Chapter 478 Final Verdict

The night was as dark as ink and the lights in the command center were bright, but the air suddenly became heavy because of the news brought by the signalman.

"An encrypted communication from Tan Long?" Mou Xuan's brows were tightly knitted together, a hint of coldness flashing in his deep eyes.

This name, like a leech attached to one's bones, always jumps out to stir up trouble at critical moments.

"Yes, leader! It has been preliminarily decrypted. The other party... the other party wants to speak to you by name!" The signalman's voice was still a little unstable, and he was obviously intimidated by the other party's arrogance.

"Take it." Mou Xuan said in a deep voice, with no trace of emotion on his face.

The more critical the moment, the calmer he is.

Soon, the encrypted communication was transferred to the main screen.

After a brief flash of snow, a strange face appeared in the center of the screen.

This man was about fifty years old, with sinister eyes and a faint sneer on the corners of his mouth. He was not Tan Long himself.

"Alliance leader Mou Xuan, I have long heard of your great name." A hoarse voice sounded, with undisguised arrogance, "Tan Long is ignorant and has caused you a lot of trouble. However, from now on, I will take over. Oh, by the way, your Mr. Yu Hong, who has abandoned the dark and joined the light, is now a guest at my place."

The screen changed and showed the traitor Yu, with a bruised face and nose, tied to a chair. His eyes were dazed and it was obvious that he had been tortured a lot.

"Look, this is the fate of a traitor." The sinister man said in a cold voice, "Alliance Leader Mou, I will give you three days to lead your alliance and pledge loyalty to our 'Divine Punishment' organization. Otherwise, I don't mind turning this small gathering place into a true apocalyptic ruin. As for Yu Hong, the so-called 'intelligence' he provided was just an appetizer that I deliberately asked him to leak."

"Divine Punishment" organization!

Mou Xuan's pupils suddenly shrank. The terrifying existence in the traitor's mouth finally showed its fangs!

"Do you think I will believe your lies?" Mou Xuan snorted coldly, his momentum not losing at all. "Now that Yu Hong has fallen into your hands, whether he lives or dies has nothing to do with the alliance. He has long been abandoned by the alliance."

The sinister man on the other side of the screen seemed to have not expected Mou Xuan to be so tough. He was slightly startled, then grinned and said, "What a calm and decisive leader Mou! I hope you can stay this tough. I will come to verify it myself in three days. Remember, my patience is limited."

The communication stopped abruptly and the screen returned to darkness.

There was dead silence in the command center.

"Alliance leader, this..." A senior executive couldn't help but speak, with worry in his tone.

Mou Xuan waved his hand, his eyes sharp as a knife: "It's just a provocation from the enemy. The more they bluff, the more it shows that they have something to hide." He turned to Chen Yao and said in a slower tone: "Chen Yao, select twenty elite soldiers from the people you trust and equip them with the best weapons. After daybreak, we will go to a place."

Chen Yao immediately understood Mou Xuan's intention, and her beautiful face was full of determination: "Yes! I will ensure that the mission is completed!" She knew that Mou Xuan was going to verify the authenticity of the traitor's intelligence and the truth of his capture.

"Leader, isn't this too risky?" Zhou Yi, the conservative representative of the Zhou Alliance, couldn't help but frown. "Yu Hong is a traitor, and now he has fallen into the hands of the enemy. If he..."

"Mr. Zhou," Mou Xuan interrupted him, "Yu Hong is a traitor, but the information he sent back last time and his statement in the square today, and now that the 'Divine Punishment' organization has taken the initiative to jump out, it further proves the value of his information. We can't give up any opportunity to reveal the truth and strike the enemy because of past betrayal."

Lu Bowen, the leader of the tolerant faction of the Lu Alliance, nodded and agreed: "What the leader said is absolutely right. If Yu Hong was really kidnapped in order to pass on important information, then we should find out the truth. Otherwise, wouldn't it discourage those who really want to make up for their mistakes?"

Mou Xuan glanced at everyone and said, "I have made up my mind. Finding out the last location where Yu Hong was seen is crucial for us to formulate the next plan. As for the threat of 'divine punishment', three days is enough time for us to do a lot of things."

The next morning, the dawn was just breaking.

Led by Mou Xuan himself and accompanied by Chen Yao, an elite team consisting of twenty of the alliance's top players quietly left the base and headed towards the location where the traitor sent the last signal - an abandoned chemical plant on the outskirts of the city.

The chemical plant had long been dilapidated in the apocalypse, and the ruins were filled with a pungent chemical smell.

"Search separately, pay attention to safety, and don't miss any clues!" Mou Xuan gave the order, and the team members immediately dispersed and sneaked into every corner like cheetahs.

Chen Yao followed closely beside Mou Xuan, holding a special alloy dagger in her hand, and observing her surroundings vigilantly.

Not only is she agile, but she is also meticulous and can often discover details that ordinary people overlook.

"There are signs of a struggle here." A team member whispered at the door of a dusty control room.

Mou Xuan and Shen Yao arrived quickly.

There were some broken parts scattered on the ground, and there were several obvious scratches on the wall. There was a faint smell of blood in the air. Although it was very faint, it could not hide from Mou Xuan's keen sense of smell.

"The blood is very fresh, no more than 24 hours old." Chen Yao squatted down and carefully examined an inconspicuous dark red stain. "From the direction of the splash, the injured person was resisting at the time."

Mou Xuan's eyes fell on a secret compartment under the console that had been forcibly pried open, and it was empty.

"Yu Hong mentioned that he hid a key piece of information about the internal structure of the 'Divine Punishment' organization and Tan Long's latest movements, and planned to hand it over to the Alliance." Mu Xuan pondered, "It seems that he was ambushed while trying to obtain or send intelligence."
