Chapter 2: Avoid

"Yun Ran, do you have any objections?"

Gu Yunran sneered. She remembered that the person sent to her on this day in her previous life was Lu Changzhi, the illegitimate son of Lu Qingzhou and his childhood sweetheart.

At that time, Old Madam Lu also said the same thing, and added that she and Lu Qingzhou had been married for three years but had no children, and that it was because she was infertile.

She wanted to adopt the child under her name and raise him as her eldest son.

Gu Yunran looked at Lu Qingzhou with a wry smile. They had been married for three years, but Lu Qingzhou had never touched her once. Gu Yunran was so desperate that she knelt on the ground and admitted that she was unable to do it.

But for the sake of his dignity as a man, he asked Gu Yunran to keep it a secret for him.

Gu Yunran loved Lu Qingzhou terribly, it was the kind of love at first sight, without reservation. For the sake of her husband's dignity, she agreed.

I was wronged and had to take the blame for him.

It’s really ridiculous to think about it now. Everyone in her husband’s family knew that Lu Changzhi was Lu Qingzhou’s son, and they used the “fact” that she was infertile to pressure her all day long.

Lu Qingzhou didn't touch her because he had a childhood sweetheart.

"I have no objection." Gu Yunran said calmly.

Lu Changzhi is just one month old and has been infected with smallpox. Old Madam Lu is willing to risk her life to take care of him, and she has no objection. However, this time, she will never ask a doctor for him, nor will she take care of him day and night.

Let life and death be decided by fate.

Madam Lu heaved a long sigh of relief and said to her trusted confidant, Aunt Zhao, "Hurry up and ask someone to bring the child in."

"Okay, I'll go right away."

Nanny Zhao hurried to the west wing and came back in just a quarter of an hour holding a child.

The child was still in the cradle, sobbing and crying as if he was about to die.

Gu Yunran took a glance from a distance and found that the child's face and head were covered with creepy red pimples, which was frightening to look at.

Nanny Zhao put on a mask and stood at the door without going in.

Her face was terribly pale. If she had known the child had smallpox, she would have let someone else take the child.

Madam Lu heard the commotion outside, but she didn't see Aunt Zhao coming in. She was puzzled: "Aunt Zhao, where's the child? Bring him in quickly so I can see him."

"Madam, the child has smallpox."

"What?" Madam Lu was startled. She quickly had the door curtain lowered and warned Madam Zhao, "The child has smallpox, and you still brought him here."

"Don't you know I'm weak and sickly? What if I get infected?"

Madam Zhao said cautiously, "This old servant was wrong."

As she spoke, she looked at Gu Yunran and said, "Madam, the old lady is old and in poor health. She can't feed the child. I'll have to trouble you to take care of this child."
