Chapter 1219 A Guarded Heart

Both Lü Ziqun and Song Hongye were taken aback. Song Hongye, quick to speak, asked, "You're going to eat in the cafeteria too?"

Dong Siyue was taken aback for a moment, then smiled and said, "Yes, where else would I eat if I didn't go to the cafeteria?"

Lu Ziqun joked, "You haven't eaten in the cafeteria since the start of the semester."

Song Hongye nodded vigorously, "That's right, this is your first time, isn't it?"

"I ate there on the first day of school, and I'll definitely eat there often from now on. Let's go!" Dong Siyue said with a smile, and followed along.

Only Ye Qingqing, her two friends, and Sun Yurong remained in the dormitory after they finished eating.

Sun Yurong looked somewhat flustered and fidgety. Ye Qingqing noticed this and asked curiously, "Aren't you going to eat?"

If we don't go eat soon, the cafeteria will have to close down.

Sun Yurong seemed a little dazed, but nodded and said, "I'll go eat now."

She took her lunchbox and meal card. Sitting next to her was Qian Manduo. When Sun Yurong took the card, Qian Manduo looked up and glanced at the things in the drawer. He looked slightly stunned.

Sun Yurong sensed it immediately, quickly closed the drawer, glared at Qian Manduo, locked the drawer with a lock, and then left.

Qian Manduo was bewildered by the stare. She hadn't looked at it on purpose. Besides, it was just a drawer. What was there to guard against? There wasn't anything inside. Why was it locked up? Who was it trying to keep out?

“Sun Yurong locked the drawer,” Qian Manduo said.

Ye Qingqing saw it too, and she was actually quite uncomfortable. There were only the three of them in the dormitory, and it was obvious that Sun Yurong was locking the drawer to guard against someone. They hadn't done anything, yet they were treated like thieves. No wonder they felt uncomfortable.

"Maybe she has money in her drawer," Ye Qingqing guessed.

Qian Manduo pursed her lips. She had just seen it; there were only some odds and ends in the drawer, not a single penny. Based on her experience that her ancestors for eighteen generations had been poor, people with drawers like this were generally not very wealthy.

Ruan Yingzi didn't care. "Who cares about her? Let's eat."

Qian Manduo ate the fastest, finishing quickly. She ate a huge pile of meat and looked radiant, letting out a satisfied burp.

"I'm going back now. Don't mop the floor, I'll do it later."

Qian Manduo wiped his mouth, said something, and left, taking the dormitory trash with him. This week was Ye Qingqing's turn to clean, and Qian Manduo had already found out that he never did anything for nothing.

Ruan Yingzi glanced at her watch, then at the sky outside, and said, "I need to go out and buy some fruit; we're out of fruit."

"I'll go check on the grapes, let's go together."

Ye Qingqing got up. It was grape season, and she needed to buy some to eat. Women should eat more fruit for better skin.

Ruan Yingzi casually grabbed a handful of money from the drawer and stuffed it into her bag. Ye Qingqing couldn't stand it anymore and said, "Why don't you go deposit the money now? It's several thousand!"

Ye Qingqing felt that she lived a rough life, but this girl was even rougher than her, just stuffing things in wherever she could, which made her look for things every day.

"The sun is too strong. Let's go when it's cloudy. By the time we walk there now, everyone will be off work."

Ruan Yingzi only glanced at the sun and didn't want to go out anymore. There was a commercial street behind the dormitory, with trees lining the road so she wouldn't get any sun. The bank was right at the school gate, and it would take more than ten minutes to walk there. She would get sunburned all the way there and her skin would peel.

Ruan Yingzi would rather die than sunbathe for a few thousand dollars.
