Chapter 358 Yu Yang Discovers Morel Mushrooms

After picking one circle, they moved the leaves to pick the next circle. When Chen Hong wanted to carry the bamboo fungus to the riverbank to dry, she discovered that her son had already "drawn" more than a dozen circles.

Chen Hong laughed so hard! Her son is so talented!

"Son, those circles you drew are really round! Did you use yourself as a compass? Amazing, son, you're so talented!"

Yu Yang hadn't noticed anything until his mother said something, then he stood up and turned around.

"Huh? Did I make this circle?"

Yu Yang was completely bewildered, not quite understanding what was going on.

"My legs went numb from squatting, and I found that it was easier to pick mushrooms while sitting. I never expected this to happen."

The mother and daughter admired Yu Yang's masterpiece for a while; the center of the circle was quite smooth from being rubbed by Yu Yang's little bottom. After resting for a bit, they continued their picking work.

The harvest is the most attractive part. Not only did Chen Hong keep digging bamboo shoots, but Yu Yang, a child, also couldn't stop picking them.

With her two chubby little hands, she worked very nimbly, picking just as many fruits as Chen Hong.

In just one hour, Yu Yang had already filled a basket with picking.

"Mom, my basket is full, can you give me a new one?" Chen Hong, acting as the logistics manager, replaced his basket with a plastic box and placed it within his reach.

"Huh? Mom, where did this plastic box come from? I don't remember bringing a plastic box with us!"

The older the child gets, the harder they are to soothe!

“Oh, this is what Mom stored in the cave when she came last time. It’s so we can use it every year without having to carry it back and forth.”

Yu Yang asked suspiciously, "I didn't see it in the cave just now. Did you hide it? Where did you hide it?"

"You child, you're quite curious! Your mother hides things very well; most people can't find them."

There are still quite a few things in the cave, things I usually store here. You'll see them when you get back after we finish working. Let's get to work!

Yu Yang nodded, thinking that his mother was quite good at hiding things. Many things in his house were hidden by his mother. They were not usually needed, but as soon as they were needed, his mother could take them out immediately without delay.

Chen Hong cut down a few bamboo stalks by the stream, set up a drying rack, laid out a bamboo mat, and hung the bamboo fungus from her basket on the mat to dry.

The open and well-ventilated area by the stream, with its perfect sunlight, is an ideal spot for drying mushrooms.

After drying a basket of bamboo fungus, Chen Hong continued to dig for winter bamboo shoots in the bamboo forest. After digging them up, she gathered them into large piles, preparing to carry them back to the cave that night to peel and remove the skins.

Just then, Yu Yang's exclamation came from the bamboo forest: "Mom, come quick! The fairy in the white dress has turned into a black-pockmarked head!"

Chen Hong was startled, thinking her son had encountered some unknown poison, and quickly ran to his side.

Looking in the direction he was pointing, I exclaimed, "Oh my! Son, you're such a lucky star!"

This isn't bamboo fungus; it's another type of precious fungus. Their name is morel mushroom!

Look at their umbrella-like mushroom caps, uneven and bumpy, resembling a honeycomb, just like the tripe from the two sheep that Grandpa Erhu killed a few days ago.

Therefore, it is called morel mushroom. It has high nutritional and medicinal value, and can supplement nutrition, lubricate the intestines and promote bowel movements, and improve the body's metabolism.

Morel mushrooms and bamboo fungus are both prized edible fungi, both delicious and nutritious, with morel mushrooms costing one to two times more than bamboo fungus.

Son, we're rich! You have such sharp eyes! These morel mushrooms are almost the same color as the soil; you wouldn't notice them unless you looked closely and they were right next to you.

There are quite a few more mushrooms here! Here, son, here's a new box for you. Pick some and put them in here.

"Black Tiger, Glasses, protect our little master. I'm going to wander deep into the bamboo forest to see if I can catch a rabbit or something; we'll stew some mushrooms for dinner tonight."

After telling her son not to run around, Chen Hong headed deeper into the bamboo forest to pick mushrooms.

There were plenty of resources in the bamboo forest. After walking a short distance, Chen Hong found two bamboo rat burrows and used spatial corn to lure them, catching two plump bamboo rats weighing three or four pounds each.

Fearing that his son would be frightened if he saw it, he hid inside and killed the animal, skinned it, chopped it into pieces, and sent it back to the cave.

Avoiding Yu Yang's gaze, Chen Hong collected a lot of bamboo fungus, morel mushrooms, and winter bamboo shoots in the bamboo forest.

There was a huge pile of winter bamboo shoots in the space; even after peeling them, there would still be enough for 300 jin of tender bamboo shoots.

A whole box of bamboo fungus was also harvested, weighing at least 100 kilograms of fresh mushrooms.

Chen Hong laid out bamboo mats on the open space and hung them out to dry.

Unfortunately, there were not many morel mushrooms. Chen Hong searched half of the bamboo forest and only managed to collect about ten kilograms.

However, Chen Hong watered the areas where morel mushrooms and bamboo fungus were growing with her spatial water, so she believed that when she came back next time, a large patch of fungi would definitely sprout up.

Back at Yu Yang's side, Yu Yang was still bending over, carefully searching for morel mushrooms. These mushrooms were more valuable than bamboo fungus, so they needed to collect more.

The mother and daughter had already thoroughly explored this area, and Chen Hong didn't want to move, fearing that Yu Yang would discover the traces. The densely growing microorganisms had already been stored in her spatial storage.

Her son was still diligently searching, and although two dogs were following them, she wasn't worried. She moved a stone to the edge of the bamboo shoot pile and began peeling and removing the outer skin from each of the bamboo shoots she had dug up.

After we finished peeling the mushrooms and went back to the cave, we called Yu Yang to go to the stream to collect the half-dried mushrooms. Then we went back to the cave to start cooking dinner.

"Mom, you really caught a rabbit? There's so much meat on it, this rabbit must be very fat!"

Yu Yang was pleasantly surprised to see his mother stir-frying meat chunks.

"Hmm, not small, weighs three or four pounds. Look, this wild animal looks quite fat, but it's mostly lean meat."

"Son, we're making stew with morel mushrooms tonight. Try it and see if it's fragrant, and how it tastes different from bamboo fungus."
