Mou Xuan stepped into the library again, and a familiar scent of ink mixed with a faint smell of mold hit him in the face.
The towering bookshelves and the quiet reading area, everything is the same as before the end of the world, but with an eerie calmness.
He looked around, as if he could see the students who had once studied hard here, but now they were scattered somewhere.
"I hope I can find something useful this time." Mou Xuan thought.
He walked over to the area he had searched before, his eyes running over the rows of book spines.
This time, he didn't limit himself to a specific type of book, but expanded his search as much as possible.
He read through geology, meteorology, and even ancient documents.
Time passed by minute by minute, and the library was so quiet that you could hear a pin drop.
This silence made Mou Xuan feel a little depressed, but it also made him more focused on the task at hand.
"Young man, are you here to look up information again?" An old voice sounded behind him, scaring Mu Xuan.
He turned around and saw that it was the library's director, Liu, an old man with gray hair and thick glasses.
"Hello, Director Liu." Mou Xuan greeted politely.
"I've seen you coming here a lot recently. What major topic are you researching?" Director Liu asked with a smile, his eyes full of curiosity.
Mou Xuan naturally would not tell the truth, but just vaguely said that he was doing some academic research.
"Young man, it's a good thing to have a spirit of research." Director Liu nodded, "However, sometimes changing your thinking may bring unexpected gains. For example, have you ever paid attention to the library's... basement?" When Director Liu said the word "basement", his voice lowered a few degrees and his eyes became a little flickering.
Mou Xuan's heart moved. Basement?
He had never thought about this place before.
"The basement? Is there any special information there?"
Director Liu smiled mysteriously and said, "Some things can only be understood, not expressed in words. Young man, go and see for yourself." After that, he turned and left, leaving Mou Xuan standing there alone, lost in thought.
After leaving the library, Mou Xuan went straight to the abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of the city.
The door of the warehouse was open, and it was filled with all kinds of miscellaneous items, emitting a pungent musty smell.
He carefully avoided the broken glass and rusty metal objects scattered on the ground and walked deeper into the warehouse.
Suddenly, a dark shadow jumped out from the corner, holding a rusty iron rod in his hand.
"Who?!" The person who came was the scavenger Chen whom we met before.
He stared at Mou Xuan with a vigilant look.
"It's me." Mou Xuan replied indifferently, not wanting to get entangled with him too much.
"What are you doing here?" Chen the scavenger obviously didn't believe what Mou Xuan said and held the iron rod in his hand even tighter.
Mou Xuan didn't want to waste time explaining, so he said directly: "I'll find something that won't affect you."
Scavenger Chen sneered: "Everything in this warehouse belongs to me! If you dare to touch it, don't blame me for being rude!"
Mou Xuan's eyes turned cold, and a powerful aura emanated from him. Chen the scavenger took a step back unconsciously, and the iron rod in his hand trembled slightly.
"I advise you..." Just as Mou Xuan was about to speak, he suddenly heard a subtle sound coming from deep in the warehouse...
Wait, what's that sound?
”
Mou Xuan rubbed his sore eyes and sighed.
The vast sea of books in the library made him feel dizzy.
"Oh my god, what the hell is this? It's all nonsense. I can't find any useful information at all!" He muttered to himself and scratched his hair in annoyance.
I've been searching for quite some time, but I haven't found any information about doomsday supplies, let alone a disaster prevention manual.
The air in the library was so stuffy that it was suffocating, and so quiet that one could hear one's heartbeat. Mou Xuan felt like a headless fly trapped in an information cocoon, buzzing around but unable to find a way out.
"Was it the wrong choice for me to come back to the library?" He began to doubt his previous judgment.
Just when he was about to give up and prepare to lie down, a familiar figure appeared in his sight.
"Young man, I see you've been wandering around here for a long time. Have you encountered any problems?" Director Liu pushed his reading glasses on his nose and looked at him with a smile.
Mou Xuan felt like he had grabbed a life-saving straw and quickly told Director Liu about his predicament.
"Director, you read a lot of books. Do you have any...special...materials to recommend?" He expressed his needs as tactfully as possible. After all, asking directly for a guide to survival in the apocalypse was a bit too shocking.
Director Liu smiled mysteriously: "Special materials? There are plenty of them in the library! But it depends on whether you can find them." He paused, lowered his voice and said, "I remember that there is a batch of... non-public documents in the library, which may contain what you want. But..."
When Mou Xuan heard the word "not public", his eyes suddenly lit up, as if he was sleepy and wanted a pillow.
"But what?" he asked eagerly.
Director Liu pointed to a corner deep inside the library and said, "I won't tell ordinary people about that area..."
Following Director Liu's instructions, Mou Xuan came to a dark corner deep in the library.
The place was covered with dust and the air was filled with a stale smell. On the bookshelf were some documents that looked very old, exuding a mysterious atmosphere.
Mou Xuan picked up a book at random, opened it and saw that it contained some records about ancient alchemy!
"Oh my god, can this thing be considered special information?" Mou Xuan complained, but he still patiently continued to search, just in case there was any unexpected discovery?
