"Slave, slave girl dare not!"
The little maid raised her head, tears welling up in her eyes. Her jaw bones were almost broken by Princess Pingyang, but she didn't dare to break free.
"Hmph!" Princess Pingyang shook her hand away. "I think you're quite daring!"
"I like your personality very much!"
Princess Pingyang smiled at the maid and asked, "What's your name?"
"Your servant Qiuyue."
"Qiuyue!" Princess Pingyang chewed on the name slowly. "My personal maid is called Qiushuang. You two look like sisters."
Princess Pingyang left after she finished speaking, leaving Qiuyue standing there in a daze. She knelt straight and her body collapsed until Princess Pingyang was far away.
That was close! So scary!
Princess Pingyang was spoiled by the late emperor, and became arrogant and domineering, and her methods were cruel and vicious.
Qiuyue thought that Princess Pingyang would severely punish her, but unexpectedly she let her go.
This made her feel relieved and she breathed a long sigh of relief. Only then did Qiuyue feel cold sweat all over her back.
"Qiuyue, what's wrong with you?" Zhuye asked when he met her.
Doctor Li asked Qiuyue to make some medicine for the second grandmother to protect the fetus. After waiting for such a long time, Qiuyue still didn't come. The second grandmother asked her to come out to see the situation. Unexpectedly, she saw Qiuyue collapsed on the ground with a face full of cold sweat.
Zhuye walked over and stretched out his hand to pull her up, and asked with concern: "Are you okay?"
"If the medicine is spilled, just boil another bowl."
As he spoke, Zhuye took out his handkerchief and wiped the sweat off Qiuyue's forehead. "Did you scare yourself into a cold sweat?"
"I, I just ran into Princess Pingyang and accidentally spilled the medicine bowl on her dress."
"Oh." Zhuye understood that Princess Pingyang was a dangerous presence wherever she went.
"Did she give you any trouble?" Zhuye held Qiuyue's arm, looking left and right to check if she was injured.
Qiuyue shook her head: "No."
She was also really wondering why Princess Ping'an let her go today.
"That's good." Zhuye took Qiuyue's arm and walked towards the kitchen. "Come on, I'll go with you to make medicine for Second Grandma."
Gu Yunran was reading in the yard. Normally, she would read some books on women's virtues and female training. But when she arrived at the Mu Mansion, she became interested in medical books and even taught herself acupuncture.
Today, Princess Pingyang held her hand so tightly that she almost broke the bones. If she hadn't carried a silver needle that pricked Princess Pingyang's acupuncture points, Princess Pingyang would have really broken her wrist before letting go.
Gu Yunran was really glad that she had not wasted her time after marrying into the Mu family and instead taught herself medicine.
"Second Madam, the medicine is ready." Zhuye came in with the medicine, placed the bowl on the table, stirred it with a spoon, and cooled it to the right temperature before handing it to Gu Yunran. "Second Madam, drink it."
Gu Yunran held the medicine bowl and drank it. It was such a bitter medicine, she didn't like to drink it spoonful by spoonful. It was so bitter, but it would be less painful if she drank it all at once.
"Second Madam, the Thousand Mile Guards are here." The little girl from the outer courtyard came to report.
"Let him in."
Qianli walked in wearing a black tight-fitting gown and carrying a small basket.
He chuckled when he saw Gu Yunran: "Second Madam, this is the cat that the master sent to you as a gift."
Zhuye took the bamboo basket from Qianli's hand, lifted the mat and took a look: "Second Grandma, look, it's so cute."
Zhuye gently took the cat out of the basket and walked in front of Gu Yunran. "It looks just like Little Meow."
Gu Yunran looked at the cat, smiled faintly, and then a layer of sadness appeared on her face.
Only now did she remember that Xiao Miao must have discovered the problem long ago and stopped her.
Xiao Miao died for her.
Zhuye saw that Gu Yunran looked unhappy, until she remembered Xiao Miao again, and she put the cat back into the bamboo basket.
"Guard Qianli, my young lady said that no matter how good the new one is, it can never replace the old one."
"Take this cat back with you. She doesn't want to make Little Meow sad."
Qianli scratched his head awkwardly: "Okay, I'll take it away right away."
He stuck his head into the room and looked around. He wanted to say something, but he pursed his lips and hesitated for a long time before saying anything.
"Second Madam, I, your subordinate, will go back first."
"Okay." Gu Yunran nodded lightly.
Qianli continued, "The Emperor suddenly sent the master to the border without even giving the master a chance to come back and say goodbye. You won't blame the master, will you?"
"No." Gu Yunran's expression was calm, his face showing no emotion. "The king's order cannot be disobeyed."
She knew that the Northern Barbarians had always been restless and had tried to stir up trouble within Tiansheng several times, but her husband had always thwarted them.
This winter is particularly cold, and the Northern Barbarians have suffered a snowstorm. They are already short of supplies, and now they have no choice but to take action.
Qianli chuckled and said, "I know that Second Madam is very understanding of justice."
"Why didn't you go?" Gu Yunran suddenly asked, "As his former deputy general, shouldn't you have gone with him?"
Qianli: "I wanted to go too, but the organization said he left in a hurry and didn't have time to explain many things to you. The master was worried, so he asked me to stay."
Gu Yunran: "I'm not such a delicate person. I have my grandmother at home, so I won't be wronged."
Besides, she has been the mistress for so many years and has seen all kinds of dirty things in the backyard. She can handle it.
Qianli pursed his lips to speak privately, but in the end said nothing.
Gu Yunran looked at him hesitatingly and asked with a smile, "What's the matter with you?"
"I……"
Qianli scratched his head and before he could finish his words, a familiar voice came from outside.
