Chapter 11 The First Signs of the Apocalypse

The next morning, Ye Yunxi ate a simple breakfast. Looking at the calendar, there was still a little over a week until the apocalypse. She had stockpiled enough supplies; if not, no problem, she could just do some free shopping later!

Ye Yunxi looked at the remaining 300,000 yuan and didn't know what to buy.

After thinking for a while, I had a sudden inspiration: why not buy some electronic products, download movies and TV series, and watch them when I'm stuck at home to relieve boredom?

True to his word, he tidied up and took Yunzi out.

I drove to an electronics store; they had a wide variety of styles and colors.

The saleswoman followed Ye Yunxi from the moment she entered the door, introducing the products and showing her the current models as she went.

Ye Yunxi looked at several models and felt they were acceptable. She asked the saleswoman to bring her a few phones she liked and also looked at a few tablets.

The saleswoman looked at Ye Yunxi with a smile. It was great that she had only been there a short time and had already met her sales target for the month. She was sure to get a lot of commission. Just thinking about it made her very happy.

They greeted Ye Yunxi warmly, afraid that if the sugar daddy got upset, they would lose their commission and be complained about and scolded.

Seeing the saleswoman's happy expression, Ye Yunxi couldn't help but think, "She's laughing so happily; she must be getting a lot of commission. She should laugh as much as she can now, because she won't be able to laugh when the apocalypse comes."

Having stockpiled so many supplies, and seeing everyone greeted with smiles, all the money earned now will eventually turn into worthless paper.

Whenever someone asks why I stockpile so much food, whether I can finish it all, or what I do with it, I have no choice but to make up an excuse.

You can't blame her for not saying it; even if she did, no one would believe her, and they might even think she's a fool.

Even if they believe what I say, they will see me as a huge resource depot, which would be even more harmful to me.

So they said nothing and remained silent. Even if they knew the warehouse address, by the time they found the warehouse, it would be empty.

Ye Yunxi followed the saleswoman to make the payment. The total was 150,000 yuan. Looking at the missing amount, there was still over 100,000 yuan left.

Finally, the store manager also gave us some small gifts.

He took the electronics back to the car and placed them on the passenger seat. He drove around for a while, planning to exchange his last few hundred thousand yuan for gold bars.

Upon arriving at a gold shop, Ye Yunxi was greeted by a salesperson. She explained her purpose: she wanted to buy gold bars.

Ye Yunxi followed the salesperson to the gold bar counter. Looking at the shiny gold bars in front of her, she decided to exchange some first and keep tens of thousands as a reserve.

Satisfied with the gold bars, he left the jewelry store, drove home, and then lay down to await the end of the world.

Before the apocalypse, Ye Yunxi cooked at home every day, packed the food into her spatial storage, and exercised her physical fitness.

On September 13th, Ye Yunxi got out of bed and suddenly felt a bit cool. Although it was summer, it felt like spring.

Stepping into the living room and opening the window, I noticed a strong wind blowing, causing leaves to fly wildly in the wind.

Ye Yunxi was stunned. Could it be that the apocalypse had come early?

I immediately ran back to my room, picked up my phone, and checked the messages!

Text message: "Attention all members of the public! Due to unstable weather this year, there are clear signs of typhoons. Please stock up on supplies and stay home!"

In the community group chat, the property management said: "Dear residents, there are signs of a typhoon. Please go to the supermarket to buy food in case it is inconvenient to go out when the typhoon arrives."

402: "What?? A typhoon? Isn't it dangerous here since we're right by the sea?"

601: "Ah!! No way! I'm on a business trip out of town and I don't have time to go back. What should I do?"

1202: "Our company just notified us to work from home because of the typhoon. Yay, I can finally lie down!"

1401: "Hurry up and stockpile supplies, what will you do if you can't leave the house!"

702: "Waaaah~ 1202, I really envy you. Our company's heartless boss makes us go to work as usual, saying that a little typhoon is no big deal."

1202: "...I feel so sorry for you!"

As more and more people started talking in the neighborhood group chat, most suggested that people go to the supermarket to stock up on supplies first, because they might not be able to buy anything if they went too late.

Ye Yunxi silently read the message and kindly reminded him, "Take advantage of the fact that there aren't many people around now and hurry up and stockpile supplies!"

After saying that, she tossed her phone aside and went back to cooking.

I took out ribs, chicken, beef, and some vegetables from the refrigerator. I had to hurry and cook while there was still electricity and water.

Two hours later, a pot of yam stewed with pork ribs, a pot of stir-fried beef and stewed beef, a pot of spicy chicken and chicken bone soup were ready.

I kept one portion for myself, and packed the rest into smaller portions to store away.

Looking at the space filled with supplies, Ye Yunxi felt very safe.

Knock knock knock. Just then, Ye Yunxi heard a knock at the door. She looked at the door warily, took out a dagger from her spatial storage, and quietly walked towards the door.

Looking through the peephole, she saw the man from across the hall. What did he want? Had her secret been discovered?

Ye Yunxi cautiously opened the first door and asked through the iron gate, "What is it?"

The man didn't care about her attitude towards him and said, "I'd like to install a door at the bottom of the stairs. You don't mind, do you?"

"I don't mind." Ye Yunxi was relieved to see that he wasn't looking for trouble.

After finishing his sentence, the man returned home, retrieved a security door and tools, and prepared to install it.

"Do you need any help?" Ye Yunxi, who had been staying at home the whole time, asked.

“Sure,” the man said with a smile as he turned around.

Ye Yunxi came out, closed the door, and went to the stairwell to busy herself with the man.

"My name is Fu Heng," the man introduced himself.

"Ye Yunxi," Ye Yunxi said coldly.

Fu Heng didn't mind Ye Yunxi's indifference and silently continued working.

An hour later, the door was installed, and Fu Heng handed a key to Ye Yunxi: "It's not very safe outside right now, so having a door is better. Here, take this key; it'll make it easier to come and go."

Ye Yunxi took the keys from Fu Heng, thanked him, and prepared to go home, but Fu Heng called her back.

"Things are starting to get chaotic outside. We should stockpile some supplies now so we don't get stuck later," Fu Heng kindly advised.

Ye Yunxi nodded: "Okay, thank you!"

He turned around, opened the door, and went home.
