Zhu Shuang drove the motorcycle slowly and steadily.
Liu Feng sat on the back of the motorcycle, holding the mischievous little girl, Tian Tian, in his arms. Her chubby little body would wriggle in his arms from time to time, and unintentionally, Liu Feng's arm would gently touch Zhu Shuang's waist.
The two were so close that they could almost hear each other's heartbeats, which made Liu Feng's thoughts drift back to that rainy night.
That night, I had just finished evening self-study.
The light rain fell like silver threads, veiling the campus in a hazy mist.
Liu Feng braved the rain and slowly walked into the rain curtain.
He walked alone on the wide avenue of the campus, wearing a dark coat, his hair slightly blown by the cool breeze.
Under the night sky, fine raindrops gently pattered on the ground like a beaded curtain, sliding down his shoulders and splashing up tiny water droplets.
He looked down at the rain-soaked road, listening to the sound of raindrops as he walked.
Just then, a clear voice broke the silence: "Liu Feng, wait!"
He looked back and saw a girl, quite unexpectedly, hurrying after him from between the teaching buildings in the hazy night.
Her hair was wet from the rain, with a few strands clinging to her cheeks, which only added to her youthful charm. Her eyes were gentle and bright, like a spark of fire in the night sky.
"Why didn't you bring an umbrella? You didn't even say anything. Here, take this old umbrella to keep you dry." The girl said, handing the umbrella to Liu Feng.
"No need, Zhu Shuang, I like walking in the rain. It's fine, you should go back to your dorm." Liu Feng quickly waved his hand in refusal.
"Don't push yourself, you'll catch a cold. You take it!" However, Zhu Shuang insisted on giving him the umbrella, her tone carrying a hint of reproach and concern.
After saying that, she shoved the umbrella into Liu Feng's hand, turned around and rushed into the rain, running towards the dormitory building, as if afraid that Liu Feng would change his mind.
The light rain turned into a downpour, soaking her figure as she ran faster and faster.
Liu Feng paused for a moment, looking at the umbrella in his hand, a warm feeling welling up inside him. He quickly caught up with her, holding the umbrella high and calling out, "Zhu Shuang, wait for me! I'll take you back to your dorm first!"
As evening self-study ended, the lights from the teaching building shone through the windows into the rain, creating halos of light. Students emerged one after another, some with umbrellas, others running in the rain, their laughter and shouts echoing in the night air.
Soon, Liu Feng caught up with Zhu Shuang, and the two walked side by side under the umbrella. Rainwater slid down the edge of the umbrella, forming a curtain of water that isolated them from the outside world.
They walked in silence, and the occasional physical contact filled the air with a subtle awkwardness and shyness.
At this moment, Zhu Shuang appeared gentle and quiet, completely different from her usual lively self.
Before long, they arrived at the girls' dormitory building.
Zhu Shuang stopped, looked up at Liu Feng, and whispered, "I've arrived. You can go back now."
Liu Feng remained silent, smiled slightly, turned around, and walked into the rain with his umbrella.
The umbrella in her hand, though somewhat worn and with one of its ribs damaged, was still clean, clearly one that Zhu Shuang frequently used.
But it blocked the rain that was pouring down all night.
He sighed softly and walked away into the distance.
On the other end.
Zhu Shuang stood downstairs in the dormitory building, watching Liu Feng's disappearing figure. Liu Feng's last smile still echoed in her mind, and the faint fragrance emanating from him still lingered in her heart.
The rain on campus was light and gentle, and the streetlights flickered softly in the rain, their light both gentle and lonely...
"We've arrived." A few minutes later, Zhu Shuang's clear voice rang in Liu Feng's ears.
They stopped their motorcycles in front of a small supermarket.
Liu Feng then snapped out of his reverie and looked at Zhu Shuang and Xiao Tiantian in front of him, a feeling he couldn't quite describe welling up inside him.
