The clan chief picked up a piece of pickled vegetable, ate it, and said.
"No need for thanks, you've already paid rent. I can manage to provide you with a meal."
The clan chief glanced at her husband, then smiled at Ye Yunxi and the others.

"That's good. I made these pancakes myself. You two should try some." The clan chief handed two pancakes to Ye Yunxi and the others.
Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng took the flatbread handed to them by their aunt, took a bite, and Fu Heng was about to ask the clan leader some questions.
A young man came running over in a panic.
He spoke to the clan chief as soon as he entered.
"Father, something terrible has happened! Some of our guests' friends have developed a high fever that won't go down."
Upon hearing that someone had a fever, the clan chief stood up in alarm.
When Ye Yunxi and the others heard that someone had a fever and that it was one of their friends, they frowned.
Fu Heng said to the young man.
"Please take us to our friends."
The young man glanced at his father, then at them.
Finally, the clan chief spoke. "You lot, come with me."
Ye Yunxi, Fu Heng, and the others put down their food and followed the clan leader outside. The clan leader's family also went along.
The clan chief led them quickly to a house with the door open, and the group went inside.
Ye Yunxi walked into the room and saw Xuan Yu calling Lu Hengyi, so she knew that it was indeed Lu Hengyi who had a fever.
