Princess Pingyang was startled and said, "Go!"
She left in a hurry with her maid Caixuan, but on the way back to the palace, Princess Pingyang's carriage suddenly overturned, and when she woke up, Caixuan was nowhere to be found.
"Caixuan, Caixuan." She called out several times but no one responded. She ordered the guards who were protecting her, "Go find her quickly."
These guards didn't know what happened. They fainted when a gust of wind blew past.
After hearing Princess Pingyang's roar, they covered their still dizzy heads and went to look for Caixuan, but there was no news.
Caixuan was put into a sack by a short, dark, greasy man and carried to Chunmanlou. He threw her to the ground, picked up her yellow teeth with a piece of grass, and said, "Old lady, this girl is pretty. You are lucky."
The old woman untied the sack and saw Caixuan inside. She smiled brightly and asked, "How much silver do you want?"
The man held up five fingers: "Fifty taels."
"Too many." The madam's face darkened. "Although this girl looks good, she's just so-so, not particularly outstanding."
"I'll give you a 50% discount, 25 taels."
"Okay, deal."
The old mother didn't expect the man to be so easy to talk to. She felt that she had suffered a loss, but what was said could not be changed, so she obediently gave the man twenty-five taels of silver.
Holding the banknote, the man left with a smile.
When they reached an alley, he took out his banknotes, picked out the two largest ones and handed them to the man next to him who was wearing a black guard uniform.
"Brother Qian, here are the twenty taels." He took a sip of wine and wiped his mouth. "This is the first time I've done something like this. I don't know who that woman is. How could I have offended you enough to bring her to that place?"
Qianli gave all the banknotes to the man: "Take it."
"Don't ask about things you shouldn't know."
***
When Gu Yunran returned to the Lu Mansion, Nanny Zhao was already waiting for her at the second gate.
"Madam, the old lady wants you to come over."
Gu Yunran nodded. She knew why the old lady wanted to talk to her. Lu Qingzhou had lost face in the shogunate today, and her mother-in-law came to her to question her again.
She said to Yuling, "Go back to Fangxingyuan first and see how Zhuye and Taohua are doing."
"yes."
Yuling turned and went to Fangxingyuan. As soon as she separated from Gu Yunran, she noticed someone waving at her at the corner of the corridor.
"Yuling, how's it going?"
Fan Mei Niang held Yu Ling's hand and asked, "Have you found out who that wild man is?"
Yuling looked around and saw that there was no one around. She said, "I found out that this jade pendant belongs to Qianli, a guard who was close to Master Mu."
"A guard?" Fan Meiniang suddenly laughed. "Gu Yunran is so lowly. The Fourth Master doesn't like her, so she goes to find a guard."
"It's so embarrassing."
She took out some small change from her pocket and stuffed it into Yuling's hand: "Good Yuling, thank you for your hard work."
"Go back first and don't act rashly. Wait for my news."
"good."
Yuling clutched the silver coins in her hand and pretended to be calm as she walked towards Fang Xingyuan.
Nanny Zhao took Gu Yunran to Baomo Hall.
She was grateful for the favor she had received from Gu Yunran. She pursed her lips, but finally couldn't help but remind him, "Madam, the old lady doesn't look well. You have to be careful."
"How about I report back, are you feeling unwell?"
"No need." Gu Yunran gave Madam Zhao a calm smile, "I can handle it."
Baomo Hall.
Lu Qingzhou's face was dark. His arm was broken and bandaged around his neck. His face was swollen like a pig's head.
Bang!
As soon as Gu Yunran walked into the room, Madam Lu slammed the table, scaring the maid in the room so much that her heart jumped.
"Gu Yunran, kneel down!"
Mrs. Lu scolded harshly.
However, Gu Yunran was not afraid at all. She looked at Madam Lu calmly and asked, "What have I done wrong? Why do I have to kneel?"
"Look at what Qingzhou has been beaten into." Old Madam Lu was so angry that her whole body was shaking. She looked at her son with heartache, wishing that it was Gu Yunran who was beaten.
"How can you be a daughter-in-law? You just watch Qing Zhou being beaten and don't protect him?"
Gu Yunran was so angry that she laughed: "It's always men who protect women. This is the first time I've seen a woman protect a man."
She sneered: "Could it be that the men in your Lu Mansion are cowards because they don't have knees and have to hide behind women for protection?"
"Mother-in-law, if you admit it, I will admit my mistake."
"You!" Madam Lu was speechless. She said angrily, "You're so sharp-tongued. I say one thing and you reply ten times. Where's your manners, Gu Yunran?"
"My upbringing is only for people, not dogs!"
Madam Lu almost fainted, "Gu Yunran, how dare you scold me?"
Gu Yunran was bewildered. "Mother-in-law, I'm so wronged. How did your daughter-in-law ever scold you?" Suddenly, she understood and opened her mouth wide in surprise, saying, "Mother-in-law, you actually admit that you're a dog?"
"That's not what I said."
Madam Lu was so angry that she almost fainted. This Gu Yunran was becoming increasingly difficult to discipline and had learned to talk back to her. She looked at Lu Qingzhou and said, "Qingzhou, teach your wife a lesson!"
No respect for elders!
This is outrageous!
"Gu Yunran, apologize to your mother!" Lu Qingzhou clenched his fists and ordered Gu Yunran, "Be nicer, and I will forgive you and not hold it against you."
"I'm not wrong, why should I apologize?"
"Qing Zhou!" Madam Lu felt a sharp pain in her head. She was almost mad at Gu Yunran. "Women deserve a beating! Beat them up!"
