Extra: The Little Overlord of the Courtyard 1

"Beep~beep~beep~beep~"

At dawn, loud military bugle calls were heard in the compound of the Qilu Military Region.

The youngest son of Political Commissar Hu jumped up, put on his clothes hastily and ran out. In the dark, he stepped on his eldest brother's calf. The pain was so severe that he hugged his leg and gasped for breath, unable to speak for a long time.

By the time Hu Dahuang came out angrily, the younger brother had already run away.

It happened that the eldest sister of the Hu family came back with breakfast bought from the cafeteria. Seeing him limping out with his eyes full of eye mucus, she couldn't help but laugh, "What's wrong? Did you get beaten in your dream?"

"Don't talk nonsense!" Hu Dahuang was furious. He stretched his nearly fractured leg and asked angrily, "Little Monkey Hu was not quiet during the summer vacation. He almost stepped on me to death early in the morning!"

He had just completed military training and wanted to sleep for three days when he got home, but he didn't expect that his first day's sleep would be interrupted!

"Come and eat, then go to sleep." Hu Dahua didn't take it seriously at all. She put three servings of breakfast on the table and drank some soy milk.

She didn't eat much, so Hu Dahuang cleared out the rest. After finishing, he realized, "Sister, did you buy too little breakfast?"

"Quite a lot. Xiaohu doesn't eat at home now. He has a job and is provided with meals," Hu Dahua answered and went back to the house, leaving Hu Dahuang confused and puzzled.

"Organization? When did the compound accept these little kids? Boy Scouts?"

Hu Xiaohu, or the little monkey as his brothers and sisters called him, was acting crazy until the evening before he came back. The family was finishing their meal at the table when the military bugle sounded again. He grabbed the steamed bun, hurriedly stuffed two mouthfuls of rice into his mouth, and ran away.

The Hu family's parents didn't take it seriously. Hu Dahuang frowned, "What's wrong with the little monkey? What are you going to do?"

"Why bother so much? He's going crazy when he's not at home, and everyone will feel more relaxed, right, Mom?" Hu Dahua didn't care.

When Hu Dahuang saw his mother nodding with a smile, he felt more confused.

The next morning, he woke up early and listened to the sound of the military bugle outside. Only then did he realize that it did not seem to be the sound of the soldiers being called to do morning exercises.

He curled up his legs and waited until the little monkey ran out in a hurry, then he slipped out too.

Hu Xiaohu ran all the way to the small playground behind the compound, where quite a few people had already gathered. He familiarly found his seat in the second row and third column, and stood there greeting everyone around him.

"Three hundred and sixty-eight, what are so many children doing?" Hu Dahuang hid behind a big tree in the small playground, thinking that this was a terrifying force.

As the saying goes, even dogs of seven or eight years old are disgusting. When nearly twenty children of seven or eight years old gather together, their power is comparable to that of five hundred stubborn donkeys, a thousand beagles and twenty thousand mosquitoes.

Just the chattering and hundreds of thousands of whys are enough to make me feel overwhelmed.

Hu Dahuang himself went through that age, so he naturally knew how annoying kids of that age were. But the playground suddenly became quiet, and a big black dog walked out leisurely, catching everyone's attention.

"Hello, General!"

The uniform greetings surprised Hu Dahuang and almost made him laugh. Calling a big dog "General" meant that even dogs would dislike him for his age.

But what happened next was beyond his imagination.

Another big black dog with smooth fur came slowly over, carrying a little girl of seven or eight years old on its back. She had thick black curly hair that stood up playfully. She was wearing a white vest and army green shorts, which could be seen to have been altered by her family from military uniforms.

The little girl picked up the bugle slung at her side and blew it twice. The group of little kids first stood at ease, then stood at attention, and then loudly counted one by one.

"Report! There were supposed to be eighteen people present, and there are actually eighteen people present."

"Report completed!"

Hu Dahuang rubbed his eyes and found it funny to see Wang Geda from next door standing with his head and chest puffed out, reporting to the little girl on the big dog.

This Wang Geda's real name is Wang Bao. He is his grandmother's natal son and one of the most difficult children in the compound.

Last year, Hu Xiaohou had a fight with him, and Wang Bao's grandmother threw a tantrum at his doorstep, requiring the adults from both families to come forward to resolve the situation. He didn't expect that the former hero would surrender so quickly.

Hu Dahuang looked at the little girl on the big dog and asked, "Who is this girl?"

He just went out for training and it's not like he hasn't been home for several years. How come he didn't know about such a person in the compound?

"Today's mission is to go to field number five and pick wheat ears," the little girl said in a soft voice, the thin outline of muscle visible on her waving arms. "The top five performers today will get five points, and I'll treat the top ten to mung bean popsicles. The bottom three will take the general to catch squawking candies tonight."

"Yeah!"

A small cheer broke out, and Hu Dahuang thought to himself, this kid is quite serious, and he knows how to distinguish between rewards and punishments, but what does "candy" mean?

He thought that this little girl was a big spender, that is, she used her "money power" to win over these kids, but by the evening he knew he was wrong.

Hu Xiaohu went out while biting his steamed bun when he was halfway through dinner. Hu Dahuang thought of what he heard in the morning, frowned, and followed him out.

Hu Xiaohu is his younger brother, how could he count down for two days?

This is so embarrassing!

He followed quietly and saw the little monkey happily holding the insect net and catching cicada monkeys for the two black-skinned generals to eat together with his two brothers.

It was midsummer, and the cicadas on the trees were plump and juicy. They made a crunching sound when they fell into the general's mouth, and they were indeed delicious candies.

The corner of Hu Dahuang's mouth twitched. His brother liked to catch cicadas. It seemed that he was deliberately lazy in working during the day just to catch cicadas at night to satisfy his own pleasure.

Since it wasn't a real countdown, he felt relieved. But just as he was about to leave, he saw a group of children around the same age of seven or eight coming from the opposite direction. The tall and strong one in the lead tore up Hu Xiaohu's insect net as soon as he arrived.

"What are you doing?" Hu Xiaohu stepped forward and pushed him, but he was bounced to the ground.

The tall and strong boy pointed at him and laughed, "You're as skinny as a monkey, and you dare to compete with us for territory? Don't you know that the cicada monkeys in the trees by the lake are all from the Air Force compound?"

"I don't know." The little girl jumped down from the tree, helped Hu Xiaohu up, and then pushed the cicada in her hand into his face. "If you call him, will he answer?"

"You!" The tall and strong boy took a step back and snorted at her. "I heard that your army compound has a new boss. Tell him to come out and fight!"

"Do you really want to fight?" The little girl tilted her head.

"Well, he's not scared, is he? How can he be the boss if he's scared? Hahahaha!"

Hu Dahuang felt something was wrong. There were more than ten children in the Air Force compound, and his brother was afraid that he would be bullied. But just as he was about to go out to mediate, he saw the little girl punch the person opposite in the face, which frightened both sides.

Hu Xiaohu was smart. He got up and rushed forward, shouting, "Boss! Beat them up! I'll protect you!"
