Chapter 17 A Doctor Doesn't Knock on the Door

Tong Miao remained calm throughout. He understood his junior uncle's personality; if Dr. Hu could save him, his junior uncle might not take the initiative to help.

All the doctors turned their attention to Huang Jiayao and Huang Deshun.

Awaiting their decision, reality was staring them in the face: with no other better antidote, amputation became the only option.

Huang Deshun glanced at his daughter, then turned to Expert Hu and Director Han. Seeing their shaking heads and bitter smiles, his last glimmer of hope vanished.

At this moment, his gaze fell on Liu Feng, and he realized that he had overlooked this guest.

Although he was somewhat dissatisfied with the young junior brother recommended by Shi Hong, he still asked out of politeness:

"Young friend Liu, Master Shi Hong praised your superb medical skills. Perhaps you can figure out the antidote for this snake venom? Do you have any thoughts or suggestions?"

Before Liu Feng could answer, the group of doctors around him started making a commotion and all turned their attention to him.

"What? This little kid can treat illnesses? That's a joke!" A doctor's eyes widened, his face full of doubt and disbelief.

He looked around, seemingly looking for someone to laugh with, and then turned his gaze to Huang Deshun.

"Mr. Huang, are you sure you're not mistaken? You really invited this little brat to see a doctor?"

The attending physician curled his lips into a mocking smile, clearly also angry, as if he were mocking Huang Deshun's intelligence and judgment.

Huang Deshun was a little embarrassed by the question, and he nodded with a forced smile, "Yes, him..."

"Mr. Huang, I understand how you feel, but you can't just rush into anything!"

Expert Hu interrupted Huang Deshun.

His tone was clearly disdainful: "Are all the doctors here experienced professionals? Are we not as good as a child?"

A group of doctors nodded in agreement upon hearing this, their eyes filled with obvious suspicion and disdain as they looked at Liu Feng.

"Little friend, how old are you this year?"

A middle-aged doctor asked gently, seemingly trying to ease the tense atmosphere.

"Eleven years old."

Liu Feng answered calmly, unaffected by the doubts and ridicule around him.

Upon hearing this, Director Han frowned and couldn't help but tease him angrily, "Eleven years old, and you dare to come out and treat people? Do your parents know? Isn't this ridiculous? If something goes wrong, can you take responsibility?"

They all thought Liu Feng was incredibly brave for his age, like a newborn calf unafraid of a tiger! What made him even more speechless was that someone actually dared to ask such a young kid to treat their illness. Weren't they afraid of causing a medical accident?

Huang Deshun stood aside, his face showing embarrassment and helplessness. He hadn't expected that the junior uncle Shi Hong had recommended to him was actually an eleven-year-old child. Wasn't this just a joke?

However, Liu Feng was not angered by being slighted.

Whoever gets angry will hurt themselves!

He calmly said, "When treating patients, one should not be concerned about status or age. Although I am young, I have been learning traditional Chinese medicine from my master since childhood. I dare not say that I am an expert, but I know a little about it."

I glanced at Director Han and Expert Hu.

Liu Feng continued, "Although my family is unaware of this, even if they were, they would certainly support us. Doctors should prioritize their patients; when patients call for help, doctors must respond. This is medical ethics."

Liu Feng's answer was neither humble nor arrogant.

He was neither ashamed of his youth nor discouraged by the doubts of others.

Although his voice was still somewhat immature, it exuded a confidence that made people look at him with new respect.

After listening, Expert Hu re-examined Liu Feng and nodded slightly.

He said slowly, "The saying 'When the patient calls, the doctor will surely come' is indeed true. It seems your master is a highly skilled person. However, the art of medicine is vast and profound, and cannot be mastered in a day. You are still young and need more practice. Do not be arrogant or complacent. You must have real skills! How many medical books have you read? How many medicinal herbs do you know? Can you diagnose and treat patients?"

Liu Feng smiled slightly and said confidently, "Seniors, the way of medicine is not about age, but about the level of medical skills. Although I am young, I have read no less medical books and know no fewer characters than any of you here. As for medicinal herbs and diagnosis and treatment, these are all things I have learned in my daily life. I believe I have the ability to treat patients."

Tong Miao, who was standing to the side, wanted to step forward to explain, but seeing his junior uncle's calm response, he remained silent and secretly cheered him on.

He knew that Liu Feng's words were not boasting, but simply the truth.

Inside Qingfeng Temple and Wudang Taoist Temple, Liu Feng, with his ability to read ten lines at a glance and memorize what he read, has already finished reading all the medical books he has collected, which is truly unmatched by others!

But to everyone else, it sounded like a thunderclap.

An elderly traditional Chinese medicine doctor with gray hair in the hospital couldn't bear to listen anymore.

He pointed at Liu Feng and roared angrily, "Whose brat is this? How arrogant! Look at his age, he probably hasn't even finished elementary school. How many characters can he recognize? How many medical books has he read? He's barely weaned, yet he dares to come and treat people. It's outrageous!"

As soon as the old Chinese medicine doctor finished speaking, the surrounding doctors began to discuss it amongst themselves.

Their doubts and dissatisfaction with Liu Feng grew stronger, as if this child was a ridiculous joke in their eyes.

Despite the accusations and ridicule from the crowd, Liu Feng remained calm and composed.

"Mr. Huang, you see, since there are so many renowned doctors here, we don't need this young man. So we won't disturb him any longer."

"Master Liu, I apologize for my poor hospitality today. Once this matter is settled, I will definitely come to your door to make amends!" Huang Deshun said apologetically.

Liu Feng remained silent.

He strode straight out, and Dao Miao turned and followed.

"Doctors don't knock on doors, and teachers don't just happen to be passing by!" A connection between doctors and patients also requires a certain fate.

Liu Feng knew that he was still young and did not have a medical license, so it was understandable that people would question him.

Since everyone had no trust in his medical skills, Liu Feng felt that there was no point in staying any longer, lest people misunderstand him as having ulterior motives or being greedy for fame and profit, which would only cause trouble.

He wasn't angry; on the contrary, Tong Miao was furious. It was obvious that everyone disregarded Wudang Mountain and his master and junior uncle.

Tong Miao followed Liu Feng out of the emergency room and glanced at his junior uncle's calm and collected demeanor. He opened his mouth as if to say something, but ultimately kept it closed.

"You lot, hurry up and see Master Liu off!" Huang Deshun ordered, his mood unusually agitated.

Then, he looked at his daughter Huang Jiayao and said helplessly, "Expert Hu and the others are all here, and there's no better way. Should we make the decision to amputate her leg as soon as possible?"

Huang Jiayao nodded silently.

Her hands were clenched tightly together, veins bulging, as she silently endured the pain and struggle within her.

Director Han immediately began arranging the surgery and wheeled Liang Ziyang, who had already fallen into a coma, into the operating room.

A group of relatives and friends were kept outside the operating room, waiting anxiously.
