The next day, when Mu Huaixi sent Ying Mingcheng to the car, he still felt a little uncomfortable.
The step-out bed in my hometown is really durable. The two of them made a fuss until dawn without making any noise.
Ying Mingcheng was talking to his grandparents. Hua Yingbiao, who insisted on coming to see him off, had red eyes and looked more like a young wife than her.
Mu Huaixi's eyes unconsciously fell on his forearm. Even through the thick coat, she could almost see the bloody teeth marks. Last night, Ying Mingcheng had been so brutal that she couldn't bear it. She didn't know how many marks were left on his back and arms, but he still refused to stop. In the end, she cried and begged for mercy, but it didn't work. She could only bite his forearm to vent her anger.
But Ying Mingcheng was not angry at all. He asked her to bite hard, hoping that it would leave a tooth mark that would not disappear for a year so that he could have it as a souvenir.
"......", Mu Huaixi blushed and looked away, but saw him walking straight towards her, and his grandparents and aunt also tactfully left space for the two of them.
Ying Mingcheng hugged her directly, but as politely as if he was hugging a revolutionary friend. He even patted her back in a pretentious manner, without any trace of the madness of last night.
"Xiao Xi, take care of yourself," Ying Mingcheng pursed his lips, released her hand but couldn't help but add, "Don't let yourself be wronged."
He only mentioned himself, and didn't ask her to take good care of grandparents or Xiaohui.
Mu Huaixi was about to cry. She raised her hands and took the initiative to hug Ying Mingcheng, her tears soaking into his black wool coat, "Brother Cheng, remember to answer my call."
"Okay," Ying Mingcheng touched her head and leaned down to whisper in her ear, "I'll come back to see you as soon as possible."
Ying Mingcheng lied.
Until spring came and flowers bloomed in Shengjing and Mu Huaixi officially reported to the college, he had not received a single phone call.
Ying Mingcheng was really busy. As soon as he returned to the regiment headquarters, he organized a large-scale training. Director Le's recovery made a great leap forward in the progress of the project in the institute. After the training, he was sent out to carry out an emergency mission.
The only call he made to the old house was missed because Mu Huaixi went to class. When she came back and heard what Aunt Da Chu conveyed, her longing for him became even deeper.
However, Mu Huaixi had no time to indulge herself. She entered the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Shengjing Medical College as a transfer student. She had too much to learn every day. Knowing that Brother Cheng was safe was enough for her.
Shengjing Medical College is the largest medical college in the three northeastern provinces. All those who can get in are outstanding people. In her class alone, there are three students who come from families of traditional Chinese medicine. The professor likes to ask questions to these three people during class, and their answers are also full of family background, which always makes her feel benefited a lot.
What made Mu Huaixi even happier was that the medical school's library contained countless medical books, including printed versions of the "Golden Chamber" from several dynasties. Although they were not as accurate as the original handed down from her family, they recorded the experiences and prescriptions of many great doctors, which corroborated the prescriptions she knew and contained a lot of insights.
Medical school's schedule is full.
Mu Huaixi gets up early every morning to exercise and read, then rides her bicycle to class. She comes back at noon to feed Xiaohui, goes to class or read in the afternoon, and records what she has learned during the day in the evening.
In just two months, she lost a lot of weight.
Grandma was so distressed that she and her two aunts tried all kinds of delicious food to make her, but the girl didn't recover. Instead, her chin became more and more pointed.
Mu Huaixi didn't think she was too thin. She ate too well during the confinement period and had some fat on her lower abdomen. Now her condition was just right.
In traditional Chinese medicine, it is said that "being thin can make you live a hundred years". Being too thin will cause weight loss, while being fat will cause phlegm. She now exercises every day, and the muscles she lost during childbirth and confinement have slowly grown back, and she is very satisfied.
But the grandmother felt very distressed and hesitated for several days before suggesting to her, "How about you stop feeding Xiaohui?"
Ying Wuhui is now half a year old and has grown his little teeth. He was originally bigger than the other boys, and now he is even whiter and fatter, looking like an eight or nine-month-old baby.
Mu Huaixi didn't expect her grandmother to say that. After thinking about it carefully, she felt that it was time to wean Xiao Huihui. However, she was a little reluctant. After all, the only time she could spend with Xiao Huihui every day was feeding him and putting him to sleep.
Now Xiao Huihui is taken care of by her grandparents and aunts every day. Sometimes she is busy too late at night and sleeps with her grandparents.
"Feed him for a while longer," Mu Huaixi knew that her grandmother was doing this for her own good, but she wanted to pamper Xiao Huihui for a while longer.
Grandma sighed, her eyes sweeping over her waist. "You can't lose any more weight. If you lose any more weight, your dresses will all need to be altered. It won't look good if your dresses are loose."
"Okay," Mu Huaixi agreed with a smile, "I'll have an extra bowl of rice at noon today!"
Previously, she had fallen behind in her studies at medical school and was always in a hurry when she came back at noon. After two months of catching up, she couldn't say that she had caught up with the progress of all the students, but she could finally breathe a sigh of relief.
Today's colleges are not like those in later generations, which initially provided general education. Most of the teachers here were once practicing doctors, and some are still working today. When they first started teaching, they combined theory with practice.
Their Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine now has seven courses: basic theory, ancient medical literature, anatomical theory, diagnostics, Chinese medicine, prescriptions, and pharmacology.
Mu Huaixi had a good knowledge of prescriptions, diagnosis, and traditional Chinese medicine, but his knowledge of ancient medical texts, anatomy, and pharmacology was insufficient. Also, because he entered school later than others, he worked very hard to make up for it and barely kept up with the learning progress.
During her classes, she heard the professor sigh more than once that Chinese medicine was declining because of the interruption of its inheritance. It would be great if more detailed medical prescriptions and diagnostic records could be found.
