Chen Hong happily kissed her son's little face, "Okay, then I'll wait for my son to take me to the best university, then Mom will be the happiest mom in the world."
The mother and daughter chatted as they worked. The TV series had ended, and they had peeled and cleaned all the bamboo fungus and bamboo shoots in the basket.
Chen Hong told her son to take a shower and go to bed first, as he had school the next day and that he should develop good habits by going to bed early and getting up early.
After her son fell asleep, Chen Hong took a shower, sat in the living room watching TV, and then took out a large plastic basket of bamboo fungus from her storage space, slowly peeling and cleaning it.
I first peeled out more than 40 jin (20 kg) of bamboo fungus, then went to the kitchen, turned on the dryer, and dried a batch of bamboo fungus before returning to the living room to continue peeling.
It wasn't until 11 p.m. that more than 100 kilograms of fresh mushrooms were peeled, and the dryer had dried two batches of mushrooms.
Chen Hong put all the unfinished work into her space and let the air dryer run. After drying another batch, Chen Hong returned to her bedroom and entered her space through the bathroom.
Chen Hong doesn't know what her biggest takeaway from today is yet, but she believes her patience far surpasses that of ordinary people, having managed to endure until now.
She first took a clean cotton cloth and carefully wiped the nanmu box from top to bottom.
Upon seeing the fully revealed golden nanmu box, Chen Hong was deeply shocked for the first time.
Bathed in light, the wooden box shimmered with a dazzling golden light. "Golden nanmu, golden nanmu, truly worthy of its name!" Chen Hong murmured to herself, captivated by the alluring luster and intoxicating fragrance of the golden nanmu box.
This wooden box is made from three different types of planks with different grain patterns. It appears that several different pieces of Phoebe zhennan wood were used.
The bottom of the box was made of a thick, gold-threaded board. Chen Hong particularly liked the pattern on the lid, which was entirely composed of phoenix tail feathers and shimmered brilliantly in different directions of light.
It was as if a phoenix had actually landed on the lid of the box, and with a slight shake of its head, its tail feathers seemed to come alive, swaying gently in the wind—it was incredibly lifelike.
The four sides of the box are made of Phoebe zhennan wood, which presents a water ripple pattern, making it look particularly layered, just like the surface of water being blown by a breeze, natural and lively, with a good balance of movement and stillness.
These naturally formed patterns are even more lifelike than those painted by artists; they are simply masterpieces of craftsmanship. No wonder Phoebe zhennan wood is known as the "Emperor's Wood."
As expected, it lives up to its reputation. Just look at its dazzling bright yellow color, shimmering and as brilliant as brocade. The unique fragrance it naturally exudes has not dissipated even after thousands of years.
This luxurious wood, symbolizing royal grandeur, is something ordinary families neither dare to use nor can afford!
After admiring the beauty of the golden nanmu box, Chen Hong carefully opened the lid to take a look.
This wooden box didn't even have a lock; it seems to have been left for future generations.
As soon as the wooden box was opened, Chen Hong breathed a sigh of relief. The truth was finally revealed; there weren't actually many gold and silver ornaments inside.
There are only about twenty pieces of ancient jade, mostly jade pendants, jade plaques, belt hooks, thumb rings, and fan and sword pendants used by men.
Most of them are made of mutton fat white jade, with only a few pieces of black jade and green jade. There isn't a single gemstone or red jade. The colors are extremely simple and elegant.
Most of these jade artifacts are carved with patterns such as dragons, unicorns, orchids, bamboo, and bats. Chen Hong doesn't understand jade artifacts or have studied history, so she can't figure out which dynasty these patterns belong to.
However, she could still discern the basic quality. These were all top-quality jades. The mutton fat jade was particularly warm and translucent, while the Xiuyan jade artifacts exuded a sense of grandeur and magnificence, yet the carved patterns were incredibly delicate.
Among these ornaments, Chen Hong discovered a small tiger carved from mutton-fat white jade.
Chen Hong fell in love with it at first sight. She picked it up and carefully wiped it clean with a soft cotton cloth. Holding it in her hand, she slowly played with it and could feel its warmth. Unlike the coolness of other jade artifacts, it was a small jade tiger carved from warm jade.
Now Chen Hong was relieved. It turned out that these things were destined to be hers because Chen Hong was born in the Year of the Tiger, making her the destined person for the cave owner!
Chen Hong filled a basin with water from her spatial dimension, added half a bottle of white wine, and cleaned and disinfected each piece of jade. Now that she was financially secure, she planned to keep all these fine items for herself to enjoy and appreciate.
When I get old, I'll leave it to my children as a family heirloom, so that starting with my generation, my family will have a legacy to carry on!
He added more space water and white wine to the basin, wiped the inside of the golden nanmu box clean, and placed it on the shelf. He looked at it from left to right and couldn't get enough of it. This was the radiance of wealth.
Just as she was about to leave the space, Chen Hong remembered the book of table mat materials. She opened it and looked at it; there were some words she didn't recognize, but she managed to figure out their meaning by guessing.
This is not a martial arts manual, nor a cultivation method, but a basic introductory book that teaches people how to breathe, exhale, and regulate their breath.
After reading it, Chen Hong concluded that it was likely something left behind by a Taoist priest or nun. Aren't those old Taoist priests on TV always sitting motionless on futons, meditating and breathing?
This is similar to the yoga I practice every night, only the movements are different.
She read it carefully twice more, and apart from the unfamiliar words, she understood it roughly. Chen Hong left the space and went to bed.
Unbeknownst to Chen Hong, this tattered book possessed magical power. In her sleep, she was unconsciously practicing the breathing techniques described in the book, as if it were a perfectly natural act.
Long-term yoga practice seemed to have opened a channel for the circulation of energy in her body, and everything was running on its own while she was asleep, without Chen Hong's knowledge.
After getting up in the morning, Chen Hong sent her son out for breakfast and then off to school. She then went to the village head's house; the work in the fields was all finished.
She planned to invite the village elders and their family, along with Uncle Erhu's family, to go to the mountains to pick tea leaves.
