Fu Heng told them not to move and to get out of the car to check first. Ye Yunxi was worried and insisted on going with him, telling Chen Zhe and Lu Hengyi not to act rashly and to wait for their news.
Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng got out of the car and turned on their flashlights. Fu Heng looked around the entrance but didn't find anything amiss.
So he shouted loudly.
"Is anyone home? We'd like to ask if we can stay the night!"
The others sat in their cars, cautiously observing their surroundings. If anything seemed amiss, they would immediately drive away.
After Fu Heng shouted, several families came out carrying lanterns.
They quickly walked to the entrance of the village and saw two people at the entrance, with several cars behind them.
One of the older men looked at Fu Heng and Ye Yunxi and asked.
"Who are you? What are you doing here?"
Fu Heng smiled and said, "Hello, my name is Zhang Zhe, this lady next to me is Han Xue, and the car behind us is our friend. We are just passing through and would like to ask to stay here for the night."
The older man listened to his words and spoke in a calm and even tone.
"That's possible, but you'll need to pay for food if you stay there. By the way, how many of you are there in total?"
Fu Heng didn't care about the man's tone and answered with a smile.
There were eight of us traveling together: three women, five men, and a dog!
The young men standing next to the man were somewhat surprised when they heard about the dog.
The older man was slightly shocked to hear about the dog and looked them up and down.

Chen Zhe saw this scene from the car and, fearing they were in danger, almost got out to help them. However, Zhang Haiyi stopped him.

Chen Zhe then calmed down and continued to watch them.
Then the older man said, “I am the chief of this tribe. Each of you will receive five catties of grain for lodging. If you wish, you may stay; if not, you should leave quickly, as this place is not safe.”
Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng exchanged a glance. Seeing Ye Yunxi nod, Fu Heng replied.
"We'll stay here. Please wait a moment, we'll go back and get the food."
The clan chief was somewhat taken aback by their words, as they were not what he had expected.
Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng then returned to the convoy, where Fu Heng told them what had happened.
"Are they crazy? In such a small village, one person is collecting five jin of grain. What's the difference between that and robbery?" Chen Zhe said angrily.
Zhang Haiyi told Chen Zhe to keep his voice down so that they wouldn't hear.
Then he looked at Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng and asked them.
"So, are we staying here?"
Ye Yunxi nodded. "Stay here, and also to ask about something. I just heard the clan chief say that it's not very safe around here, and Aheng and I want to find out more."

Fu Heng returned to the car and took out four bags of rice from the cabinet, each bag weighing ten jin (5 kg).

Several young men from the village directed them to park their cars.

When the chieftain saw that they had all come down, except for one dog, he said to them.
"Welcome! You can all stay at my place tonight; I have plenty of rooms."
After saying that, he led the way inside, with several young men following behind their clan leader.
Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng walked at the very back.
Seeing that everything was alright, the clan chief told the others to go home and rest. He told them not to touch the grain and to distribute it tomorrow.
Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng stepped forward, and Fu Heng asked the clan leader.
"Chieftain, you just said that this place is not safe. What's going on?"
When the clan chief heard Fu Heng's question, he stopped and spoke to them.
“There’s a pack of wolves on the mountain near our village. Before the midnight sun, they used to come down often. But after the midnight sun started, we stopped seeing them come down. But these past two days, the wolves have started coming down after dark.”
However, they can't get into our village. As long as the villagers don't leave the village entrance at night, they'll be safe.
Ye Yunxi couldn't help but ask, "Then what is the question?"
The clan chief smiled and continued, "That's because our village has an ancestral medicinal powder. As long as we sprinkle the powder around the village, the animals will smell it and dare not come near the village."
After speaking, the clan chief led them to a house, pushed open the door, and called out.
"Old woman, I've brought a guest back."
Then, the mother-in-law was seen being helped out of another room by a man and a woman.
The old woman came out, saw so many people, and said with a smile.
"Welcome, welcome."
The chieftain addressed the young men and women.
"Ah Xuan, Ah Cheng, you two take the guests to their rooms to rest."
He turned to look at Fu Heng and the others and said.
"You all get a good rest tonight. If you hear any noises, remember, don't open the window or go outside. Just stay asleep."
Don't blame me for not warning you; if you see something you shouldn't and get scammed, don't blame us! You should get some rest!
Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng nodded, thanked the clan leader, and then followed the two young men and women.
The two young men and women led Ye Yunxi and the others to the door of the room and said...
"We have four rooms in our house. Please make your own arrangements, our distinguished guests. Please get some rest and we won't disturb you any longer."
Ye Yunxi and the others thanked her and then began to distribute the food among themselves.
Xuan Yu and Lu Hengyi shared a room, while the others were with their partners.
After assigning rooms, Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng led Yunzi into the room.
Without any lights, they had to go in using flashlights. They immediately saw the bed. Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng put their backpacks on the ground and checked the bed; there were no blankets or pillows.
Fu Heng saw a cabinet, walked over and opened it, and saw a quilt and pillow inside.
"Xixi, should we use this blanket, or our own?"
"Of course we'll use our own. I think there's plenty of space, so we might as well just bring out the bed."
Fu Heng agreed, saying, "Okay, then let's use our own."
Ye Yunxi took out a bed from her spatial dimension, which had a quilt and pillows on it. It was the bed from her spatial villa.
They brought out Yunzi's nest and fed it some food.
After Yunzi finished eating, the two went to their own beds and rested in each other's arms, but they couldn't fall asleep. They were thinking about what the clan leader had said earlier.
