Chapter 35 Ugly Woman

"Oh dear, this is a human food plate, how can we let a bird eat it? Qingqing, let's not keep it, it's so ugly and black. How about we keep a pretty thrush instead?"

Shen Yanhong disliked Pipi very much; she had actually been insulted by a bird.

She wished she could pluck the ugly bird's feathers, steam it, and use it to nourish her son.

"Ugly woman... Ugly woman..."

Pipi glanced sideways at Shen Yanhong. What right did that ugly woman have to call it ugly? Humph... Back in its heyday, it even managed to seduce a thrush!

Ye Qingqing burst out laughing, while Shen Yanhong's face turned even uglier, wishing she could grab a kitchen knife right now and chop the ugly bird up.

"You can't keep it! This ugly bird's previous owner must have been a bad person. What kind of things did they teach it?" Shen Yanhong strongly objected.

"We should keep it. Pipi is very smart; it speaks differently depending on the person it's talking to."

Ye Qingqing smiled at Pipi, who understood immediately and flew to her side, "Beauty..."

Then it flew back to Ye Lan, "Ugly woman..."

Ye Qingqing laughed heartily, tears streaming down her face. Ye Tong didn't understand what his sister was laughing about, but he also laughed along. The two siblings laughed together.

Ye Zhiguo actually found it quite funny, thinking that Pipi was a particularly intelligent bird. Shen Yanhong and Ye Lan, however, were furious and looked at Ye Zhiguo with resentment, hoping that he would not agree to Ye Qingqing keeping this ugly bird.

"Qingqing, tell Pipi to speak more politely from now on!" Ye Zhiguo said.

Ye Qingqing pouted and said unhappily, "Everyone says that Pipi varies from person to person. Just now it was praising you for being smart, Dad!"

Ye Zhiguo thought about it and agreed. Birds don't have that many thoughts; they're just telling the truth. Compared to Ye Qingqing's beauty, Shen Yanhong and Ye Lan are indeed not that good-looking!

"Then you can keep it. Dad will make you a cage tomorrow."

"No need, Pipi is very obedient, it won't fly away."

Ye Qingqing called out to Pipi, and Pipi flew to her shoulder in a flash, behaving very obediently. Ye Zhiguo watched in amazement, thinking that Ye Qingqing and Pipi were truly destined for each other.

"Old Ye, what kind of talk is this bird saying..." Shen Yanhong felt wronged, and as soon as Ye Qingqing came upstairs, she couldn't help but complain.

"Alright, alright, why are you getting so worked up over a bird!"

Ye Zhiguo was getting impatient. He used to think that Shen Yanhong was understanding, gentle and considerate, but today he suddenly felt that Shen Yanhong was really too stingy. It was just a few pieces of clothing, how could she not find the time to make them?

"Hurry up and make clothes for Xiaotong. No wonder Qingqing is unhappy. Xiaotong's pants are almost like shorts now." Ye Zhiguo's words were tinged with dissatisfaction.

Shen Yanhong felt even more wronged, but she didn't dare to openly oppose Ye Zhiguo, so she had to swallow her anger and agree. In her heart, she planned to whisper in Ye Zhiguo's ear and give Ye Qingqing some eye drops.

As for that ugly bird, she was determined to kill and eat it!

"Ye Qingqing...you get out here right now..." A woman's shouting rang out from outside the gate.

Shen Yanhong's expression changed drastically. She was all too familiar with that voice; it was the voice of a notorious shrew for miles around, even more ferocious than Hu Sanniang from the Water Margin.

"Ye Qingqing, you brat, if you don't come out now, I'm coming in to grab you..." The shouts from outside the door grew louder.

Shen Yanhong then realized that the shrew had come to settle scores with Ye Qingqing, and had nothing to do with her and her son and daughter.

Ye Lan whispered to her, "Qingqing beat up the Hu family's son and daughter before dinner, and she beat them really badly."
