After discussing it, Ye Yunxi and the others decided to go to the back mountain late at night when everyone was quiet. After that, they went their separate ways to eat and rest.
Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng returned to their tent and retrieved the food from their backpacks. They decided to eat dry rations for lunch, as eating anything with a strong smell here would cause unnecessary trouble.
Liu Dayong had originally come to invite Li Yan and his group to have dinner together, but they declined, saying they had brought their own food and didn't need Liu Dayong's hospitality.
So they all ate food that had no flavor.
After lunch, some of them rested, while others went about their business.
Soon it was dinner time, and after Ye Yunxi and the others finished eating, they continued to rest.
It wasn't until after 9 p.m. that Li Yan ordered an army to line up and await action.
Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng changed into black bodysuits and black masks inside the tent. They then tucked their dagger and pistol into their waistbands before emerging from the tent.
After giving instructions to Professor Hu and Elder Ye, and seeing that they hadn't returned within three hours, Ye Yunxi immediately evacuated the area.
Several soldiers remained in the formation to protect Elder Ye and his group, ready to assist them at any time.
Gu Qingqing looked at Ye Yunxi and the others with concern.
"Sister Yunxi, Brother Heng, Brother Yi, and Captain Li, please be very careful."
Zhang Haiyi hugged Gu Qingqing and gently comforted her.
"Don't worry, we'll all be back."
Ye Yunxi nodded to Elder Ye and the others, then called for Captain Li to quietly lead the group away. Of course, Yunzi went with them.
Li Yan led his men, Ye Yunxi, and Fu Heng, through the darkness. They quietly made their way towards the back of the mountain.
The people guarding them saw Li Yan leading his men quietly toward the back mountain before they went back to report to the base commander.
The person in charge knocked on Liu Dayong's office door and entered, speaking to him.
"Base commander, my men saw Li Yan leading his men to the back mountain."
Liu Dayong adjusted his glasses. "Okay, got it. Go arrange for men to ambush them at the base entrance to prevent them from escaping. If they do escape, kill them all, leave no one alive."
The person in charge nodded. "Yes, I'll arrange it right away."
Ye Yunxi, Fu Heng, and Li Yan led a group of people towards the cave. He Yidong was among them; he knew this battle was extraordinary, so he suppressed his feelings for Ye Yunxi.
Twenty minutes later, they all arrived at a place not far from the cave.
After Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng finished explaining things to Li Yan and Zhang Haiyi, the two quietly headed towards the cave entrance.
The two squatted down in the bushes on either side of the cave, and Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng each took out a dagger from their waists.
Fu Heng gave Ye Yunxi an attack signal, and the two attacked the people guarding the cave from the left and right.
Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng covered the enemy's mouth and nose with one hand, and slit their throats with a dagger in the other. The two young people died at their hands.
They dragged them into the nearby bushes and left them there. Then, when they reached the cave entrance, they quietly slipped inside.
Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng entered the cave. The cave was large, with several forks in the path. They randomly chose one, holding their silenced guns, and carefully made their way forward.
They encountered two young men who had come out, and as they were about to shout, they were shot and killed by Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng.
They dragged the young woman aside and continued walking. They reached a small laboratory, which was empty. Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng examined the experimental reagents on the table.
They were all still in the experimental stage. Ye Yunxi found some poisons and, without saying a word, put them into her spatial storage, just in case she might need them someday.
Fu Heng found a box of medicine in the corner, written in Japanese, which he couldn't understand, so he asked Ye Yunxi to take it too.
Then several people in white coats walked in. Seeing that someone had barged into their lab, they assumed it was one of their own and began to question them loudly.
Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng exchanged a glance, then drew their guns and fired a shot at them. One of them realized they weren't their men and immediately fled.
Fu Heng reacted swiftly, shooting and killing the fleeing man. Two other men, turning a corner, witnessed the scene and fled in terror. Fu Heng didn't have time to fire, and they escaped.
Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng followed them, shooting at anyone they encountered. They then arrived at a laboratory where experiments were being conducted. Upon seeing the strangers enter, the assailants pulled out pistols and opened fire on Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng.
At this moment, Li Yan and the others outside heard the gunshots, and Li Yan led his men to run into the cave.
They opened fire on every single person they saw.
Li Yan led his men all the way to their hall, where they happened to see Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng. After they met, they nodded to each other and then split into two groups, each taking some people to other places.
Ye Yunxi and her group found several more thugs in the tunnel and opened fire on them with their pistols.
After killing all the little ones, they moved on to the next place.
When they encountered a large number of people, Ye Yunxi and the others would find cover while fighting off the small groups of people.
An hour later, Ye Yunxi and her team won; all the young people had been shot dead. However, they also suffered casualties among their own troops.
Li Yan suffered two gunshot wounds, one to his thigh and the other to his left shoulder.
The blood-stained clothes were a shocking sight.
Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng came to Li Yan's side, and Ye Yunxi said to him.
"Captain Li, hang in there, I'll help you get the bullet out."
Li Yan smiled as he looked at Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng.
"Don't worry, I won't die, I'm just a little injured."
