Chapter 128 Feeling Moved

Gu Qianluo rarely had the chance to freely express her grievances, and the long-suppressed pent-up feelings in her heart finally found some relief.

It wasn't until Gu Qianlu noticed that Zhu Ying's clothes were half-soaked with her tears that she snapped out of her daze and pulled herself back from her grief.

"They died because of me, and I, Gu Qianluo, will definitely take care of their families and ensure that they live a carefree life."

“Miss Gu, if they knew you had this thought, Miss Shuiyao and Miss Cui’er would surely be very gratified in the afterlife.”

Gu Qianlu thought to herself that since she rarely got to see Cui'er and Shui Yao, she wanted to bring them some nice things.

Gu Qianlu bought some of Cui'er's favorite dishes from the town, as well as peach blossom wine that Cui'er especially loved to drink when she was alive.

The place where Cui'er and Shui Yao rest in peace is located on the shore of Fairy Lake, near a small village called Mingxing.

Shui Yao was chased to Fairy Lake and drowned, while Cui'er was buried there intentionally by Gu Qianluo.

Surrounded by mountains and green waters, this place boasts picturesque scenery.

Cui'er and Shui Yao had a good relationship when they were alive. It would be nice if they could keep each other company in the afterlife.

At noon, when the sun was at its strongest, Gu Qianluo and Zhuying were already drenched in sweat as they searched along the country path.

Just as the heat was unbearable, Fairy Lake gradually came into view. At that moment, Gu Qianluo was surprised to find that a new pavilion had been built on the lakeside.

If one could find refuge from the heat in this pavilion, it would be like receiving timely rain after a long drought.

A burst of playful noises came from afar. Looking into the distance, Gu Qianluo saw a group of young girls chasing and playing around outside the pavilion.

"Haha! Come and chase me! If you can catch me, I'll give this hairpin back to you!"

"Give me back my hairpin! Or I'll tell my father!"

Gu Qianluo and Zhu Ying approached the pavilion, filled with curiosity about this pavilion that had appeared at such a convenient time.

The words "Nianqi Pavilion" caught her eye, and Gu Qianluo's heart sank.

I thought to myself, this pavilion must have been built by a devoted husband for his wife.

Thinking of this, Gu Qianlu couldn't help but feel a little envious; she too had once been someone else's wife.

However, her husband and she had a shallow connection and a shallow relationship.

I only caught a glimpse of him a few days ago; I'm afraid I'll never see him again in this lifetime.

"Thinking of my beloved by Fairy Lake, remembering my wife at Mingxing Manor."

Gu Qianlu's gaze swept over the couplets at the pavilion, and she murmured them aloud, feeling a sense of joy in her heart.

"It's been a year since I last came here, and it has changed so much."

Gu Qianlu leaned slightly against the pavilion railing, supporting herself with one arm, and sighed.

"Times have changed, and with frequent business travelers passing through this area, some changes are to be expected."

Bamboo Shadow responded faintly.

The two rested in the pavilion for an hour, and only after the sun had set a little did they get up and head towards the cemetery on the hilltop.

"Miss Gu, the graves of Cui'er and Shuiyao are here, right?"

Bamboo Shadow looked around and saw towering trees reaching into the clouds, which did not seem like a place where a cemetery would be located.

Gu Qianlu remained silent and walked step by step toward the haystack she remembered, but the further she walked, the more she felt something was wrong.

"Why is this place different from what it was a year ago?"

Arriving at the tomb of Shui Yao that I remembered, I was surprised to find that someone had placed two stone lions for her, and there were no weeds next to the haystack, as if someone often came to take care of it.

Another haystack not far from this one was completely different, overgrown with weeds, as if it hadn't been tended to for a long time.

Gu Qianluo narrowed her eyes, picked up a shovel and walked towards the haystack. As she got closer, a marble tombstone gradually came into view.

"Could it be that Shuiyao's relatives erected the tombstone for her?"

Thinking of this, a hint of joy appeared on Gu Qianluo's face.

Looking at Shui Yao's grave, and then at Cui'er's grave not far away, Gu Qianluo frowned and let out a heavy sigh.

"Poor Cui'er!"

"Zhuying, I'll go check on Cui'er first! You go check on Shuiyao for me."

Hearing the sound, Zhu Ying nodded gently to her and slowly walked towards Shui Yao's grave.

"Cui'er, it's been a year. How are you doing over there?"

This is roasted pork and peach blossom wine that I specially bought in town. See how much I love you?

Cui'er, I promise you, I will find the person who secretly harmed you and bring him to justice.

And your family, once I have the ability, I will definitely help them well.

"You and Shuiyao stay here and be well. Once I've avenged you, I'll definitely bring you back to the capital."

Here, Zhu Ying slowly walked into Shui Yao's tomb, about to clear away a few weeds, when eight large characters flashed into her eyes like lightning.

"The tomb of Jinheng's beloved wife, Qianluo. Did Chen Jinheng ever visit this place?"

Seeing this, Zhu Ying's indifferent expression changed slightly. She quickly picked up a shovel and ran towards Gu Qianluo.

"Miss Gu! Miss Gu! General Chen has been here!"

Upon hearing this, Gu Qianluo paused in her shovel swing, a look of disbelief on her face, and asked calmly, "What did you say?"

Zhu Ying was not good with words. Seeing the doubt in her eyes, she took her hand and ran towards Shui Yao's tomb.

“Miss Gu, take a look. This tombstone shows no signs of wear and tear. General Chen must have been here not long ago.”

Gu Qianlu was startled and slowly walked towards the tombstone. She raised her hand slightly and stroked the eight characters "Tomb of Jinheng's Beloved Wife Qianlu". A warm feeling welled up in her heart.

"So he still remembers me."

Recalling Chen Jinheng's gentle eyes, a light appeared in Gu Qianluo's indifferent gaze as Chen Jinheng's promises to her replayed in her mind.

Gu Qianlu felt a surge of heat in her throat, and her eyes burned. She raised her hand to cover her chest, where a sharp pain was surging.
