Whether convex or concave, dynamic or static, with dragons soaring and phoenixes dancing, ever-changing and all-encompassing, it directly reproduces various landscapes of nature.
Zhou Yi and Yu Yang were so captivated by the wondrous patterns on the various stones that they could hardly tear themselves away.
Chen Hong sat by the pool and walked further and further away while Zhou Yi and Yu Yang were looking down at the strange stones.
He reached his hand into the pool and released a handful of cornmeal, hoping to attract red-scaled fish.
To be honest, she was a little discouraged when she got here. She had searched all the way up from downstream, and despite her excellent eyesight, she hadn't found a single red-scaled fish.
No wonder the government wants to protect the red-scaled fish. This little fish may look inconspicuous, but it has a great reputation.
It, along with the shad from the Fuchun River, the naked carp from Qinghai Lake, the oilfish and bowfish from the Bohai Sea, are known as the five major tribute fish of my country.
When ancient emperors came to Mount Tai to perform the Fengshan ceremony, the red-scaled fish was an essential and top-quality tribute dish in the imperial cuisine.
Not only have tourists from other places long admired this dish, but when they come to Mount Tai, whether they stay in a large hotel or dine at a local farmhouse, they always make sure to order the Mount Tai Red Scaled Fish whenever they have the chance.
More than a decade ago, these small fish were quite common in the streams of Mount Tai.
Although their numbers are not large and they do not appear in large groups, as long as the water is clear and not polluted.
You can still occasionally spot traces of red-scaled fish in the crevices of the rocks in the stream.
Red-scaled fish are delicate by nature, preferring clear mountain streams. They are intolerant of both high and low temperatures; they will die if the water temperature is above 28 degrees Celsius or below 2 degrees Celsius. They have extremely high requirements for their environment.
They are small fish, with the largest reaching no more than 20 centimeters in length in their natural environment. Their color resembles platinum, with some being reddish-black, white on the belly, and some having a slightly bluish back.
Its entire body is covered with fine scales, and its body color changes with the environment, sometimes dark and sometimes light. It is sensitive to changes in sound and moves nimbly. When it encounters external stimuli, it quickly escapes into the rocks in the mountain stream.
Even though this kind of fish is not easy to catch, it is not a problem for clever humans.
The local people, who have lived at the foot of Mount Tai for a long time, have long been familiar with the habits of the red-scaled fish and have designed various fishing methods for it, resulting in a sharp decline in the number of red-scaled fish.
As Chen Hong was still recalling the appearance of the red-scaled fish she had seen when she was a child, she sensed out of the corner of her eye that there seemed to be a group of fish about a foot long moving around at the bottom of the pool.
Taishan Red-scaled Fish! Taishan Red-scaled Fish!
Chen Hong's heart suddenly skipped a beat. She snapped out of her reverie and focused intently on observing the movements in the water. Oh my! It really was a red-scaled fish!
There were quite a few of these red-scaled fish, about thirty or so. Perhaps because they ate less in winter, these fish were all thin and slender with tight bellies.
Chen Hong didn't dare to move, for fear of startling them and causing them to scatter, making it impossible to lure them out again.
She controlled the spatial water, which slowly flowed from her palm. The spatial water was quite effective; the red-scaled fish, already attracted by the aroma of the cornmeal Chen Hong had sprinkled, were happily scrambling for it.
Unable to resist the immense allure of the spatial water, they swam and greedily devoured the bait, gradually approaching Chen Hong.
Once they swallowed the spatial water, the energy contained within drove them even more frenzied, and in the blink of an eye, they quickly swam to Chen Hong's side.
Chen Hong watched them nervously, sitting by the pool without daring to move, while continuing to release spatial water from her palm.
Lured by the spatial water, the red-scaled fish lowered their guard and frolicked freely around Chen Hong's hand.
The time has come!
With a thought, Chen Hong instantly stored most of the red-scaled fish in her spatial storage. Looking at the seven or eight red-scaled fish that had been frightened and scattered, she smiled with satisfaction.
This result suited her perfectly; she collected most of it and left a small portion in the pool.
Hopefully, after a year, the remaining red-scaled fish here will reproduce and form a new population, instead of being caught to extinction.
Chen Hong withdrew her hand, took out a tissue to wipe her hands clean, and then sprinkled some cornmeal and spatial water into the pool.
She believed that after the transformation of the space water, the red-scaled fish in this small pond would become more cunning and clever, able to easily evade human fishing, and their reproduction would surely be successful.
Chen Hong finished bestowing her blessings upon the red-scaled fish, then rose from the pool and called out to Zhou Yi and Yu Yang in the distance:
"Zhou Yi! Yu Yang! Come back for dinner!"
She found a flat Taishan stone about three meters long and two meters wide, and took out the thermos, insulated bottle, and plastic bag containing cooked food and fruit from her backpack and arranged them neatly.
"Hey!...I'm coming right away!...Coming...coming!"
The voices of Zhou Yi and Yu Yang echoed from afar, and the valley reverberated with their responses.
Chen Hong smiled. The air here is so fresh! The valley is so tranquil!
This is still the first month of the lunar calendar, when everything is withering. If another month passes, everything in the valley will revive, with golden forsythia, pink peach blossoms, pinkish-white plum blossoms, and snow-white pear blossoms blooming in competition, creating an even more beautiful scene.
Chen Hong felt a little regretful. By then, Zhou Yi would have already rejoined the team and wouldn't be able to catch the beautiful April blossoms in the quiet valley of Mount Tai.
However, Zhou Yi and her son were very happy to have a holiday in this still somewhat chilly season, and to travel with their whole family.
Seeing Zhou Yi grinning widely and excitedly searching for unusual stones with Yu Yang, Chen Hong smiled. She knew that Zhou Yi was also enjoying the happy times he spent with them.
He cherished every moment. Ever since they got their marriage certificate, Zhou Yi followed her every step of the way.
If she hadn't firmly refused, this man wouldn't have even complained about the smell when she went to the toilet, and would have waited at the door.
She couldn't understand it at all. The two of them had been together for a long time, so how come she hadn't noticed how clingy he was before!
