During the Spring Festival, the big boss asked Chen Hong about picking tea in the spring. Perhaps Chen Hong had finished the tea he had given him before, and he hoped that Chen Hong would leave him a few kilograms of tea this year.
Chen Hong told him, "Let's talk about it after Qingming Festival. It rains a lot during Qingming Festival. If it rains and we can't go out to sea, we'll definitely have to go pick tea."
Tell him to tell the big boss that he will be given a few pounds of tea leaves.
Chen Hong went to the village chief's house and left a set of keys for the elderly couple. She was going out to sea tomorrow and hoped they could take care of the dog and Yu Yang.
It would be best to stay there overnight and watch the house for her. She'll be back in three days at most. The village chief left the key, patted his chest, and said, "Don't worry about anything at home while you're at sea."
Your aunt and I are moving in tomorrow morning. Didn't you reserve a room for us? We'll stay in the villa for a few days.
"You can leave the children, the two dogs, and the chickens and ducks to us without worry. We're just an old couple who can't do anything else. Can't we look after the house and take care of the children?"
With these two elderly people helping her, Chen Hong felt indescribably grateful. When her father was around, they were too close, and she was afraid he would find out her secret.
The village elders were positioned at a safe distance, neither too close nor too far. They could help her without revealing her secret. Chen Hong trusted them implicitly.
After dinner, Chen Hong instructed Yu Yang to listen to the village chief for the next few days. She also told him that his mother would be at sea for two or three days, and to tell the village chief about anything that needed to be done at home.
He was also given instructions on where the family kept their money, and his great-uncle was allowed to buy him whatever he needed.
The mother and daughter chatted about what kind of fish they could catch at sea the next day while coiling up the main line and leader of the longline fishing line.
Arrange the fishhooks in order, and when you need to use them, simply bait each hook and use them directly.
After putting her son to bed, Chen Hong prepared twenty sets of longline fishing gear. Once at sea, all she had to do was bait each hook and cast it into the water, then wait to reel in the line.
She went back to her space to check the food she had prepared in advance. Once at sea, she tried not to cook. In the vast ocean, she could do whatever she wanted and just focus on finding fish.
The next day, before dawn, Chen Hong drove her tricycle to the dock. The fuel truck and ice truck had been arranged in advance and were waiting to resupply the ship.
The current price of diesel is 4.9 yuan per liter. It cost 1000 yuan to fill up the tank. Chen Hong only bought 1000 yuan worth of ice.
She only bought 200 yuan worth of frozen bait as a cover. Once at sea, she had bait prepared with water from her spatial storage. She wouldn't lack either live or frozen bait, so Chen Hong didn't spend any money on it.
At eight o'clock sharp, Chen Hong sounded the ship's horn and set sail from the dock. Sailing on the vast sea, the sea breeze was gentle, the horizon stretched endlessly, and they could occasionally overtake nearby fishing boats.
An hour and a half later, Chen Hong had already arrived at the exclusive economic zone. This new boat was indeed fast, taking more than half the time of her own small fishing boat to reach the designated location. This was outside the Yellow Sea; she frequently came here after the Lunar New Year and was very familiar with this area.
Continuing onward, after half an hour, we reached the East China Sea. This area borders South Korea and Japan, and is partially surrounded by Jeju Island (South Korea), Kyushu Island (Japan), the Ryukyu Islands, and Taiwan Island (my country).
Heading east, past Kyushu, the Ryukyu Islands, and Taiwan, lies the Pacific Ocean. To the south, it connects to the South China Sea. Chen Hong had never been to such distant waters before.
The average depth of the water here is 370 meters, much deeper than the Bohai Sea and the Yellow Sea, and home to many large deep-sea fish. Historically, South Korea and Japan have had many disputed waters with my country within a few hundred nautical miles of each other.
There aren't many fishing boats operating in this area, and the fishery resources here are very abundant. Along the way, Chen Hong spotted several schools of yellow croaker with the naked eye.
Cuttlefish and ribbonfish are also plentiful here, as this is where the deep and shallow seas meet. There are many deep-sea fish and many shallow-sea fish.
Especially the sea area not far from Suyan Island. Below this sea is a undulating mountain range with a large drop in water level, and the seabed is rich in corals, with well-preserved ecological resources.
The shallow water, only about 40 or 50 meters deep, is perfect for fishing operations.
Chen Hong decided to stop the boat here to test the waters. She lowered the anchor cable, stopped the boat, and turned off the engine. The electric anchor winch made only a whirring sound and quickly completed its automatic operation. "That's great!" Chen Hong secretly gave Geng Dazhi a perfect score.
Chen Hong planned to take the rubber boat to extend the fishing line first, but she was worried about the fishing boat. What if another boat got close and took it away? That would be a real problem, and she would be in a real predicament at sea.
Fortunately, she had already come up with a plan. She first strapped a mannequin dressed in men's clothing to the driver's seat, turned off the engine, and removed the boat keys.
Only then did she feel relieved enough to go to the stern, check that there were no other boats around, and take out a 3.6-meter-long rubber boat equipped with a 65-pound electric propulsion unit from her spatial storage.
The rubber boat was lowered into the sea by following the stern of the boat. Chen Hong climbed onto the rubber boat, started the electric propulsion, and the rubber boat slowly left the fishing boat.
After taking out the fishing line with the small fish attached from the space and tidying it up, I tied a float to the end of the line and started slowly lowering the fishing line into the sea in the rubber boat.
Chen Hong had already baited the fishing line with pieces of mackerel he had taken from his spatial storage. These mackerel had been kept in his spatial storage since before the New Year. Now they were ready to be used as bait to catch big deep-sea fish.
After working for more than half an hour, Chen Hong had cast five longline fishing lines, each over 200 meters long, which formed a large circle behind the fishing boat.
After casting the last line, I saw the float on the first line bobbing in the water. It seems the fish kept in the pool are quite attractive; some fish have already taken the bait.
