Chapter Twenty-Six: Tenderness Difficult to Continue

Gu Qianluo still remembered that in her previous life, the Second Prince had ruthlessly banished her to the Cold Palace because he listened to the slander of his favorite concubine.

Her husband, who had once shared her hardships, had so cruelly driven her into a desperate situation.

In this life, Gu Qianluo doesn't want to repeat the same mistakes; she needs to have a clear understanding of everything she does.

Upon hearing this, Chen Jinheng's eyes gradually dimmed. After a moment of silence, he coldly spoke.

"Ruoyan is simple-minded; she wouldn't do that."

After a moment of silence, he added, "If that day ever comes, I will help Madam deal with her."

Upon hearing this, Gu Qianluo's eyes crinkled with joy. With Chen Jinheng's assurance, a great weight was lifted from her heart.

She smiled knowingly at him, "Alright! I'll believe you this once."

"Hmm," the man responded softly.

In an instant, the two arrived at their destination, the highest point in the capital—the summit of Jingyou Mountain.

Chen Jinheng suddenly withdrew his power and slowly descended from the air with Gu Qianlu in his arms.

The moment their toes touched the ground, a group of maids dressed as servants filed in, lining both sides to welcome them.

"This servant greets the Second Young Master and Second Madam. Guard Han has already instructed the kitchen that dinner is ready."

Upon hearing this, Chen Jinheng's expression returned to its usual indifference, and he coldly gave the order.

"You may all leave. My wife and I are having a meal and do not wish to be disturbed by others."

The servants obeyed and quietly withdrew.

"Madam, let's go!"

"Okay," Gu Qianluo replied softly, gently placing her jade-like fingers on her hand.

The two of them took only a couple more steps forward, and the scenery around them changed from a dark forest to a brightly lit place.

Beneath the octagonal pavilion, servants had already placed food boxes and wine pots on the stone table.

Red cushions were placed on the stone benches, and even the side rooms not far from the pavilion were decorated with red ribbons, making them as festive and lively as a wedding room.

Jingyou Mountain is the highest mountain in the entire capital city. Standing on the top of the mountain, one can overlook the entire capital city.

"The Lantern Festival is just around the corner, and the lanterns on the streets are so colorful and dazzling!"

“If you like it, Madam, we’ll stay here for a few more days.” With that, the man took her hand and led her to the side room behind him.

She slowly walked into the room and was surprised to find that the decorations were exactly the same as those in the Marquis's mansion.

Even the wedding quilts used at the wedding the day before yesterday seemed to be from the same series.

Gu Qianlu raised an eyebrow, pointed to the furnishings in the room, and asked in surprise,

"Jinheng, what do you mean by this?"

Upon hearing this, Chen Jinheng's eyes softened. He poured a cup of fruit tea from the table, handed it to Gu Qianluo, and said gently,

"On our wedding day, I was delayed by something, but today I'm making up for it."

Upon hearing this, Gu Qianluo's hand trembled slightly, and she exclaimed in surprise, "Ah?"

Seeing this, Chen Jinheng seemed to sense her thoughts, his eyes suddenly darkened, and he asked in a cold voice,

"Madam is unwilling?"

Gu Qianlu's heart began to race. Looking at the delicious food on the stone table, she joked,

"Husband, they say that the world is vast, but eating is the most important thing. Let's have our meal first."

After saying that, she began to busy herself with serving food to Chen Jinheng.

As the saying goes, one should not speak while eating or sleeping.

The two ate in silence, focusing intently on their meal, and the air became quiet.

The silence was so profound that a pleasant feeling welled up in Chen Jinheng's heart.

Suddenly, a dark figure spun and flew down.

Chen Jinheng frowned, turned his gaze, and gave Gu Qianlu a cold look.

It seems that his tender moments with his wife are unlikely to continue today.

Gu Qianlu raised her head slightly and saw a figure that seemed somewhat familiar.

Unlike the other tall bodyguards, the person in front of him was slender with gentle features, resembling a woman's bone structure.

In an instant, a chilling aura accompanied by a flash of cold light appeared as a cold sword pressed against the neck of the dark figure.

"Who goes there? How dare you trespass on this general's private property?"

The guard pulled off his black mask, revealing a strikingly handsome face that appeared even more refined under the moonlight.

"Bamboo Shadow? Do you know that during my time with my wife, I once ordered that no outsiders be seen?"

"Please forgive me, young master! I have important matters to report!..."

Bamboo Shadow? Gu Qianlu raised an eyebrow. This was the handsome bodyguard she had met once before.

His voice sounded more melancholic than that of an average woman, but not as deep and resonant as that of a man.

Just as Zhu Ying was about to speak, her gaze unconsciously fell on Gu Qianluo, and she secretly swallowed her words back.

Seeing his timid and hesitant actions, Chen Jinheng's eyes revealed impatience and anxiety.

"Report if anything happens. Madam isn't an outsider!"

With Chen Jinheng's permission, Zhu Ying's tense brows gradually relaxed, and she said hurriedly,

"Master, Miss Lin fainted on her way to worship Buddha today."

Upon hearing this, Gu Qianluo's eyes showed a puzzled expression, and her gaze fell on the man beside her.

Upon hearing this, a cold glint flashed in Chen Jinheng's eyes, and he angrily rebuked,

"She hasn't recovered yet, how dare she go out to worship Buddha?"

According to Lin's maid Yinshuang, she thought that the marriage of the second young master and the second madam must be a miracle from Buddha.

So, taking advantage of the good weather, I decided to go to Jing'an Temple to fulfill my vow.

Lin Ruoyan is quite cunning; by acting out of a desire to pray for the couple, she has earned a reputation for being kind and gentle.

Upon hearing this, Chen Jinheng's eyes narrowed to slits, his expression darkening, and he said slowly,

"She is thoughtful."

Zhu Ying continued to report, "Yes! Miss Lin has always been very attentive to the Second Young Master."

I am here on the orders of the First Madam to consult the Second Young Master's opinion.
