The Hu family's house was dark, with no lights on in either room and no sound from them. It looked like no one was inside. The neighbors were all there, and they had just returned from checking on the fire.
"I haven't seen her leave the house all day. I hope nothing bad has happened to her." The neighbor was worried, afraid that Xu Yuetuan might have died at home and started to stink.
“I saw Xu Yuetuan yesterday. She bought meat and fish, and all sorts of good dishes. It was even more lavish than during the Chinese New Year,” another neighbor said.
Ye Qingqing frowned slightly. Xu Yuetuan, who was reluctant to buy much meat even during the Spring Festival, would suddenly buy so many good dishes when it was not a holiday.
It feels a bit like being given a last meal before execution.
Wuchen pounded on the door, but there was no response from inside; it really did look like no one was there.
"Maybe he went out. I haven't seen him since this morning," a neighbor said.
Ye Qingqing's heart skipped a beat, and she asked, "Haven't you seen it all this time?"
"Yes, the door is always closed, and we never see her come out. She's probably visiting relatives."
Another woman scoffed, "She's cut off all ties with her relatives. What kind of relatives are they? I heard some noise in the hallway this morning, so I went out to check. Xu Yuetuan was cooking a big meal. She should be sleeping at home."

Enraged, Wuchen raised his foot, ready to break down the door. Ye Qingqing didn't stop him, but watched coldly. Wuchen raised his foot high and kicked it, but the door creaked open. Wuchen missed and his body lurched forward. Lu Mo reached out and hooked her up, then threw her aside.
Xu Yuetuan stood at the doorway like a ghost. The room was dark, which made her face appear deathly pale, giving her a sinister and terrifying look.
"Why are you banging on my door? Just because you're rich and powerful doesn't mean you can just bang on my door whenever you want!"
Xu Yuetuan's voice was hoarse, and her eyes were fixed on him, making people feel uncomfortable. Several other neighbors who had come close to watch the commotion all stepped back, somewhat afraid of Xu Yuetuan in this state.
"You didn't go out today?" Ye Qingqing asked coldly.
"I have no strength, I can't walk."
Xu Yuetuan answered blankly. Her condition did look very bad, but Ye Qingqing didn't believe it. Animals don't lie; even the rats testified against her.
"You don't have the strength to walk, but you have the strength to set fires?" Ye Qingqing mocked.
The neighbors who were watching the commotion were startled and looked horrified.
"Arson...arson? Xu Yuetuan started that fire? No way...that's terrifying..."
"Why would she set a fire? It's impossible for her to do something so heinous without any grudge against her..."

The neighbors whispered among themselves, not quite believing it. Although these neighbors all had their flaws—some were petty and others loved to spread rumors—that was all they were capable of. They wouldn't do anything else immoral, and they still had a kind heart. So they all found it unbelievable that Xu Yuetuan had set the fire and were unwilling to believe it.
Xu Yuetuan's eyes flickered, but she still looked calm. She said sarcastically, "Why would I set fire? I'm sick to death. I've been lying at home all day without going out. How could I have the energy to set fire? You can leave. I don't have the energy to deal with you."
After she finished speaking, she tried to close the door, but Ye Qingqing stopped her.
“You not only set the fire, but you also almost killed Yuanyuan, a child who was only three years old. How could you do that?” Ye Qingqing deliberately made the name 'Yuanyuan' vague.
Xu Yuetuan sneered, "What nonsense are you spouting? Why would I bother to harm a little kid like Pingping? Get out of here!"
