Chapter 26 Wishing my grandson all the best

The next day, the weather changed from overcast to sunny. The morning light pierced through the thin mist and gently caressed the earth, bathing everything in a bright glow.

Early in the morning, after having breakfast at Yu Jingya's house, Liu Feng prepared to leave.

Although Yu Jingya was reluctant to part with him, she knew that Liu Feng had his own things to do and she couldn't stop him.

As they parted, Liu Feng held Yu Jingya's hand and said gently, "Jingya, I'll come pick you up in a few days to take our wedding photos. Wait for me, okay?"

Yu Jingya nodded slightly, her eyes sparkling with anticipation: "I'll wait for you, Liu Feng."

Deep down, she longed for time to pass quickly so that they could soon walk down the aisle and stay together day and night.

After leaving Yu Jingya's home, Liu Feng drove straight to Liu Village to visit his grandparents whom he hadn't seen in a long time.

Along the way, the road twists and turns, withered vines entwine old trees, and outside the car window are vast fields, the scenery like a traditional Chinese ink painting.

Finally, he returned to Liucun, which he had left five years ago. The village had quietly transformed, with most of the former mud-brick and thatched houses replaced by red brick and tile houses.

Liu Feng stepped into the house where his grandparents lived.

In the courtyard, Old Man Liu sat leisurely on an old wooden chair, squinting in the sun. The sunlight gently shone on his silvery-white hair, shimmering with a warm glow.

Hearing footsteps, Old Man Liu slowly opened his eyes. The moment he saw Liu Feng, the wrinkles on his face smoothed out like blooming chrysanthemums.

He stretched out his calloused hands and excitedly called out, "Ah, Xiao Si, you're finally back!"

Liu Feng quickly squatted down, grasped his grandfather's hands tightly, and asked with concern, "Grandpa, I'm back. How are you feeling?"

Old Man Liu nodded with a smile, full of satisfaction: "Good, very good. Thanks to your precious pills, I am still in good health."

At this moment, Grandma Fang Shuxiang was busy in the vegetable garden. Hearing the noise, she hurriedly put down her farm tools and walked over quickly, calling Liu Feng's name repeatedly: "My dear grandson, you've been gone for five years. Grandma was so worried about you."

Liu Feng stood up and gently hugged his grandmother: "Grandma, I'm fine."

Then, he took out the gifts he had chosen for his grandparents from his bag, including soft and sweet pastries and medicinal wine specially prepared for his grandfather.

Looking at the gifts, Old Man Liu felt a surge of warmth in his heart: "Little Si, you are all so filial, Grandpa is so happy. The day before yesterday, your Sister Xiaoling also came back and brought a lot of food, the house is almost overflowing."

Fang Shuxiang carefully examined Liu Feng and asked with a smile, "How have you been on the mountain these past five years? Was it tough?"

Liu Feng patiently answered his grandparents' questions, sharing interesting stories with them while carefully observing their physical condition. Only after confirming that everything was alright did he feel at ease.

My eldest and second uncles both live in town, but Old Man Liu dislikes the crowds and noise, so he often goes back to his old house to chat with his neighbors and live a carefree and leisurely life.

Soon, news of Liu Feng's return spread throughout the village.

Villagers flocked to the Liu family home to see Liu Feng, whom they hadn't seen for many years, and greeted him warmly. Liu Feng smiled and greeted everyone in turn, and told the villagers some good news: "I'll be treating everyone to a celebratory feast on the 28th of the first lunar month."

The villagers are all familiar with the bride, Yu Jingya. She has long been well-known in Liu Village, and everyone knows that she has feelings for Liu Feng.

Therefore, when they heard the news that Liu Feng was about to get married, the villagers praised Yu Jingya for being beautiful and kind, and offered their sincere blessings.

Liu Feng left around lunchtime. He had just finished his seclusion and still had many things to take care of.

Old Man Liu and Fang Shuxiang stood at the door, watching him drive away.

They still feel guilty about their prejudice against Liu Feng back then, and silently pray that Liu Feng will be happy and fulfilled. They also pray for their grandson who is about to get married, wishing him a better and better life.
