The servants sensed his dangerous aura and were so frightened that they all lay on the ground, too afraid to move.
"explain!"
Chen Jinheng lost all patience, his gaze sweeping over the group of people kneeling on the ground, and roared angrily once again.
"My...my wife, she..."
A young-looking maid was about to speak when the old woman beside her clapped her hands.
"You won't talk, huh? Fine! Men! Sell everyone in this house to a manor on the outskirts of the city!"
Upon receiving Chen Jinheng's order, Han Ying's eyes darkened, and he waved to his subordinates behind him.
In the blink of an eye, all the irrelevant people in Luoying Hall were dismissed.
The huge courtyard was as silent as an empty space.
Chen Jinheng was there, and it was as if he could hear his own frantic heartbeat.
His eyes were cold as he closed them and took a deep breath.
He told himself that what those people were saying was all a lie!
Gu Qianluo will not die; she will wait for him to return to the Marquis's residence.
He clenched his fists, lifted his foot, and slowly walked into the house.
The moment he stepped inside, his frantic heart seemed to lose its rhythm.
"Why does the interior decoration of this house look different now?"
And this sandalwood, they've actually replaced it with the kind I hate the most?
He hurried toward the wardrobe, lifting one garment after another with his large hands; each one was unfamiliar to him.
"Impossible! This is impossible!"
His heart ached as if being torn apart by a demon, and his breathing became increasingly heavy.
His mind went blank for a moment, and even his legs felt weak.
His body suddenly became unsteady, and he could only lean against the bedpost to catch his breath.
Lin Ruoyan jogged over here, and when she saw Chen Jinheng looking distraught, her heart suddenly ached.
"Jinheng, what's wrong?"
Lin Ruoyan helped Chen Jinheng, whose eyes were lifeless, up from the bedside and spoke to him with gentle concern.
"Han Ying, summon Uncle Yin to the study. I have some questions for him."
"Yes, sir!"
Han Ying had never seen Chen Jinheng so enraged. Upon receiving the order, she immediately flew to the main courtyard.
Seeing that Chen Jinheng was about to leave, Lin Ruoyan jogged up and followed him.
Lin Ruoyan picked up a handkerchief and reached out to wipe Chen Jinheng's sweat. Just before her fingertips touched his cheek, he slapped her hand away, coldly saying...
"Miss Lin, please have some self-respect!"
Lin Ruoyan's brow furrowed. She put away the handkerchief in her hand, quickly ran in front of him, spread her arms to block his way, and screamed hysterically.
"Jinheng, you just got back. Don't worry about anything else. Get some rest first, okay?"
I beg you! Jinheng, don't you ever think about the Marquis and his wife?
Is it really worth getting angry over someone who is already dead?
The harsh words reached his ears, and Chen Jinheng's eyes darkened. He grabbed Lin Ruoyan's slender hand and warned her sharply.
"Lin Ruoyan, I advise you not to cause any trouble!"
After uttering a cold remark, Chen Jinheng spun around and flew towards Chengheng Courtyard.
After receiving Han Ying's order, Yin Bo did not dare to delay. He handed over his work and quickly went to Chengheng Courtyard.
Unexpectedly, they still lagged behind. "Greetings, General Chen!"
"Uncle Yin, come in!"
"Han Ying! Guard the position! No one is allowed to enter without my permission!"
Following Chen Jinheng's order, Uncle Yin slowly walked in.
When he met his icy expression, Uncle Yin couldn't help but shudder.
"Uncle Yin, you know my temper. Tell me everything you know."
If I discover any omission or deliberate concealment in the future, you know the consequences.
Uncle Yin's eyes narrowed slightly, his heart sank, and after sorting through his chaotic thoughts, he slowly spoke.
"General Chen, this matter is rather strange..."
Uncle Yin was an honest man, although he vaguely felt that Lin Ruoyan had connections with people from the martial arts world.
But now that Chen Jinheng is back, he no longer needs to worry about Lin Ruoyan's influence.
Yin Bo dared not conceal anything, from the rumors of Gu Qianluo and Zhu Ying's "illicit affair" to Gu Qianluo's death by falling into the lake out of shame, and then to Lin Ruoyan's renovation of Luoying Palace.
He explained everything to Chen Jinheng, one by one, in great detail and with perfect clarity.
Upon hearing this, Chen Jinheng's eyes suddenly turned from dark to red, and his anger burned fiercely within him.
"I already know the general outline of the matter. The reason I'm summoning you for questioning today is for the two of us to know only. Do you understand?"
Yin Bo's brows twitched slightly, his heart tightened, and he bowed respectfully, saying, "I understand!"
"Go down!"
Han Ying saw Yin Bo leave, her eyes flashed, and she slowly walked into the house. Looking at Chen Jinheng, who was sitting in the main seat in a daze, she made a suggestion.
"Master, shall I go down and search?"
"Grab the shovel and come with me."
"Shovel...shovel?" A hint of doubt flashed in Han Ying's eyes, then she suddenly understood.
Seeing the sky pressed down by dark clouds, Han Ying quickly ran to the training ground, found two decent shovels, and spurred his horse to catch up with Chen Jinheng's galloping figure.
"Whoa!" Chen Jinheng tightened the reins, and the horse neighed before stopping beside a lake whose water was as green as an emerald.
Chen Jinheng easily dismounted and slowly walked from a desolate area beside Fairy Lake into the jungle.
The lake was shrouded in mist, but the forest was barren, creating a desolate and lonely atmosphere.
Following the map given to him by Uncle Yin, Chen Jinheng slowly walked toward a slightly higher haystack.
"Is this the place?"
His eyes were glazed over as he stared at a pile of hay in front of him, muttering to himself.
