Chapter 57 Scolding and Sickness

"Your maternal family is all dead, and you owe us the Xia family several grandchildren, yet you still have the nerve to ask us to take good care of you!"

"Huh? You don't have to pay for your meal?"

"Your clothes don't cost money, do they?"

"You insist on keeping a useless person around, eating until he's eight years old, doing no work at all, and not spending any money?"

"Grandma...I'm not not working," Daya came out of the kitchen tremblingly, holding a broken bowl. Tears of grievance were shaking in her eyes, but she didn't dare let them fall.

"All you do is eat," Xia's mother said, looking at her angrily. She snatched the bowl and was about to hit her, but was startled by a loud kick on the door.

"You are Xia Dazhuang's mother, right?" Mu Huaixi held the door. "How come the door fell down when you touched it lightly? Is Xia Dazhuang here? Call him out to fix it!"

"It's said that the family's reputation is the face of a family. It seems that the Xia family doesn't want this reputation anymore!"

Mother Xia opened her mouth to curse, but Mu Huaixi interrupted her. Mother Xia was stunned for a moment before realizing that she was scolding her. She rushed up angrily and wanted to tear her apart, swearing at her.

Mu Huaixi picked up the Xiaomi in her hand and said, "Auntie Xia, we are here from the health center to express our condolences."

Mother Xia was stunned. Seeing that she and the others behind her were holding things, a smile suddenly appeared on her ferocious face. There was still ferocity in her eyes, but her mouth was already grinning, revealing her incomplete yellow teeth. The upper and lower faces were completely opposite, and it looked as weird as it could be.

"Hurry, hurry, come in!" Mother Xia greeted the guests warmly and reached out to grab the things in Mu Huaixi's hand. "Oh, you should have come earlier. I'm almost starving to death!"

Wang Xiaohua, who was hiding beside the door, stuck out her tongue. She kicked the door in a fit of rage and was shocked herself. Unexpectedly, Dr. Mu went up to hold the door. Just a few words made Xia's mother change her face two or three times.

She shrugged at Li Fengjuan and whispered, "It seems that Doctor Mu is angry too. When have I ever seen her talk so much? I thought she wouldn't curse. I didn't expect that."

Mu Huaixi was indeed angry. She was not the kind of person who meddles in other people's affairs, but she saw the shadow of Zhang's mother in Xia's mother. They were the same kind of people. They gave birth to a son but did not raise him. They spoiled him but had no ability to discipline him. They could only blame all the mistakes on their daughter-in-law and cursed her all day long as if the whole world owed her something.

Mu Huaixi was scolding Xia's mother, but she wasn't actually Xia's mother. If someone familiar with her would notice, the depths of her usually cold eyes seemed to be burning with fireworks, but they were suppressed by forced calmness.

Xia's mother came hurriedly to grab the bag of millet, but she dodged it by slightly turning sideways. Xia's mother lunged forward again, but she used her other hand to hold it between her breasts. Xia's mother cried out in pain, holding her chest and unable to straighten her back.

"You, you, you," Xia's mother tried several times before she stood up. She pointed at her in shock, anger, and fear. Her lips moved several times, but she was captured by her eyes. She wanted to scold but didn't dare. She could only turn to Jiang Wenyuan, who was wearing a military uniform at the door, "Comrade of the People's Liberation Army! Don't you care about this? This person is from your hospital, right? She wants to kill me!"

Jiang Wenyuan hurried over to explain, "Auntie, you misunderstood. We are here to express our condolences."

He also raised a basket of eggs in his hand. Mother Xia still had a greedy look on her face, but she hesitated and did not dare to step forward.

"Auntie Xia, you're wrong. I wanted to save you." Seeing that she didn't believe him, Mu Huaixi said, "Let me ask you, do you have a bitter taste in your mouth when you wake up in the morning, a headache or constipation, can't sleep at night, or wake up in the early morning?"

Mother Xia was full of disdain at first, but the more she listened, the more she became incredulous. She clutched her still aching chest and asked, "You, are you a doctor or a fortune teller? How do you know?"

Mu Huaixi certainly knew that Xia's mother was thin and had a pale face, but her palms and the area around her eyes were red. She wanted to curse at everyone she saw, and it was obvious that she had a typical case of liver fire.

But she didn't say it directly. She just looked at Xia's mother, shook her head solemnly, and then sighed.

Mother Xia panicked for a moment, but her face turned ashen and she gritted her teeth, "Everyone else has experienced what you said, don't even think about lying to me!"

Mu Huaixi shook her head again and took two steps to face Mother Xia. Her expression changed drastically after hearing one sentence. "Auntie, judging by your age, you should have gone through menopause a long time ago, right? Have you had uterine bleeding recently? This is no small matter!"

Mother Xia was so frightened that her lips were trembling. She had indeed had bleeding from her lower body a few days ago. There was no water at home that day, and Yu Xiuhong said that her stomach hurt and she couldn't get up. She scolded the lazy woman for a long time but she still didn't get up. Finally, she went to fetch half a bucket of water to cook. In the evening, she found that her pants were dirty. She thought she was tired, so she pointed at the lazy woman and scolded her for a long time. Unexpectedly, after a few days, there were spots again.

"You, who are you?!" Xia's mother didn't believe she was a doctor at all. How could a doctor predict her illness with such accuracy without even asking questions or taking her pulse? She had complained about other things, but she couldn't possibly reveal anything about her postmenopausal bleeding to anyone else. If anyone knew, she'd be dead or alive!

Mu Huaixi knew she was mistaken at first glance, and without explaining, he stuffed the bag of millet into Xia's mother's arms, "Aunt Xia, I'll go see your daughter-in-law first, and we'll talk later."

How could Mother Xia let her go? At this moment, she could no longer see the little rice and eggs in her eyes. All she could think about was her own illness. She grabbed Mu Huaixi's arm tightly with shaking hands, "Doctor, little Bodhisattva, please, please save me!"

Mu Huaixi just stared at her without saying anything.

This made Mother Xia even more panicked. All she could think about was what she had just said. The more she thought about it, the more frightened she became. Finally, she burst into tears and said, "Little Doctor, you, you must tell me the truth. Do I not have much time left? If I die, what will happen to my son?"

"It's already this time and she's still thinking about her son. If you don't know, you would think Xia Dazhuang is still breastfeeding!" Wang Xiaohua had been watching the show from the back. She muttered softly and rolled her eyes, then looked at Mu Huaixi with admiration. Doctor Mu was really amazing. She scared this evil old lady to death with just a few words!

Mu Huaixi wasn't just trying to scare Old Lady Xia. She told her bluntly, "Your illness has already spread to your liver and lungs. If it gets any worse, you'll be in hell soon. It can be cured, but you can't do it."

"I can do it, I can do it," Xia's mother nodded and pleaded. No one can remain indifferent in the face of life and death. God damn it, she is still waiting to hold her grandson! The Xia family has been a single-line family for five generations. How can she have the face to go down and explain to the old man if she can't see her grandson?

Mu Huaixi pointed at the door and said, "Think carefully. Stand in front of the door and scold your son every day for at least two months."

Mother Xia was dumbfounded. She put on a smile and asked cautiously, "What does this have to do with Da Zhuang? You can scold people if you want to. I can scold the lazy woman at home and the little hoof that doesn't work. Is that okay?"
