Chapter 3 The Magic Gourd

Upon hearing this, Liu Changqing felt a chill run down his spine.

He looked at Fang Shuxiang in astonishment: "Mom, how could you say that? This is my and Qunfang's child, he just came into this world. How could you ask me to do that?"

Fang Shuxiang was very dissatisfied and still insisted on her own opinion: "This kind of freak will be a cripple when he grows up and will be a burden to our whole family. Can you support him for the rest of your life? If this child is gone, you can have another one."

Liu Changqing shook his head painfully, his voice pleading, "Mom, please stop talking, please keep your voice down, Qunfang and the child are resting in the room!"

Hearing her son say this, Fang Shuxiang's voice grew louder and louder: "Son, you must listen to your mother. If you can't bear it, then leave it to me. I'll find a way to send this child away. You two can have a healthy baby!"

"Mom, I can't listen to you. Please go back first and let me have some peace and quiet."

Liu Changqing felt a wave of helplessness and irritation. He forcefully pushed Fang Shuxiang out the door, stood alone at the doorway where the wind and snow were getting heavier, lit a cigarette, took a deep drag, and tried to calm his chaotic emotions.

When he stepped back into the room, he met He Qunfang's gaze.

He Qunfang said excitedly and firmly, "Changqing, this is our son. He is just underdeveloped, not a freak! No matter what, we will raise him to adulthood. I don't want you to have any other thoughts, otherwise, I will never forgive you."

After saying this, she began to sob softly, her already pale face turning even paler.

She hugged the baby tightly in her arms.

Just now, her mother-in-law, Fang Shuxiang, deliberately shouted loudly outside, just so that He Qunfang could hear her.

In those difficult times, every family faced enormous pressure to make a living. They couldn't even get enough to eat, so who would want to raise a useless person?

Therefore, some babies who are born with defects or appear unhealthy are often abandoned by their families out of desperation.

He Qunfang was terrified, fearing that her child would also be ruthlessly abandoned by her family.

Therefore, she warned Liu Changqing in advance.

Liu Changqing frowned, his heart filled with sorrow and heaviness. He knew the cruelty of this era, but he was even more aware of his responsibility as a father.

He looked at He Qunfang and said gently, "Qunfang, don't worry! This is our child, how could I not want him? I will do my best to protect and raise him so that he can grow up healthy. Rest assured and don't overthink things."

Then, Liu Changqing turned and went to the kitchen, and soon brought out a large bowl of steaming hot egg noodles.

He carefully fed it to He Qunfang and the little girl Liu Yue.

In the courtyard, Old Man Liu sighed and muttered to himself, "How could this be? The magpie's arrival is clearly a good omen!" After saying this, he walked away listlessly.

Old Man Liu desperately hoped that his three daughters-in-law would give the Liu family more grandchildren, but often the greater the expectation, the greater the disappointment.

The little girl didn't understand the adults' troubles. Seeing that her parents ignored her and no one played with her, she ran outside and happily played in the snow.

A short while later, Liu Changqing discovered her and brought her back.

He gently closed the door; the snow was still falling outside.

At this moment, Liu Feng, lying in He Qunfang's arms, looked completely bewildered, not knowing what had happened.

He was filled with confusion: "Didn't I jump off the South Bridge? Where am I? How did I turn back into a baby?"

"Why are my parents so young? And this little girl, could she be my sister Liu Yue?"

"Have I been reborn?" Liu Feng thought, his heart filled with excitement.

If he has truly been reborn this time, he vows to start anew.

He must study hard! He wants to make something of himself!

He also wants to marry a virtuous wife who is filial to his parents, and live a happy life with them!

Liu Feng hopes that his family and those who care about him can live a carefree life.

No longer bowing down to life, no longer kneeling before money, no longer tormented by illness...

"Why can't I move my hands and feet? Reborn as a paralyzed baby? No, I was a healthy baby when I was a child. How did I get reborn as an infant and now my hands and feet are crippled?"

Thinking this, before long, drowsiness overcame his small body, and he fell asleep.

When he woke up again, He Qunfang was breastfeeding him.

At this time, Liu Feng's limbs were still weak and powerless, and he could only move his fingers slightly, which was not much different from being completely paralyzed.

However, his senses were extremely sharp, and his mind was exceptionally clear.

He could clearly hear Mao Qunfang's heartbeat, feel the howling of the cold wind outside, and hear the snowflakes gently falling on the tiles.

For several days in a row, Liu Feng felt that everything happening was so real, not like a dream.

He began to believe that he had truly been reborn!

He thanks God for giving him this opportunity. He will make up for all the regrets and resentments from his past life!

So what if he's disabled? Even if he's confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life, he'll still live a vibrant life.

He believed that if something as bizarre as rebirth could happen to him, what else in this world was impossible?

He had many guesses about being reborn with crippled limbs: Had the world he was reborn into changed? Or something else?

Perhaps it's related to the golden light he saw before his rebirth? What was that golden light? Could it be related to his migraines from his previous life?

Recalling…

Before his rebirth, the moment he jumped into the Nanda River, it was as if a dazzling golden light exploded in his mind, bursting forth with countless rays of light that enveloped his consciousness, instantly plunging him into darkness, whereupon he fell into silence.
