Chapter 207 A Drunken Experience While Passing Through Shandong

In the future, when we take her to banquets during holidays, someone will be there to drink on her behalf.

The eldest son's wife has been married into the family for so many years, but she hasn't developed a high alcohol tolerance. Every time they go out to a banquet, she's even more of a jerk than the eldest son! The two of them often end up being forced to drink until they're drunk.

This time, she wasn't afraid of Old Cao's wife anymore. She relied on the fact that Northeasterners could drink a lot and had dominated her at the dinner table her whole life.

Terrified, she would often feign illness to avoid banquets that Cao's sister-in-law attended. If she couldn't avoid a banquet, she would shrink into a corner, too afraid to sit in front.

Once her youngest daughter-in-law is married into the family, she will specially invite Sister Cao to dinner. If she doesn't drink her under the table, she's not Zhang.

Chen Hong was quite surprised by the scene at today's dinner party:

Uncle Zhou and his father stared intently at the seafood on the table, while the village chief and Uncle Erhu stared intently at Uncle Zhou and Zhou Yi's father, and Xiao Xue stared intently at the village chief and Uncle Erhu.

No one was keeping a close eye on Zhou Yi's mother. Aunt Guo was chatting happily with her, exchanging tips on growing vegetables.

As soon as Chen Hong appeared, Zhou Yi's mother's eyes lit up, and she waved to her, "Chen Hong, come and sit down!"

You've worked so hard today, cooking so many delicious dishes to treat us.

I heard you didn't get back from sea until midnight yesterday, and you didn't get any rest, you were busy in the kitchen the whole time.

Chen Hong smiled modestly and said, "These are just home-style dishes. I don't know if they'll suit your taste. Please don't mind, just have a bite!"

Zhou Yi's father, having finally had a chance to impress his future daughter-in-law, hurriedly said, "Chen Hong, the dishes you've prepared are of a very high standard."

This is enough to serve as a state banquet! You've really gone to great lengths to entertain us!

Chen Hong: "Uncle, please don't joke around. We live by the sea and eat seafood. It's all home-cooked food. I'm just glad everyone likes it."

When she started to raise her glass to toast, Chen Hong found it amusing. Xiao Xue stared at the village chief and Uncle Erhu, blocking most of the toasts for the two leaders.

The village chief and Uncle Erhu were worried that the guests wouldn't drink enough, so they kept looking for opportunities to toast Uncle Zhou and Zhou Yi's father.

Uncle Zhou and Zhou Yi's father enjoyed the freshly cooked seafood on the table.

Seeing that he couldn't offer any more toasts, Uncle Erhu started serving the dishes.

"Brother Zhou, Brother Zhou, don't just eat seafood. We have all these things by the sea all the time, they're nothing special."

Try Chen Hong's stewed bamboo fungus chicken; this chicken is a one-year-old rooster raised on his own farm.

The dried bamboo shoots and bamboo fungus were all wild ones that she picked herself from the mountains, and she also added a piece of Solomon's seal.

This dish is not only delicious but also very nourishing. Here, let me serve you a bowl of chicken soup. Once you've tried it, you'll definitely crave it again!

After one round of distribution, only half of the chicken soup in the pot had been used up. Uncle Erhu was a kind person, so he served everyone a small bowl full of meat, vegetables, and soup.

I couldn't refuse their hospitality, so I didn't drink much wine. But I would really feel bad if I didn't eat some food.

Uncle Zhou took a sip of the chicken soup and was stunned. This soup was really delicious!

It's not greasy at all, but has a light and mellow aroma, a lingering sweetness, and is incredibly umami.

He not only finished the soup in the bowl, but also ate the chicken, dried bamboo shoots, and mushrooms.

I didn't feel full at all after eating; in fact, my appetite was even better.

"Chen Hong, your bamboo fungus chicken is absolutely amazing. Here, give me another bowl of chicken soup."

As one of only two younger people at the table, Chen Hong quickly distributed another round of chicken soup to the elders.

Even Zhou Yi's mother couldn't help but nod repeatedly, "I've drunk several kinds of slow-cooked soups made by Cantonese people."

They claim to be the best at making soup, saying they'd rather have no vegetables than no soup.

However, it still can't compare to the delicious bamboo fungus and chicken soup that Chen Hong made. Not only is the soup tasty, but the ingredients inside are also very flavorful.

The chicken and dried bamboo shoots were tender, juicy, and flavorful; they really whetted my appetite.

She and Aunt Guo were drinking red wine that Chen Hong had made herself. Although she wasn't a big drinker, the wine was delicious.

Before I knew it, I had been clinking glasses with Aunt Guo again and again. I was enjoying myself and got drunk!

There were other gifts that were supposed to be given to Chen Hong, but she packed them back up.

The welcome banquet was a feast with delicious food and fine wine. The host was incredibly hospitable, and everyone enjoyed themselves immensely!

Although Xiao Xue tried to stop them from drinking, the two brothers, Uncle Zhou and his brother, drank quite a bit under the constant toasts from the two warm and honest old men.

After the meal, Uncle and Aunt Guo half-carried and half-supported him back to the hotel.

Xiao Xue also drank quite a bit. He didn't expect that in rural Shandong, no one would care about the leader's status or position. When the host offered a toast, he was serious!

He thought it was just a small family dinner, but unexpectedly, he didn't collapse at a large, high-class banquet, but rather at the small wine cups of two villagers from Yujia Village.

Xiao Xue internally screamed: "Boss, I misjudged the enemy's situation and suffered a complete defeat! I'll never dare to drink with the people of Shandong again!"

Concerned about the health of the elderly, Chen Hong quickly packed a bottle of honey, squeezed a large pot of grape juice, and packed a large bag of space fruit.

I followed them back to the hotel, made a cup of honey water for each of them, and then let them rest.

When we got back, I forced Uncle Village Chief and Uncle Erhu to drink a glass of freshly squeezed grape juice and then told them to go and rest.

The village chief and Uncle Erhu were stubborn as nails, saying, "Why would you drink juice? That's something women drink!"

We weren't drunk, and I'm not bragging. I wouldn't stand a chance against Shandong people when it comes to drinking, but they're no match for Beijingers.

If it weren't for Xiao Xue stopping them, the Zhou brothers would have drunk themselves under the table!

Aunt Guo glanced at him and said, "Anyone who says they're not drunk is a drunkard. You're not young anymore, so you can't drink like this."

Besides, things are different now than before; it's no longer acceptable to drink guests under the table to be considered genuinely honest.
