I grabbed a quick lunch at a random restaurant, and then continued exploring the National Museum next to Tiananmen Square in the afternoon.
Yang Wenwen and Zhao Yu are two girls with completely different personalities, and it's a mystery how they became good friends.
Yang Wenwen has a gentle personality and speaks softly. Both she and Yang Wenwen share a similar trait: meticulousness and diligence in their work.
They first visited the Ancient China Exhibition Hall, where they saw artifacts such as the Houmuwu Ding from the Shang Dynasty, the Four-Sheep Square Zun, and the Sanxingdui cultural relics.
This exhibition displays various national treasures that bear witness to five thousand years of Chinese civilization, which is truly amazing.
Even if you wanted to see the National Museum properly, you couldn't finish in five days.
They focused on viewing only twenty-one national treasures, as well as other representative gold, jade, and porcelain artifacts from various dynasties.
Fortunately, Yang Wenwen accompanied them and explained things; otherwise, Chen Hong and her mother would have been completely lost and wouldn't have understood anything.
All they know is that these national treasures are priceless gems, incredibly valuable and precious!
After visiting the National Museum, they caught the flag-lowering ceremony.
They took many more photos, arranged the sightseeing spots and meeting time for tomorrow, and then the three parted ways in the square.
After a day of sightseeing, the mother and daughter didn't take a car and strolled back to Houhai.
Along the way, I discovered several well-established restaurants and bought two Peking ducks, two pounds of spiced beef, some steamed buns and Chinese pastries.
Several new dishes were added to the dinner table tonight! This is the life of a foodie—you can find delicious food wherever you go.
I got home at six o'clock and received a call from my sister saying that she was coming home to stay tonight and that Junjun's dad was coming home for dinner.
After hanging up the phone, Chen Hong said indignantly, "Such a big man, can't he even cook a simple meal? He's so spoiled!"
Now it's just the mother and daughter eating tonight, so there's no need to cook so many dishes. A couple of simple dishes will be enough.
The roast duck I just bought is still warm!
Chen Hong took out her prized knife and sliced the roast duck, skin and all. She didn't waste the duck carcass either, making a duck carcass soup.
I also cut up a plate of the newly bought beef, stir-fried some tomatoes and eggs, and made a vegetable and fruit salad. For dinner, I can just have steamed buns.
I just bought these steamed buns this afternoon. They smell pretty good; they must be handmade using sourdough fermentation.
Soon, the mother and daughter ate their meal. After the meal, they had nothing else to do, so they locked the door and took two pounds of tea leaves, two bottles of honey, a large bag of dried fruit, and a large bag of dried fish and shrimp.
I hailed a taxi at the entrance of the alley and went directly to Fang Yitong's house.
When Principal Jin opened the door, she was quite surprised to see Chen Hong standing there. "Chen Hong, what brings you here?"
When did you arrive in Beijing? Why didn't you tell us beforehand? Have you had dinner yet?
With a barrage of questions, Chen Hong didn't know which one to answer first.
He led Yu Yang inside and beckoned to Fang Xiaoying inside, "Xiaoying, come help me bring these things in, there's still a lot of dried goods at the door!"
Fang Xiaoying quickly went out the door and saw that the stairwell was full of bags and packages.
"Sister Chen Hong, why did you bring so much stuff home? And you have a child with you, how did you manage to get all this over here?"
"Take a taxi! I've been here for three days, staying in Houhai. The weather's just right, not too hot or too cold, so I brought the kids here to play."
I've hired a tour guide these past few days, but haven't had a chance to visit your place yet.
"That's why I came back early this afternoon, and after dinner I brought the kids over."
Principal Jin held Yu Yang's little hand and said, "Is this your son? He's so handsome and quite tall. How old is he?"
Yu Yang answered confidently, "Hello Grandma Jin, my name is Yu Yang, and I'm six years old!"
Principal Jin liked this kind of outgoing child. She happily patted his head, led him to the sofa, arranged for him to sit down, and gave him lots of candy and snacks.
"I don't know what you kids like to eat. These are your sister Xiaoying's favorite potato chips and pistachios. Do you want to try them?"
"Thank you, Grandma Jin. We've just finished eating, so we can't have any more snacks."
Principal Jin smiled and said to Chen Hong, "Chen Hong, the child you raised is truly self-disciplined."
This child is so young, yet she can resist eating snacks; she's much better than Xiaoying!
Fang Xiaoying was unhappy to hear this: "Mom, you may be envious of Sister Chen Hong's child, but you can't put me down like this!"
If we all stopped eating snacks, how many food factories across the country would have to go out of business!
Fang Yitong quickly offered his daughter a way out, "Yes, our Fang Xiaoying is patriotic. She sacrificed her own health to help the food factory operate normally!"
Fang Xiaoying, embarrassed and angry, invited Yu Yang to her room to play.
She also has many toys suitable for boys to play with, all of which were gifts from others, and she carefully treasures them all!
Just then, Yu Yang arrived, and Fang Xiaoying planned to give them all to him. Most of her relatives had given birth to girls, so it would be a waste for her to have them.
Yu Yang glanced at his mother, Chen Hong nodded, "Go play with your sister, Xiao Ying loves children the most."
"When Junjun came, it was all thanks to your sister Xiaoying who brought her along."
Upon hearing that Fang Xiaoying also liked Junjun, Yu Yang felt a strong sense of agreement and followed Fang Xiaoying into the room.
Fang Yitong was brewing tea, and he handed a cup of the second brew to Chen Hong first.
"Chen Hong, why don't you try this tea? It's Da Hong Pao, a gift from someone. I think it tastes alright."
Chen Hong took the teacup and smiled, "You forgot that I'm only fit to drink high-quality tea, and I can't tell the difference between good and bad tea."
As long as it has the flavor of tea and can quench my thirst, it's good tea to me.
Besides, I usually only drink wild tea that I roast myself, and I know absolutely nothing about black tea.
