Chapter 11 Exam shuhaige.net

When Chen Hong arrived at the Maritime Safety Administration and found the examination room, the first session had already ended and people had left, and the second session had already started for 10 minutes. She quickly showed her ID card and entered the examination room. The proctor at the door handed her a computer access pass and told her to take the exam on computer number 15.

When Chen Hong went in, she couldn't help but laugh. The entire examination room had 30 computer stations, and almost all of them were middle-aged or elderly men. Judging from their clothes, they seemed to be local fishermen from the coast.

Chen Hong found camera position number 15, looked left and right, and saw that the man on the left was a man in his 50s, and the man on the right was almost 50, both of them were covered in sweat.

There was also a staff member next to them, who kept looking at the man on the left and the man on the right, sometimes asking the man to click the mouse, sometimes asking the man on the other side to click on a question, sometimes asking the man to scroll down, and sometimes asking the man to move the mouse cursor!

The two middle-aged men were completely bewildered by the instructions. One minute they were asking if this was a mouse, the next they were asking which way was left, then they were asking where to click on the right, and then they were asking where the arrow went.

Chen Hong found it hilarious; she had never taken such a funny exam in her life! Fifteen minutes had already passed, so she quickly turned on the machine, entered her name and ID number, and saw that the questions were very simple: 100 questions, and 80 points was the passing score.

Chen Hong worked like a tiger, clicking away rapidly without even looking at the questions carefully. She finished in 15 minutes, clicked submit, and immediately saw her score of 96. That meant she had passed. Chen Hong smiled happily.

The middle-aged man on her right saw her smile, walked over and glanced at her screen. "Wow, impressive! 96 points, girl. How did you do it? I've been studying for ages and haven't even finished ten questions yet. I don't understand them at all. Can you help me with them?"

"That won't do. Doesn't that violate the rules? Would the proctors agree to that?"

The middle-aged man glanced at the staff member beside him and said, "Young man, what do you think? Anyway, she doesn't do it for me, and you do most of it anyway. Why don't you let this girl do it for me?"

The staff member didn't say anything and went to the other man's side, pretending not to see them.

When Chen Hong saw this, she thought, "Wow, you can do it like that?" So she agreed to help out. She thought the uncle was having a tough time. He was so old, and he was sweating profusely, his face turning red and purple. In this hot weather, she hoped he wouldn't have a stroke due to high blood pressure.

Since the staff were being lenient, Chen Hong decided to do it anyway! She quickly completed the remaining 90 questions, then went back to check the first ten questions, made two changes, clicked to confirm and submit, and the screen flashed to show her score: another 96.

The uncle laughed heartily, "Thank you, girl, thank you so much! Oh, you're so smart, you did it so quickly and well, you finished in ten minutes! Oh, I'm so relieved! Oh, this is great! Girl, which village are you from? What's your surname? What's your name?"

The uncle was so excited he was incoherent. Before Chen Hong could even speak, the staff next to him objected: "Uncle, get out of here when you're done. Don't disturb other people's exams." "That's right, Lao Lu, get out of here! If you don't get out, believe me, we guys will beat you up. Don't you have any sense of propriety? Can't you see how anxious others are?"

"Fine, fine, I'm leaving, I'm leaving. I'll go home, make some dishes, have a few drinks to celebrate. I've only taken one exam in my life, and I almost got a perfect score. I'm proud! You guys can take your time taking the exam, you can't pass anyway, you bunch of idiots."

The uncle's words stirred up a hornet's nest. The group of rough men, few of whom were educated, were already frustrated and irritable from the exam. Old Lu's words provoked them to the point of losing their temper.

"I'm not taking the exam anymore. I'm going home. What kind of bullshit captain's certificate is this? I've been sailing for over forty years and fishing for half my life. I can still make a living without a certificate. The government tells us to get a certificate, so we get one. Making a rough guy like me take an exam is just making things difficult for us. I don't know what the government is thinking. For people our age, being able to finish elementary school is considered highly educated. Let alone taking an exam, we can't even handle a computer."

“That’s right. I’ve been in school for two more years than you. I can’t even do these questions, let alone recognize most of the words. When we go out to fish, it’s not about who has the higher education level or who catches the most fish. We rely on our skills and experience. I think if all else fails, the government should stop allowing people to go out to sea without a license. Instead, we should ask the government to assign a student to each of our boats. Students can get licenses more easily.”

"What nonsense are you talking about? Even if the government were to assign us students, wouldn't you provide meals and pay salaries? You expect the government to find people to help you for free? What are you thinking? Go wash up and go to bed!"

Everyone started arguing loudly, and the examination room instantly turned into a bustling market! The invigilators and staff panicked when they saw the situation was getting out of hand.

To better implement the fishing moratorium, the state has implemented a series of measures and invested huge sums of money to regulate fishing and ensure the basic livelihood of fishermen. In order to mitigate the conflict between the fishing moratorium and fishermen's livelihood, the state's fishing moratorium policy was revised 11 times between 1997 and 2006, averaging less than once a year.

If the issue of fishing licenses for fishermen isn't resolved, and all fishermen go to sea without permission, then this policy won't be able to be implemented. All that money the country has spent on the fishing ban will be for naught.

The proctor quickly reassured the fishermen: "Don't worry, everyone. Our city's Maritime Safety Administration has already set very lenient requirements so that everyone can pass the exam smoothly. We really didn't expect that your educational level would make it so difficult for you to take the computer-based exam."

It was our mistake; due to staff shortages, we didn't have enough on-site staff. We will definitely learn from this experience and provide assistance to help everyone take the exam smoothly. There's still time, so please focus on the questions. If you encounter any problems, please seek help from our staff.
