For the past two weeks, Lu Mo has continued to keep an eye on the school. Wu Chen has been quite quick; she found a boyfriend in less than a week. The young man is quite good, excelling in both character and academics, and also has a handsome appearance. To be honest, Wu Chen is a bit of a waste of the young man's potential to be with him.
"His name is Huang Junkai. He's a sophomore in the law school. He and Miss Wuchen were classmates in elementary and middle school. They have a very good relationship and can be considered childhood sweethearts," the subordinate reported.
Lu Mo's heart fluttered. Childhood sweethearts?
Is Huang Junkai not acting?
"How's the rumor going at school?" Lu Mo asked.
"Everyone was shocked at first when Miss Wuchen suddenly found a boyfriend, but they got used to it afterward, and no one is spreading rumors anymore."
Lu Mo was very satisfied; this was exactly the effect he wanted. His method was the simplest and most effective. If Wu Chen and Huang Junkai were to actually get married, he wouldn't object. A woman should marry when she comes of age, and Huang Junkai sounded like a pretty good young man.
Wuchen ate dinner in the cafeteria and walked back to the dormitory with his classmates. On the way, he ran into Huang Junkai, who smiled and said, "Wuchen, I bought movie tickets. It's a horror movie. Let's go see it together tonight?"
The other female classmates smiled knowingly and went back to their dorms to avoid suspicion.
Wuchen rolled his eyes and said impatiently, "If you don't want to watch it, why are you spending this money? We're fake. You can just act with me for half a month. Don't waste this money. Get your movie tickets back."
She thought about it for a long time and decided to spend money to hire someone, so she wanted Huang Junkai to help her find business and ask around the boys' dormitories to see if anyone volunteered. Then Huang Junkai told her not to waste her money and volunteered himself.
Wuchen was no problem for her; as long as it was a man, it was fine.
So the two of them pretended to be a couple for half a month, taking walks on the playground together, climbing mountains together, eating together, and even going to the library together a few times, which was unprecedented for them. They did everything that normal couples would do.
The only difference is that one is fully committed, while the other is just going through the motions.
Huang Junkai's eyes dimmed slightly, but he smiled and said, "The movie tickets can't be refunded. They cost five yuan each. Come with me to see them, otherwise it'll be a waste."
"Okay, don't spend this money next time."
Wuchen agreed and planned to give Huang Junkai the money for the movie ticket after watching the movie. This guy was having a hard time, and ten yuan was a lot for Huang Junkai.
"Okay, I won't waste money anymore."
Huang Junkai smiled gently. He was willing to spend the money, and he was also willing to be with Wuchen, because Wuchen was the light that illuminated his life.
But Wuchen was his only light, yet Wuchen illuminated more than just him.
Huang Junkai felt bitter. He thought he could give it a try, so he volunteered. But half a month passed, and his heart grew more and more bitter. He could no longer deceive himself.
Wuchen had no feelings for him; he genuinely considered him a brother. No matter how hard he tried, it was useless, and he didn't want to lose Wuchen as a friend.
The movie theater was filled with couples, and there were occasional screams from female students and gentle words of comfort from boys. Wuchen calmly ate sunflower seeds without blinking, while Huang Junkai was sweating profusely and his heart was pounding.
"It's all fake, ridiculously fake. A real neck cut wouldn't leave such a clean wound. The bone fragments would stick out, and there would be blood vessels and nerves, like a rope. Besides, it's basically impossible to cut it in one go; you'd have to cut it several times. This movie is a mess, and the blood color is wrong too. It's not this red. This is obviously made with red ink."
Wuchen scoffed at it, thinking it was just a low-grade comedy that made her want to sleep.
