Chapter 222 The Rich and Powerful Have Nothing to Do with Her

Even now, she can't distinguish between brand names and not. Asking her about brand names is less helpful than asking her about the types of seafood! She knows more about seafood than most people do!

However, Chen Hong was neither envious nor jealous. She was just an ordinary housewife, and having money would not change her vision or perspective.

She has no ambition; her only goal is to live her life well and raise her children to adulthood.

What does high society or wealthy families have to do with her?

Xiaoyun is even more single. She can only afford two more houses with her salary because of her sister.

Wow! A wealthy family? What's that? Can you give her an extra two thousand yuan a month?

Yu Yang and Xiao Hao listened with great interest, with Xiao Hao occasionally asking, "What do they eat? Steak noodles and milk?"

Wang Xin asked, "It's on TV, they're drinking red wine and eating a lettuce platter!"

Guan Tao laughed so hard he rolled on the ground. Although his family wasn't exactly a wealthy one, they were a long-established local family in Beijing.

He also attended high-end parties in high society with his elders, so he was considered worldly-wise compared to other children his age.

"They have steak, but it's made with imported beef. They don't have bread; they have all kinds of cakes and pastries."

They do have lettuce, all organic and pesticide-free fruit and vegetable platters. They also have red wine, imported from abroad, with a bottle costing at least a thousand yuan.

There are also all sorts of precious ingredients; rare delicacies from land and sea. A single meal can cost thousands or even tens of thousands of yuan!

Yu Yang didn't think much of it. "We usually eat pesticide-free organic vegetables and fruits. The red wine is also made from wild grapes."

My mom catches the seafood herself; she cooks it as soon as it comes out of the water, so it's always the freshest.

Aside from not having cattle to raise and thus not being able to eat steak, isn't our food better than a high-end banquet?

Grandpa Zhou said just a few days ago that the food at my house is even better than what you'd find at a state banquet!

Guan Tao choked up upon hearing Yu Yang's words, "Your family's food is indeed better than the food at the banquet!"

The red wine was also delicious, and the quality was better than at high-end banquets. It's just that there weren't as many varieties as at banquets, where the focus is on a perfect balance of color, aroma, and taste.

The food at home smells delicious enough, but the presentation is just not nice.

Xiao Hao was amused by him and laughed out loud: "Brother Guan Tao, even without plating, Aunt Hong's food is always completely finished every day."

If Aunt Hong continues to platter the food, wouldn't we all end up eating the plates too?

Hahaha, that's hilarious!

Fang Xiaoying laughed out loud, "That's hilarious! But the food at Sister Chen Hong's house is really delicious. I've even gained weight since I came here."

Fortunately, Sister Chen Hong didn't plate the food. If those decorations had taken up the plates, Sister Chen Hong would have had to cook half the food again for us to eat!

The food at the hotel was beautifully presented, but the portions were far too small. Each person only got a tiny bite, and that was it; expecting to eat your fill was a pipe dream.

Several children were arguing about the difference between home-cooked meals and restaurant food, while several adults listened quietly to the children's noise.

After resting for a while, everyone got up and continued working. Chen Hong still picked grapes from hard-to-reach spots, and even started climbing trees with a basket on her back to pick wild grapes from higher up.

She was quick and agile, and filled a large basket with fruit in just over ten minutes.

Guan Tao was called to take the basket, and then an empty basket was brought up, while Chen Hong continued picking from the tree.

The grapes that grow on the vines that climb up the tree trunk are better; mice and frogs can't reach them, and fewer of the grapes are ruined. Only birds can pick up a few to eat.

Chen Hong picked the fruit quickly, and after finishing this tree, she climbed up another tree next to it.

In the end, she kept climbing up and down the tree trunk, only picking wild grapes from the higher branches.

Before sunset, Chen Hong led the main group down the mountain. Carrying half a basket of grapes on her back, Madam Guan didn't forget to dig up orchids.

Chen Hong helped her dig up three trees, leaving two in the original spot for seed.

By the time everyone had carried the grapes to the pickup truck parking area halfway up the mountain, they were all exhausted.

After loading all the grapes onto the truck and stacking the empty bamboo baskets together in the pickup truck bed, Chen Hong prepared to take everyone home.

(Of course, apart from a small amount of daylilies and a few chestnuts and walnuts that were free of insects, everything else the children picked that was useless was thrown away.)

There were ten of them in total, but the pickup truck only had five seats. With little Nini included, six people could squeeze into the truck.

After discussing it, Guan Tao led Yu Yang and Xiao Hao Wang Xin home on foot, while the six women, forming a "women's army," took a car home.

Chen Hong wanted Guan Tao to drive them back together, but Guan Tao waved his hands repeatedly, saying, "Sister Chen Hong, you should drive this car back!"

"I dare not drive on such a steep mountain road; just looking at it makes me dizzy. I'd better walk back with Yu Yang and the others. We can walk empty-handed and it'll be much faster."

Chen Hong didn't make things difficult for her. She told everyone to get in the car and sit down, and then she drove straight down the mountain to go home.

When we got home, we found that Nini had fallen asleep in the car. She hadn't taken a nap on the way up the mountain. This child is also fond of novelty, and she couldn't stay awake once she got in the car.

Xiaoyun was told to take the child back to the room to sleep. Chen Hong didn't have time to unload the car; she changed her clothes, washed her hands, and went to the kitchen to cook.

With so many grapes, even Director Jin and Mrs. Guan couldn't unload them, so they had no choice but to listen to Chen Hong and go back to the living room to make tea and rest.
