Chen Hong wants to build a villa for herself, and a front yard for standard rooms to stay in for tourists. She can't just do it haphazardly; when she goes to the city tomorrow, she'll take some time to visit the urban construction company and ask them for design advice. If she's going to build, she wants to do it right the first time, especially since it's her own house.
It must be spacious, beautiful, bright, and comfortable to live in. With time to spare, Chen Hong packed up her tools, drove her tricycle to the dock to refuel her fishing boat, and went out to sea to fish again.
As the fishing boat sailed on the vast sea, Chen Hong felt a sense of familiarity with everything she saw. It seemed that she was just right to be a fisherman.
Whether it's the bustling traffic in Jinan or the crisscrossing subway lines in Beijing, both give me a feeling of being rushed and uneasy.
The stylish and sophisticated men and women in the city made me feel so unfamiliar; it was a society I couldn't fit into.
Back in Yujia Village, sailing on the open sea, this was truly my own territory. Even the gossip of the village aunties and sisters-in-law felt incredibly comforting.
Chen Hong cast her net twice this morning, and each time she had a great catch. Her space and the hold were already overflowing. The aquaculture boxes she ordered online should have arrived by now. She would pick them up from the courier point when she returned from her trip tomorrow, otherwise she wouldn't have room to store any more good catches.
At noon, Chen Hong found a secluded spot and swam underwater for an hour. Unexpectedly, she discovered a shipwreck. Unfortunately, it was a modern shipwreck, and there was nothing of value on board. She only managed to collect some scrap metal and a disused engine.
Chen Hong looted all the metal items on the ship, leaving the wooden boat to decompose and rot on the seabed. The scrap metal could be sold for a few hundred yuan, which was a small profit.
The shipwreck became a habitat for octopuses, and Chen Hong caught more than 200 kilograms of octopuses. Chen Hong was quite satisfied with the haul from this trip.
It was already past 2 PM, and Chen Hong decided to return to Hong Kong early today. She called Zhang Baiqiang and Liu Quantian in advance, and also called Uncle Erhu.
When they arrived at the dock, everyone was already waiting. Zhang Baiqiang complained to her that he hadn't received any fish from her for three days, and even Master Fan had mentioned her several times.
Chatting and laughing, everyone finished their work, and Zhang Baiqiang and Liu Quantian took their catch back to the city. Chen Hong earned a few yuan today, transferred 150 yuan to Uncle Erhu as his wages, and gave him a bucket of octopus to share with the village chief when he got back.
After seeing everyone off, Chen Hong called the village's scrap collector, and the old man arrived in his tricycle a little while later. She sold the scrap metal for a total of 320 yuan. Shaking the red bills in her hand, Chunhong was very satisfied; this was equivalent to two days' wages for Uncle Erhu's family, which wasn't bad at all.
When I got home, my dad had just woken up from his afternoon nap. "You didn't even rest when you got home. Don't wear yourself out. You're still young, you need to take care of yourself and not push yourself too hard."
"It's alright, I've rested well. I haven't been out to sea for several days, I've been bored. Dad, how's your fishing with Uncle the village chief going these past few days?"
"It's alright. I can't compare to your village chief uncle, but I can catch a few fish every time. I've never come home empty-handed. It's enough for Yu Yang and me to eat." Dad was quite content. After seeing so many anglers who fished for half a day without catching anything, it was already very good to have a catch.
“You’re still in the learning phase and have no experience yet. But once you’ve been here long enough, you’ll definitely be better than Uncle Village Chief.”
“Your village chief uncle said there aren’t many fish on the shore now, it’s not a matter of experience. I see you’ve had a good catch from fishing at sea. Now Yu Yang goes back and forth to Xiao Hao’s house by himself, so he doesn’t need me. Why don’t you come with me on your next trip to sea!”
“That won’t do. Your blood pressure is so high. What if you get dizzy at sea? Dad, I’m free tomorrow, so I’ll take you to the city for a checkup. I think you seem to be feeling better since you came here more than half a month ago.”
"Really, you know what? Since I came to your house, I haven't taken any more medicine. I feel much better, and my head doesn't hurt or throb anymore. I feel much lighter. I don't need to go for a checkup anymore. Why waste the money?"
Chen Hong coaxed him, "Didn't you want to come aboard with me? If we check your health and everything's fine, then you can come out to sea with me."
So, the next morning, the father and son went to Rongcheng City Hospital for a full-body checkup for the father.
Since the morning's test results weren't available, Chen Hong took her father to the Municipal Construction Commission. The commission doesn't handle private housing construction, but the staff enthusiastically recommended several reputable local architectural design companies to Chen Hong.
Chen Hong found out about the most reputable design firm and negotiated a cooperation agreement. All that's left is for the design company to conduct an on-site survey of Yujia Village and then create design drawings based on the actual conditions of the site. This can only be accomplished after the design company's representatives arrive in the village tomorrow to assess the terrain.
The father and son were very happy to receive the test results in the afternoon. The doctor told them that the old man's health was very good, and his blood pressure was only slightly high. As long as he paid attention to his daily life and ate a light diet, there would be no major problems.
The father and son breathed a sigh of relief and happily returned home. As soon as they entered, the old man began packing his things, preparing to go out to sea with his daughter the next day.
Chen Hong was startled: "Dad, don't get agitated. The doctor only said your blood pressure is a little high, but he also said to be careful in the future. You can't go to sea in your condition. Why don't you ask Uncle Village Chief?"
Many healthy people get seasick, let alone someone with slightly high blood pressure. You should wait until your blood pressure is more stable and completely normal before considering it.
My father was depressed and stayed here for more than half a month. He also developed a longing for the sea.
But I didn't dare to cause any more trouble for my daughter, so I could only wait until later.
