Chapter 109 Arguments at the Head of the Bed are Reconciled at the Foot
At this moment, the couple each had their own thoughts, but they were not on the same page.
After a brief standoff, Xie Shang, brimming with arrogance and superiority, was waiting for Jiang Fenghua to take the initiative to beg him. He then picked up the files on his desk and began reading, burying his head in his work.
When handling official business, he remains unaffected by anything. His striking features are clear and defined, and his deep eyes gleam with intense light, exuding confidence.
Jiang Fenghua admitted that Xie Shang's focused work was charming; he was the type of man women liked. She also knew he was being a little temperamental, and usually she was the one who would try to coax him. He was probably used to it. She wouldn't ask him for anything anymore; let him do whatever he wanted.
She was also ready to stand her ground, so she turned around and headed for the door.
Xie Shang said sarcastically, "You're just leaving like this? Don't you want to know anything about Zhang Yumo's fiancé, Li Cheng? After all, you care about them so much." But you've never cared about me like this before.
Jiang Fenghua had dressed up carefully before coming. She was gentle and charming, with clear and bright eyes, like a fairy who bewitched Xie Shang's heart and soul.
"For so many days, Your Highness has been ignoring me, hasn't he?" Jiang Fenghua seemed to have given up on knowing and wanted to confront him directly. Her voice was no longer sweet or gentle as she turned and walked out.
"Jiang Fenghua." Xie Shang, who had a bad temper, called her name again.
She had no choice but to obediently retreat. She was tall and slender, her strapless dress hugging her slim waist. She stood obediently by his desk, not saying a word, as if she was deliberately being stubborn.
Xie Shang exuded an aura of majestic kingship, his voice cold yet tinged with helplessness, "Come here."
Jiang Fenghua gracefully moved across the desk and stood firmly in front of him. Since the Prince of Heng had given the order, she had no choice but to go over.
Xie Shang stepped back half a step, stretching his long legs toward her, and said in a deep voice, "Is this how you anger me?"
Xie Shang wanted to say, "Since you're already here, you could have tried to coax me a little more. It was just a little more, but you suddenly left."
He felt a tightness in his chest, as if he had become her tool. Yet, he couldn't help but want to help her investigate Li Cheng, and he actually did so, without telling Jiang Fenghua.
He thought that Jiang Fenghua wouldn't find anything even if she investigated on her own, and she would definitely come to him for help. But was this the attitude of someone asking for help?
Jiang Fenghua clicked her tongue, thinking, "He really knows how to turn the tables. He was the one who got angry for no reason."
She knew that there was a limit to anger; occasional anger was flirting, but excessive anger would only push him further away.
She sat on his lap, looking aggrieved, and said, "Your Majesty, I've come. It's because Your Majesty is ignoring me. You cruelly abandoned me that day, and I haven't seen you for half a month... I thought Your Majesty only had Consort Su in your heart and eyes." This sentence showed that she was jealous, and jealousy meant that she cared about him.
Seeing her so weak and listless, and remembering that he had indeed abandoned her that day, he felt a pang of guilt.
He explained, “Although I went to the Sandalwood Courtyard these past few days, my heart was filled with thoughts of you, Jiang Fenghua. You heartless little thing, you haven’t come even once. If you hadn’t known that Zhang Yumo was getting married, would you still have come?”
Jiang Fenghua was surprised that Xie Shang would lower himself to say such heartwarming words. She smiled and hugged his neck, "Although I haven't come to see Your Highness, I haven't missed you either. Consort Su reports Your Highness's whereabouts to me every day. Since that's the case, how could I bother you?"
Her witty remarks were a veiled complaint, and also an explanation for why she hadn't gone to see him.
Xie Shang knew that Wanwan would do this. Wanwan had been much more obedient lately, studying very hard, and even asked him to give her some pointers. In addition, he was angry, so he went directly to the Sandalwood Courtyard.
Are you jealous?
Jiang Fenghua cursed inwardly, "You dog of a man, you only feel superior when women are fighting over you!"
She sat sideways and said softly, "Your Majesty, I wish to see you, but you do not wish to see me. I feel distressed and suffocated, as if I am ill."
Xie Shang's eyes were full of doting affection. He straightened her body, wrapped his arms around her waist, pressed her tightly against his body, and kissed her forehead. "Are you still feeling unwell?"
Jiang Fenghua smiled, her cheeks flushed, and she shook her head shyly, "I don't feel uncomfortable anymore."
She has exquisite features, beautiful eyebrows and eyes, and every smile and frown exudes charm.
Seeing that she was happy, Xie Shang kissed her lips again, teasing her with a mix of welcoming and resisting: "When did I ever say that I didn't want to see the princess?"
"Your Highness, you're so annoying." She acted as if she deeply loved him, and she couldn't help but admire her own acting skills.
Xie Shang's desire was easily ignited by her, and he couldn't help but want to kiss her.
He whispered sweet nothings to her, and Jiang Fenghua giggled and quickly dodged away. He became even happier, a tender smile spreading across his lips. A ripple seemed to run through his heart, then coalesced into two sparks in his eyes.
Jiang Fenghua had built a solid wall in her heart that no one could cross, but her body was telling a different story; she was completely defenseless against Xie Shang's kiss.
Xie Shang wanted to go further, but Jiang Fenghua stopped him, saying gently, "Your Highness, this is the study."
"Can you turn it off now?" His deep voice sounded in her ear.
Jiang Fenghua wrapped her arms around his neck and shook her head, "I cannot."
Xie Shang carried her to the bed in the inner room, and after a passionate encounter, Jiang Fenghua was already exhausted.
She even wondered if he and Su Tingwan were also so engrossed in their relationship.
Xie Shang returned to his old ways, still doting on her and focusing all his attention on her.
She felt that no matter how much she and Xie Shang argued, they could easily resolve their differences after a good night's sleep. This was what people often referred to as "arguing at the head of the bed and making up at the foot of the bed."
He pulled her into his arms. "Do you want to know what kind of person Li Cheng is?"
Jiang Fenghua's eyes suddenly lit up, "What does Your Highness know?"
"Your attitude changes the moment Zhang Yumo is mentioned," Xie Shang said in a deep voice.
Jiang Fenghua quickly pleaded with him, her voice soft and sweet, "Your Majesty and Sister Zhang are kindred spirits, and I didn't want her to be unhappy, so I showed her a little more concern. I promise that it was absolutely no more than the concern I showed for Your Majesty."
He then asked, "What did you call me?"
Jiang Fenghua pleaded ingratiatingly, "Husband, please help Ruan Ruan."
Xie Shang affectionately tapped her forehead, "I really can't do anything with you. I'm so angry that you meddle in other people's business, but I can't help but help you investigate Li Cheng."
"Your Majesty, I will repay you well." Jiang Fenghua kissed his thin lips lightly, like a dragonfly skimming the water.
After some teasing, Xie Shang pounced on her like a hungry wolf, devouring her completely.
Jiang Fenghua thought that Xie Shang would take her life sooner or later, and wondered if he was unsatisfied with Su Tingwan.
