Chen Zhe smiled and nodded. He had to work hard to find the people who killed his parents and avenge them; he couldn't rest easy until he got his revenge.
Twenty minutes later, Ye Yunxi and the others finished breakfast, and Fu Heng prepared to clear the dishes, but Chen Zhe was faster than him.
In a few quick movements, they took the bowls and chopsticks to the kitchen.
Fu Heng was taken aback to see that Chen Zhe was even faster than him, and looked at Ye Yunxi with a dejected expression.
"Xixi, Chen Zhe stole my job."
When Ye Yunxi heard Fu Heng say this, she was taken aback at first, and then she said.
"Then let him do it. Wouldn't it be better for you to take a rest?"
“Oh no, then I’ll be unemployed,” Fu Heng continued.
"Who said that? You have other jobs too," Ye Yunxi reassured Fu Heng.
“That’s true, there are still jobs I have that he can’t do.” Fu Heng thought for a moment and looked at Ye Yunxi with a mischievous smile.
Ye Yunxi couldn't stand his expression and decided to stop looking at him.
A few minutes later, Chen Zhe came out of the kitchen after washing the dishes. He smiled and asked Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng.
"Heng-ge, Xi-jie, I've washed all the dishes. When are we leaving?"
Ye Yunxi stood up. "Let's go now. Remember the route, and then we'll go see the base commander."
"Ah! Do we have to see the base commander again?" Chen Zhe was surprised when he heard Ye Yunxi say that she would take him to the base commander.
Ye Yunxi raised an eyebrow. "What? Scared?"
"No, no," Chen Zhe said, waving his hands in fright.
Ye Yunxi's lips curled slightly; this was interesting.
Fu Heng and Ye Yunxi led Chen Zhe out, closed the iron gate, turned on the electric fence, glanced at the bloodstains on the ground, and walked towards the vicinity.
As Ye Yunxi walked, she said to Chen Zhe, "Now you should memorize the route carefully, because you'll be coming here often later."
Chen Zhe nodded; he would remember the routes they took.
They strolled around the neighborhood for a while, then walked to the office of Chief Wu.
It usually takes them forty minutes to drive, but this time it took them an hour and a half to walk.
Ye Yunxi hadn't walked properly like this in a long time. And surprisingly, it was quite a comfortable walk today, allowing her to slowly appreciate the scenery of the base.
An hour and a half later, Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng brought Chen Zhe to the office of Chief Wu.
Fu Heng stepped forward, took the pass Ye Yunxi had given him, and asked the gatekeeper to inform Zhou Yuan, Zhou's assistant.
A few minutes later, Assistant Zhou heard that Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng had come to see him, so Zhou Yuan quickly went to the front door.
Zhou Yuan greeted Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng with a smile when he saw them.
"Fu Heng, Yun Xi, you've arrived."
"Mr. Zhou, you look even more refreshed than before," Fu Heng praised with a smile.
"Not at all, not at all, we can't compare to you young people. I'll take you to see the base commander," Zhou Yuan said politely.
Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng nodded, and Chen Zhe followed them.
A few minutes later, Zhou Yuan knocked on the door of the base commander's office.
"Chief Wu, Fu Heng and Yun Xi have arrived."
"Come in." When Base Chief Wu heard Zhou Yuan say that Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng had arrived, he immediately let them in.
Zhou Yuan led Ye Yunxi and the others in, and greeted Commander Wu with a smile. "Greetings, Commander Wu."
The base commander saw the visitors and said with a smile, "Why are you being so polite? Come, come, come and sit down here."
Chen Zhe was inevitably a little nervous when he first met Commander Wu.
"Who is this?" Commander Wu asked Ye Yunxi when he saw Chen Zhe.
"He's one of our underlings we recruited outside; his name is Chen Zhe," Fu Heng introduced.
Chen Zhe greeted the base commander politely, and the base commander nodded repeatedly in satisfaction.
He turned to look at Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng. "So what brings you here to see me?"
"Actually, there's nothing else. I came here to buy a piece of land from you," Ye Yunxi said, getting straight to the point.
When Chief Wu heard that Ye Yunxi wanted to buy land, presumably for planting, he asked.
"I presume you bought the land to farm? Then why don't you just go directly into the planting area?"
Ye Yunxi knew that Commander Wu would ask this question, so she answered.
“I have never liked being controlled and I am used to freedom. I bought the land to farm, but the place at home is a bit small, so I don’t grow much.”
Base Commander Wu didn't speak. After thinking for a moment, Zhou Yuan whispered something in his ear.
Ye Yunxi and the others couldn't hear what was being said, but they saw Commander Wu nod.
Then he smiled and said to Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng.
“It’s not impossible to buy you a piece of land, I’ll give you another piece of land.”
Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng exchanged a glance, and Fu Heng asked.
"What are Commander Wu's conditions?"
"Actually, there aren't any conditions," said Base Chief Wu with a smile. "We just need to give you more land so you can plant more vegetables, and then hand them over to the base."
"If you hand over the vegetables you grow on the land you buy to the base, you can exchange them for gold or contribution points. One contribution point per pound."
Ye Yunxi thought to herself, "So this is the condition that the old fox gave her an extra piece of land."
Ye Yunxi pretended to be embarrassed.
"If we do as the base commander says, wouldn't we be at a disadvantage? And if they give us more land, we don't have enough people to take care of it all!"
Commander Wu looked at Ye Yunxi and said with a smile.
"Don't worry, I'll give you half price on the land you bought, and I'll even arrange for someone to watch over your vegetable garden so no one will steal it. But..."
