Jiang Wenyuan looked at Gu Qinlan and said gently, "Qinlan, today is your big day, don't cry. Remember, no matter when or where, your uncle will always support you."
Gu Qinlan nodded, tears streaming down her face, and hugged her uncle tightly, unwilling to let go.
"Alright, Qinlan, it's getting late, you should get going," Jiang Wenyuan reminded her softly.
Gu Qinlan reluctantly bid farewell to Jiang Wenyuan and turned to walk outside.
This departure will mean that she will no longer be the eldest daughter of the Gu family, but the heir apparent of the Duan Prince's mansion.
Upon arriving at the front yard, Gu Qinlan saw the back of Zheng Dinglian, the heir apparent of Prince Duan.
He stood tall and had an extraordinary air about him. She gently curled the corners of her mouth, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.
The bridal sedan chair was carried steadily to the Prince Duan's residence, and the wedding ceremony officially began. Gu Qinlan and Zheng Dinglian completed all the formalities.
As the music faded into the distance, she was led to her new home.
Inside the new house, red candles burned brightly, creating a warm and cozy atmosphere.
Gu Qinlan sat on the mahogany canopy bed, gently stroking her brightly colored wedding dress, feeling both excited and nervous. Zheng Dinglian stood beside her, gazing at her intently, his eyes filled with expectation and love.
After the matchmakers left the bridal chamber, the two remained silent. Zheng Dinglian smiled slightly and broke the silence: "Qinlan, you should rest first. I'll go out and have a few drinks with the guests, and I'll be back in a bit."
Gu Qinlan nodded gently, a hint of shyness on her lips: "You should also take care of yourself and not drink too much."
Zheng Dinglian smiled and replied, "Don't worry, I will."
After Zheng Dinglian left, Gu Qinlan looked at the decorations in the new house, her heart filled with mixed emotions.
The bridal chamber in Prince Duan's mansion was decorated with exceptional festive cheer, with bright red "double happiness" characters covering the walls, and the curtains, bedding, and pillows were all brand new. In addition to red candles, there were several potted plants in the room, emitting a faint fragrance.
Before long, footsteps were heard outside the door, and Princess Duan walked in with a group of old women.
She wore a gorgeous gown, a phoenix crown, and a light layer of makeup, making her even more beautiful.
Princess Duan looked at Gu Qinlan and smiled, "Qinlan, congratulations on marrying Dinglian and becoming the heir apparent of our Duan Prince's Mansion. Today is your joyous day, so be happy."
Gu Qinlan stood up and bowed slightly: "Thank you for your concern, Your Highness. I will."
Princess Duan walked to the bedside, sat down, and looked at Gu Qinlan with loving eyes: "Qinlan, you are a good child. Since you entered the Duan Prince's Mansion, the atmosphere in the mansion has become much more cheerful. You and Dinglian should support each other and spend the days to come together."
Gu Qinlan smiled slightly: "Your Highness, rest assured, I will do my best to ensure that the Prince lives a happy life."
At this moment, a matchmaker walked in, carrying a plate of red dates, peanuts, longans, and lotus seeds, and said, "Princess Consort, this symbolizes the wish for an early birth of a son. I wish you and your husband a happy and fulfilling marriage."
Princess Duan took the fruit plate and handed it to Gu Qinlan: "Princess Consort, please eat some of these fruits, and let the servants distribute the rest."
Gu Qinlan nodded gently, picked up a red date and put it in her mouth. The sweet taste warmed her heart.
After seeing off Princess Duan, Gu Qinlan impatiently summoned Hongye and Fuyu. Hongye and Fuyu entered upon hearing the call, and seeing Gu Qinlan's expectant expression, they immediately understood their mistress's thoughts.
Gu Qinlan sighed softly and said, "Help me remove these decorations. I'm really tired."
Hongye and Fuyu nodded, carefully removing the jewels from her hair and taking off her wedding dress and ornaments. Once everything was ready, Gu Qinlan finally showed a relieved expression.
"Alright, we can eat now." Gu Qinlan said, then sat down at the table.
Hongye brought out the food from the kitchen, its aroma filling the air. Gu Qinlan was indeed hungry, and picked up her chopsticks to eat. As Hongye served her food, she said, "Miss, do you still remember the rumors about the Duan Prince's mansion?"
Gu Qinlan smiled slightly: "Of course I remember, but everything went smoothly at the wedding, so those rumors shouldn't be taken entirely at face value."
Hongye nodded and said with emotion, "Yes, on the wedding day, all the civil and military officials came to offer their congratulations. The majesty of the Prince Duan's mansion was indeed awe-inspiring. However, I still have some concerns."
Gu Qinlan put down her chopsticks, looked at Hongye, and said calmly, "Hongye, don't worry. Now that I've married into the Duan Prince's mansion, I will do my best to maintain the peace of this family. As for those rumors, they are just gossip and don't need to take them too seriously."
Hongye and Fuyu exchanged a glance, both seeing the worry in each other's eyes.
Hongye said cautiously, "Miss, we understand what you just said. But, are you really capable of handling the internal strife within the Prince Duan's residence?"
Gu Qinlan smiled gently, a hint of determination flashing in her eyes: "Hongye, have you forgotten? I am a daughter of the Gu family. What kind of difficulties haven't I experienced since I was a child? I naturally have ways to deal with the infighting within the Duan Prince's Mansion."
Upon hearing this, Hongye and Fuyu felt somewhat comforted.
Gu Qinlan gazed at the candlelight flickering in the wind, her heart churning with a thousand thoughts swirling within her.
She recalled Gu Qinlian's wedding in her previous life when she first married into the Duan Prince's mansion. It was a farce. The three children of the Duan Prince's heir, Zheng Dinglian, acted like unruly monkeys, causing trouble at the wedding and making Gu Qinlian look foolish in front of everyone.
Gu Qinlian's aggrieved eyes and panicked expression were like a knife etched into her heart, something she could never forget.
How could things be so smooth in this life?
Gu Qinlan was filled with doubts.
Beneath this calm surface, perhaps lies Zheng Dinglian's prior arrangement.
Why did he do that?
