing tugged at Tang Yuanyuan's clothes and whispered, "Maybe we've made a mistake?"
"Impossible! That woman is definitely up to no good. If I hadn't kept a close eye on her during the New Year, she would have tried to break into the house!" Tang Yuanyuan sneered.
She was absolutely convinced that Zhang Xiulian was ambitious. If she hadn't been watching over her, that vixen would have slept with her father long ago. Her father was such an honest guy; how could he possibly compete with an old fox like Zhang Xiulian!
“Yuanyuan, don’t talk nonsense. Your Aunt Zhang isn’t that kind of person.” Mr. Tang didn’t like his daughter’s sharp tone, and it was really inappropriate for her to criticize Zhang Xiulian, a woman with a tragic fate, in front of so many people.
He thought the two children must have made a mistake. Zhang Xiulian was a very decent person; how could she do something so shameless?
It must be a misunderstanding.
"Who is she to me? I call Brother Wang and the others 'brother' because they're family. What kind of 'aunt' is this woman? Calling her Zhang Xiulian is an honor!"
Tang Yuanyuan's anger had subsided a bit, but her father's words reignited it.
Brother Wang, also known as the eldest brother, was a burly man who nodded in agreement. "That's right. We're Brother Yuanyuan, family. What kind of aunt is that woman? Do you think she'd dare to answer our calls?"
The others echoed her sentiment. They had long been fed up with Zhang Xiulian's constant blaming of Tang Ge. Her intentions were obvious to everyone, even a dog on the street could see through them. Only their master remained oblivious, and they were truly worried sick about her.
Mr. Tang stared helplessly. It was just a title, but it had become a major offense. When did these apprentices become so united with Yuanyuan? He said one thing, and dozens of things came back to him.
"Mr. Tang, Sister Xiulian said you need to hurry up and cook the dishes; the guests are getting impatient," a young waiter said as he entered.
"If you can't wait, then get lost!" Tang Yuanyuan said irritably.
Mr. Tang found it strange. Hadn't he already cooked it and sent it out? Why did he need to cook it again?
Ye Qingqing's eyes darted around, and she whispered a few words in Tang Yuanyuan's ear. Tang Yuanyuan nodded and gave a few instructions to the young waiter who had just come in. The young waiter ran out and soon invited Zhang Xiulian's table of relatives to a private room on the third floor.
They even served some home-style dishes. Zhang Xiulian felt uneasy but also happy, thinking that it was Tang's father who arranged it, which meant that Tang's father cared about her!
After working for more than half an hour, the peak time was over and the kitchen was not so busy anymore. Tangyuanyuan pulled her father and a few of her quick-witted senior brothers, including the eldest brother, who had the smoothest tongue.
Ye Qingqing naturally had to join in the fun; she also wanted to know what was going on.
Zhang Xiulian wasn't in the private room; she was busy downstairs. Her aunt's family was still eating, and their table manners were quite unseemly.
"Xiulian's boyfriend's cooking is much better than Old Li's, who hosts banquets in our village. It looks really good and tastes great too." Auntie kept praising him, and even burped a few times.
