Mou Xuan pressed his knuckles against the edge of the holographic screen, making a metallic friction sound.
The emergency lights on the third underground floor of the medical department turned dark red as the alarm sounded.
Chen Yao quickly called up the three-dimensional model of the transportation route, and the turbulence data under the ice surface of Mojiang River was displayed on the bulletproof glass, forming distorted ripples.
"The last communication from the Seventh Search Team was forty-seven seconds ago." Medical student Sun rushed into the monitoring room holding a data tablet. The shoulder of his protective suit was still stained with the smell of formalin from the anatomy laboratory. "They mentioned that there was a metallic collision sound under the ice."
Doctor Gu unbuttoned the collar of his white coat and slammed the medical tablet onto the operating table, making a muffled sound. “We’re pulling people out for training now? When the cold wave swallows up those ECMO devices, we won’t even be able to keep the operating tables!”
Mou Xuan suddenly pulled out the tactical dagger nailed to the map, and the tip of the knife picked up the real-time location of the seventh search team.
The ice-blue track broke into a jagged shape at the 13th bridge pier in Mojiang, subtly overlapping with the remaining image of the time power three days ago.
"Chen Yao will lead three teams to Jiang'an to set up a temporary observation station." Mou Xuan threw the access card of the medical department to medical student Sun, and the metal card drew a parabola in the air. "You will be given twelve hours to prove the feasibility of the training plan."
The disinfection lamp reflected a cold light on the combination lock of the cold storage. When Nurse Qian was standing on tiptoe to carry the blood bags, the alarm sounding that the transport convoy was attacked scared her so much that she almost smashed the cold storage box.
Doctor Gu snatched the centrifuge tube from her hand with a gloomy face: "You can't even handle the basic equipment, and you want to learn how to do clinical work?"
"I need thirty pathology reports of different mutant strains." Medical student Sun inserted the access card into the holographic projector, and the tomographic image of the Mojiang ice layer immediately covered the entire surgery observation room. "And the postoperative infection data of amputees in the last three months."
Infectious disease expert Li took off his protective mask and sneered, but when he saw the metal structure faintly flashing under the ice in the projection, his pupils contracted.
He grabbed the data tablet of Medical Student Sun and swiped it quickly: "Bring up these microscopic images of the wound ulcers, and play them at twelve times the speed."
When the cold wave warning was upgraded to orange, Nurse Qian was changing the dressings for amputees in the intensive care unit (ICU) ward.
The patient suddenly convulsed, causing the arterial tourniquet to burst, and the spurting blood covered her goggles.
She trembled as she reached for the call bell, only to hear Dr. Gu scolding an intern in the corridor.
"Hold here!" Nurse Qian rushed forward and pressed the ruptured femoral artery with the weight of her entire body. The front of her protective suit was instantly soaked with blood. "Hand me the hemostat! Now!"
When Doctor Gu rushed in, he saw the girl's bloody wrist tightly gripping the patient's thigh. Her protective mask was severely fogged up, and her facial features could not be seen clearly.
He opened the first aid kit half a beat faster than usual and stuffed the hemostatic gauze accurately into the gap between the wounds opened by Nurse Qian's fingers.
"The dilution ratio of the prothrombin activator was recorded incorrectly three times." When Dr. Gu pressed the confirmation button on the surgical recorder, Nurse Qian realized that her legs were shaking constantly. "But the compression hemostasis technique... passed."
The holographic screen suddenly burst into a blinding blue light, and Medical Student Sun overlapped the ice layer scan with the autopsy report from three weeks ago.
The coffee cup in Expert Li's hand fell to the ground, and the brown liquid spread along the lines of the radiation-proof floor to the tips of Mou Xuan's boots.
"It's a mutant of the iron wireworm!" Medical student Sun pulled up the chassis structure diagram of the transport vehicle. "When the temperature is minus 20 degrees, they will actively look for metal heat sources to build nests. When the Seventh Search Team passes through a weak area of the ice layer-"
The moment Mou Xuan grabbed the walkie-talkie, Chen Yao's drone swarm had already passed over the ice surface of Mojiang River.
In the thermal imaging screen, dozens of living creatures with orange-red light were entangled in the anti-skid chains of the transport vehicle.
When she pressed the electromagnetic pulse launch button, the windbreak tent of the Jiang'an Observation Station was whistling in the strong wind.
When the first batch of trained medical students successfully removed the iron wire worm eggs from the patient's body, expert Li placed his treasured pre-apocalyptic medical books in front of medical student Sun.
Doctor Gu silently transferred Nurse Qian's shift to the intensive care unit. Administrator Zhou was squatting behind the supply box counting the newly arrived hemostatic gauze.
Chen Yao took off her protective mask that was covered with ice crystals, and the ultraviolet disinfection lamp in the corridor of the medical department cast tiny spots of light on her eyelashes.
The neuralgic burning pain in the back of Mou Xuan's neck began to reoccur. In the remaining images of his time ability, he saw Chen Yao's fingers sliding across the holographic screen in a future that had not yet happened.
The ultraviolet disinfection lamp reflected a cold blue on the metal door frame, and Chen Yao's protective boots left long and thin water marks on the ground.
When she sealed the last sample of iron wire worms into the cryogenic chamber, her fingertips turned purple from the minus 40-degree cold.
Mou Xuan pushed open the door of the autopsy room and saw her tearing open the frostbite cream bag with her teeth.
"The Seventh Search Team brought back medical alcohol." Mou Xuan took off his tactical gloves, held her frozen right hand and pressed it behind his neck.
There were traces of burns left by the use of the time power, and the skin temperature was three degrees higher than that of ordinary people.
Chen Yao's eyelashes trembled, and condensed ice crystals fell on Mou Xuan's epaulettes.
The metal badge had been corroded by the corpse poison when they rescued the last batch of antibiotics from the incinerator three months ago.
An alarm suddenly sounded in the disinfection passage, and Administrator Zhou kicked open the iron door of the supply room: "Medical student Sun took away three boxes of freeze-dried plasma!" The supply list in his hand was dyed blood red by the emergency light, "And this--" half of the pass printed with a snake emblem was slapped on the operating table.
Mou Xuan's pupils suddenly contracted.
This special anti-counterfeiting ink was only used in confidential military documents before the end of the world, but now it is oozing a strange fluorescent green on the edge of the pass.
