Chapter 18 Master's Instructions to Jiu'er

A few days later, a warm spring breeze swept through the courtyard of Baiyun Temple, and the old Taoist priest Qingfeng, along with Liu Feng, prepared to leave.

As they parted, Master Lingsu, along with Jiu'er, saw Master Qingfeng and his disciple out of the Taoist temple. A hint of sadness flickered in her eyes: "Brother, this parting may be the last time we meet. I have something to say, but I don't know if I should."

Looking at Ling Su Zhenren, Qingfeng Laodao understood her unspoken meaning.

He sighed softly and said, "The path of cultivation is long, and I know all too well that my days are numbered. This parting may truly be our last. Please speak freely, Master."

Ling Su Zhenren's gaze swept back and forth between Qingfeng Laodao and Liu Feng, and then he said solemnly, "Brother Dao, don't you want your disciple to one day cultivate the Golden Core Dao?"

The old Taoist priest Qingfeng was silent for a moment, then smiled bitterly and said, "Yes, how could I not want to? But now the spiritual energy of heaven and earth is extremely thin, how easy is it to cultivate the Golden Core? Although Feng'er is exceptionally talented, I dare not have such a wish."

Master Lingsu nodded slightly and continued, "I have a method that might give them a chance to break through to the Qi Refining stage. If you agree to let your disciple and Jiu'er become Daoist partners after they grow up, it's much better than us wasting a hundred years like this, unable to break through!"

The old Taoist priest frowned and asked in confusion, "What kind of magic?"

Master Lingsu solemnly said, "The Dragon and Phoenix Harmony Dual Cultivation Method."

The old Taoist priest Qingfeng fell into deep thought, and after a moment said, "It is said that this dual cultivation method is quite extraordinary, and there is indeed a glimmer of hope. However, although my disciple is still young, he is quite opinionated, and we need his own consent."

Upon hearing her master's blunt words, Jiu'er's pretty face instantly turned bright red, as beautiful as the sunset. Her heart was pounding like a deer's, filled with both shyness and nervousness.

She glanced at Liu Feng secretly, only to find that he looked perfectly normal, and she couldn't help but feel a little disappointed.

Ling Su Zhenren and Qingfeng Laodao both looked at Liu Feng.

Liu Feng, however, had his own considerations. He had been reborn and already had a girl he admired in his heart; how could he be fickle?

So he replied, "Master, Aunt, I have already made some progress in cultivating the Innate Skill. I am confident that I can cultivate it to the Qi Refining stage. Thank you for your kindness, Aunt."

Upon hearing this, the old Taoist priest Qingfeng felt a sense of relief.

He knew his days were numbered. After he left, if Liu Feng and Jiu'er could become cultivation partners, and with the protection of True Person Ling Su, there was indeed a great chance that they could steadily enter the Qi Refining stage.

Seeing his disciple's high spirits and independent attitude, he felt relieved.

However, Ling Su Zhenren felt rather disappointed. Through their interactions over the past few days, she had a very high opinion of Liu Feng. If the two of them were to unite, a breakthrough would be just around the corner.

Furthermore, she privately consulted the divination for both Liu Feng and Jiu'er. Liu Feng's divination result was completely vague, suggesting that his future achievements were unpredictable, which greatly shocked her.

However, Jiu'er's breakthrough opportunity was indicated by the divination in the northeast direction, pointing towards Qingfeng Temple.

But Liu Feng's rejection just now was like a thunderclap in Jiu'er's heart.

She hadn't expected her master to bring up such a shameful matter, and she certainly hadn't expected Liu Feng to refuse to become her Daoist partner without hesitation. Did he not like me at all?

During this time, Jiu'er spent every day with Liu Feng, and her lively personality gradually turned cold again, as if she had turned back into the taciturn little Taoist nun she once was.

The butterflies that were fluttering merrily seemed to sense her emotions, and quietly landed on the flowers, ceasing their dance.

Old Taoist Qingfeng seemed to notice Jiu'er's change and knew that this place was not safe to stay for long. He quickly grabbed his disciple Liu Feng's hand and hurriedly went down the mountain.

He worried that his beloved disciple would become entangled in romantic feelings, and that if handled improperly, it would ruin his cultivation. He couldn't help but curse inwardly: "That old Taoist Ling Su can't stand that I've taken on a good disciple. She's really up to no good."

Master Lingsu turned to look at Jiu'er and said earnestly, "Don't blame your master for not considering your feelings. I have calculated that your opportunity to attain enlightenment lies with that boy. The opportunity is right in front of you, and your master is doing this for your own good."

The young Taoist nun remained silent, gazing in the direction the young Taoist had gone, without moving for a long time.

That wretched Liu Feng, you brat Taoist priest, do you even know what liking someone means?

Time turns, and many years pass.

Before her death, Master Lingsu gave Jiu'er a token, instructing her to go to Qingfeng Temple to cultivate in seclusion and seek the opportunity for a breakthrough. She also told Jiu'er the result of a divination: Liu Feng had already entered the Qi Refining stage.

After saying this, Master Lingsu followed in the footsteps of Old Daoist Qingfeng and departed westward with a smile.
