Chapter Thirty-Six: Slamming the Door and Leaving

Chen Jinheng lowered his eyes, his gaze briefly sweeping over the ink and brush in Gu Qianluo's hand. A cold smile crept across his lips as he spoke.

"Did she write this?"

"Yes, she copied this stroke by stroke from my calligraphy."

"It's really ugly!" Chen Jinheng said with a look of disgust as he took the calligraphy that Ping'er had copied.

"She became like this because of you."

Chen Jinheng carefully unfolded the Xuan paper in his hand, looked up at Gu Qianluo, and explained with a wronged expression,

"Actually, it wasn't entirely because of me, but because of her mother. If it weren't for her mother, I wouldn't have prevented her from going to school."

"Her mother?" Gu Qianluo was even more annoyed. Lin Ruoyan, as a woman, should have thought of other women. Why was she contradicting her?

"Her mother said she has a fiery temper and is afraid that if she learns too much, she will become disobedient and cause big trouble in the future."

Gu Qianlu raised an eyebrow, unable to help but wonder about the parent-child relationship between Lin Ruoyan and Chen Ping'er.

"Parents who love their children will surely plan far ahead for them. You have put a diligent and inquisitive girl in a quagmire. In the future, she will surely be short-sighted and ignorant."

Upon hearing this, Chen Jinheng waved the Xuan paper in his hand in front of Gu Qianluo with a disdainful expression and said angrily,

"She has already missed the early stages of her education, so it's too late for you to say this now."

With a wave of his hand, the man sent Ping'er's brush and ink flying past him.

Gu Qianlu's heart sank as she watched the papers scatter in the wind.

Some drifted out of the door, while others drifted into the candlelight.

Seeing this, Gu Qianluo quickly stepped forward and snatched back several pieces of ink and brush that had fallen to the ground.

Her eyes blazed with fury as she yelled at the retreating figure.

"Chen Jinheng, you are utterly foolish! Stubborn and incorrigible! One day, I will make Ping'er sit in the schoolroom and study with dignity, just like any other boy!"

As Gu Qianluo finished speaking indignantly, Chen Jinheng twitched the corner of his mouth, stopped in his tracks, and suddenly turned around to walk towards her.

The man's eyes were icy cold, his expression somber, as he sternly warned her.

"Gu Qianluo, you listen to me! As long as I'm alive, you're not allowed to teach her to write again!"

After issuing the warning, the man turned and left Luoying Palace. The door slammed shut with a loud bang, so powerful that the floor shook.

Gu Qianlu was startled; it seemed she had crossed the man's line.

Hearing the commotion, Cui'er rushed over from the next room.

"Miss, what's wrong? Why is the young master so angry?"

"I had a disagreement with the second young master, so he probably won't be coming to Luoying Palace for the next few days."

"Dispute? Miss, you are always friendly to others, how could you have a dispute with the young master?"

Xiao Cui pouted and angrily cursed.

"I suspect it must be the young master's fault. Don't be sad, young lady. Once he realizes his mistake, he'll come running back to apologize to you."

Upon hearing this, Gu Qianluo burst out laughing, "Haha, Cui'er, you're such a joy to be around."

Seeing Gu Qianluo smiling so brightly, he frowned and asked suspiciously,

"Miss, how can you still be in the mood to laugh? Miss, you should learn to be more gentle, like that Miss Lin..."

As Xiao Cui spoke, her hands continued moving, mimicking Lin Ruoyan's past words and actions, which made Gu Qianlu burst into laughter.

On the roof of Luoying Hall, Chen Jinheng lay flat on the eaves, pondering where to go tonight.

Hearing the cheerful laughter coming from inside, his eyes darkened, his expression turned even colder, and he let out a cold snort.

"Gu Qianluo, do you really not care about your husband at all?"

After a moment of self-deprecating disappointment, the man's figure disappeared into the night.

Ever since that day when he greeted Gu Qianluo, Chen Jinheng's two aunts have come to pay their respects every morning.

Gu Qianlu had developed the habit of waking up early since childhood. Early in the morning, she would send some desserts from the kitchen for the concubines to enjoy together.

According to the information Xiao Cui gathered, the entire Marquis's mansion now knows about her falling out with Chen Jinheng.

As I was thinking this, two sweet, charming voices gradually drifted in.

“Manlian greets the mistress.”

"Lingxiang greets the mistress."

Upon hearing this, Gu Qianluo's lips curled into a smile, and she slowly stepped forward to help the two of them up herself.

"My two elder sisters are here! Come on, try some osmanthus cake. I ordered the kitchen to cook it fresh."

Seeing this, Aunt Xu and Aunt Lin exchanged a smile, took the porcelain plate from Gu Qianluo's hands, and said with joy in their eyes, "Thank you, Mistress."

"How is it? Do you like it?"

"Mistress, this osmanthus cake is sweet and delicious, and melts in your mouth. It is the best Manlian has ever eaten."

"Really? Then take some back with you later." Gu Qianlu took out a box of packaged osmanthus cakes from beside her and placed it in front of Xu Manlian.

"What does Aunt Zhu think?" Gu Qianluo glanced at Zhu Lingxiang and saw that she was stunned, holding the osmanthus cake in her hand with tears in her eyes.

"Thank you, Madam, for letting Lingxiang taste osmanthus cake, which she hasn't had in a long time."

"You're welcome. If you like, I have some more here. Take them home and enjoy them slowly."

At this moment, Chen Jinheng had just returned from training outside the military camp, a hint of anticipation appearing in his eyes.

"Han Ying, do you think Madam will like the gift I gave her?"

Han Ying's eyes gleamed. "General, you are wise. I have already inquired. This is the Madam's favorite osmanthus cake. She will definitely like it."

Upon hearing this, Chen Jinheng smiled with satisfaction and strode towards Luoying Palace.

As soon as he stepped into the gate of Luoying Palace, he saw a harmonious scene of wives and concubines, and his eyes suddenly darkened.
