Chapter Fifty-Three: An Uninvited Guest

Lingguang Temple was the royal temple of the Da Yue Kingdom. On ordinary days, there were no royal activities, and it was no different from other temples. People of any status could enter to pay their respects, offer incense, and pray to Buddha.

Today, His Majesty has graced us with his presence, and the Imperial Guards are heavily fortified at the gate. Without an invitation, even the Emperor himself wouldn't be allowed in.

Gu Qianxue was completely unaware of this. Dressed in fine clothes, she attempted to enter Lingguang Temple, but was stopped by two guards at the entrance as soon as she took half a step inside.

"Today the royal family is holding a Buddhist ceremony; entry is not permitted without an invitation!"

Blocked at the door by the guards, Gu Qianxue felt a pang of sullenness. Su Dong glanced at the guards sideways and said arrogantly,

"How dare you! You even stop the Second Prince's concubine?"

Upon hearing this, the guards exchanged a smile, and then respectfully said,

"So you are the Second Prince's concubine. I was just assigned to this post and was blind to your true nature. Please forgive me, Second Prince's concubine! Please rest here, this way."

The guards put down their iron spears and led the second prince toward the side room of the temple.

Upon hearing this, Gu Qianxue frowned, a bad premonition flashing through her mind.

Oh no, it must be because the Second Prince forgot to take his medicine today, and his cold poison has flared up.

While she was worrying, Gu Qianxue was led by the guards to a house built of red bricks.

The door was slowly opened. Feng Ji, his expression tense, suddenly stood up, drew his blade from its sheath, and pointed it directly at the person entering the door.

"Who is it!"

"Guard Feng, Consort Gu has come to visit the Second Prince!"

Feng Ji's brow twitched, and he sheathed his blade, bowing respectfully. "This humble servant greets Consort Gu! I was unaware of Consort Gu's arrival and have failed to greet you properly. Please forgive me!"

Gu Qianxue raised her eyes slightly, stepped forward slowly, and nodded, "Guard Feng, how is the Second Prince? Has the imperial physician been summoned?"

Feng Ji scratched his head, his brows furrowed, and said, "The Emperor and Empress have already sent people to fetch the imperial physician after they found out."

"That's good!"

"Fortunately, the Second Prince was discovered in time after he fainted, and he survived this crisis."

Gu Qianxue's heart sank, and her palms, gripping the hem of her skirt, broke out in a cold sweat.

The Second Prince actually fainted? Was it because of that medicine?

While Gu Qianxue was still in shock, Feng Ji continued,

"It's quite a coincidence that the Second Prince fainted just as Consort Gu's sister, Madam Chen, was passing by; otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable."

"Gu Qianluo was there too?"

"Yes! If it weren't for Madam Chen, His Highness would have been lying on the cold ground for who knows how long."

Why isn't Guard Feng Ji by the Second Prince's side?

"This is all His Highness's order. He said he needed to talk to the old monk about some things, so he told me to wait in front of the palace."

He also ordered that no one was allowed to come over without his permission.

Half an hour later, I saw that the ceremony was about to begin, but the Second Prince still hadn't come out.

I thought I'd go into the hall to find him, but when I went in, I found he was no longer in the same place.

"So, you found him by the lotus pond?"

"Yes! I heard that it was Madam Chen who discovered her first, which helped the Second Prince escape danger."

Gu Qianxue's brow twitched, a few doubts arose in her heart, and memories of her past at the Gu family flashed through her mind.

The second prince is blind. How could he walk to the lotus pond alone?

And Gu Qianluo just happened to appear there. Was it really just a coincidence?

She vividly remembered that a few years ago, after Gu Qianluo's biological mother passed away, her maternal grandmother had stayed at the Gu family home for a period of time.

His maternal grandmother was renowned for her medical skills and was highly praised by the royal family.

When the Empress heard that she could cure the cold poison, she brought the seven-year-old Second Prince to the Gu residence for treatment, and he stayed there after the first treatment.

During this time, Gu Qianluo also learned medicine from her grandmother and helped the Second Prince change his medicine and dispel cold poison.

The second prince was not severely poisoned at the time; he could still see.

Gu Qianxue clearly remembered that on the day the Second Prince left the Gu residence, he spoke righteously and eloquently in front of Gu Cixiu.

"Lord Gu, when I have achieved great success in the future, I will definitely come to marry Gu Qianluo."

At the time, Gu Cixiu took it as a joke, and the Empress, though aware of the matter, also took it as a joke.

As the memories flooded her mind, Gu Qianxue felt heavy-hearted. She couldn't let Gu Qianluo ruin the marriage she had worked so hard to secure.

Gu Qianluo! Since you already have Chen Jinheng, why do you still want to compete with me for the Second Prince!

Hmph! I will never let you succeed!

“Guard Feng, if the Second Prince forgets everything when he wakes up, don’t mention my sister to him.”

As you know, my sister is already married. If people find out she met with the Second Prince alone, they'll definitely gossip!

Feng Ji frowned, seemingly understanding Gu Qianxue's meaning, and quickly responded.

"Yes! Yes! I understand! Consort Gu, rest assured, I will not reveal a single word."

Upon hearing this, Gu Qianxue's brows furrowed with joy, and a satisfied smile appeared on her face.

"Alright, Guard Feng, go and rest. I can take care of things here."

Upon hearing this, Feng Ji's heart sank. He bowed and said goodbye before leaving.

After the onlookers dispersed, Gu Qianxue carefully took out a pill from her sleeve and slowly pushed it into the Second Prince's mouth.

Watching the pill slowly fall into his throat, a huge weight was finally lifted from his heart.

"Great! I finally managed to give him the medicine before sunset. Hopefully, nothing bad will happen now."

"The Empress has arrived!"

Princess Zhiya has arrived!

Gu Qianlu was startled. How come even the Empress has come?

And what's Princess Zhiya, who once made things difficult for her, doing here?

As my thoughts settled, two beautiful figures appeared before me.
