Mou Xuan's heart sank as he watched the energy signal on the submarine's detection system turn from red to purple and finally almost burst out of the screen.
That thing is so fast!
"Wu Shenhai, return home immediately! Full speed!" Mou Xuan's voice sounded a little hoarse due to nervousness. He stared at the screen. The light spot representing the unknown energy was approaching at an incredible speed.
Wu Shenhai, a dark-skinned man with sharp eyes, heard the words without any hesitation. His hands flew on the operating table and he quickly issued instructions: "Maximize the output power of the thrusters! Turn! Emergency ascent!"
The submarine vibrated violently, drawing a rapid arc in the narrow deep-sea channel.
In the dark sea water, the beam of light from the searchlight can only illuminate a small area ahead, adding to the tension of the escape.
"Report! The energy source is approaching quickly!" The observer's voice trembled and echoed in the narrow cabin. Everyone's nerves were stretched to the extreme.
Mou Xuan felt his palms were full of sweat. He clenched his fists tightly and tried to stay calm.
What exactly is that energy?
Why does it appear in the deep sea channel?
There is no time to worry about these problems at the moment, the most important thing is to survive.
The diving boat shuttled rapidly through the channel, and the rock walls on both sides retreated rapidly, as if they were a pair of hideous faces, mocking their embarrassing escape.
Time passed by minute by minute, and each second seemed as long as a century.

"That was a close call!" Mou Xuan wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, his heart still beating wildly.
"It seems... to have stopped?" The observer's voice was filled with a hint of disbelief.
On the screen, the light spot representing the energy source indeed stopped moving, but it was still flashing a dazzling purple light, like a dormant beast.
"Don't take it lightly! Keep moving at full speed!" Mou Xuan didn't dare to let his guard down. Who knew if that thing would catch up with him again.
Under Wu Shenhai's control, the submarine rushed out of the deep-sea channel like an arrow and returned to the sun-drenched sea surface.
When they saw the familiar base, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
However, before they could recover from the joy of surviving the disaster, the scene before them plunged them into despair once again.
The originally lush vegetation around the base has completely changed.
All kinds of strange-shaped plants grew wildly, with vines entwined and branches and leaves lush, surrounding the entire base without any escape.
These plants emit an eerie light, and the air is filled with a pungent smell.
"What's going on? What are these?" Mou Xuan asked in shock.
"Mutated plants!" Defense Captain Song replied solemnly, "They appeared suddenly and grew at an alarming rate. We can't resist them at all!"
The defense system in the base has been activated, and laser cannons and energy weapons continue to bombard the mutated plants, but the effect is minimal.
These plants have extremely strong vitality and can regenerate quickly even if they are blown into pieces.
Botanist Gao looked pale and nervous as he reported to Mou Xuan: "These mutant plants will release a toxic gas, and our protective suits won't last long!"

The top priority is to stop their spread, clear out the mutated plants around the base, and fight for a chance of survival for mankind.
"How is the progress of the construction of fortifications?" Mou Xuan's voice was low and powerful, with unquestionable majesty.
"Report to the commander. The defensive fortifications on the east, south and west sides have been initially completed. However, the terrain on the north is complex and the construction speed is slower." A young soldier saluted with a hint of uneasiness in his tone.
"Speed up!" Mou Xuan ordered firmly, "All defensive fortifications must be completed before tonight! In addition, let Professor Gao and Researcher Qin come up with an effective plan for the mutant plants as soon as possible!"
