Chapter 38 Trying on New Clothes

The pheasant flapped its wings a few times and then collapsed to the ground. Liu Feng walked over and picked it up. He controlled his strength; the pheasant was only stunned and would wake up in a moment.

When Liu Feng bent down and picked up a pheasant, Liu Yue and Liu Fei, who were standing at a distance, finally understood that Liu Feng had gone to catch a pheasant.

A while ago, Liu Feng said he wanted to see if he could catch a pheasant, and less than fifteen minutes later, he actually caught one.

Upon seeing this, Liu Fei jumped up excitedly, "Second Brother, you're amazing! We're having pheasant tonight!"

Liu Yue looked at Liu Feng in surprise, "Second brother, how did you catch it?"

"Big sister, this is just a trivial skill. Your brother is much more capable! You just need to believe that your brother is capable of anything."

Liu Feng smiled smugly.

Liu Yue thought his second brother was teasing him and didn't take it seriously, just smiled.

When Liu Fei was about to pick up the pheasant, Liu Feng reminded him to hold on tightly to its wings. Liu Fei took the pheasant, and it woke up and started to struggle, but it couldn't break free because Liu Fei had its wings firmly in his grasp.

The three continued walking home, with Liu Fei carrying the pheasant and muttering to himself about how they would eat it that night.

On the country road, the laughter of the three seemed especially warm under the winter sun.

Back home, Liu Fei, carrying a pheasant, rushed to He Qunfang to share the good news.

He Qunfang's voice rang out from inside the house: "Where did you get this pheasant? Did Feng'er pay for it?"

"Mom, no money was given out, it was my second brother who arrested him!" Liu Fei quickly explained.

At this moment, Liu Feng and Liu Yue also entered the house.

Lunch is ready, and the food is on the table, waiting for them to come back and eat.

He Qunfang quickly took the pheasant from Liu Fei's hand, weighed it in her hand and estimated it to be two or three pounds. She was overjoyed and asked Liu Changqing to bring a cleaver and a bowl. She immediately slaughtered and bled the pheasant.

After killing the pheasant, everyone washed their hands and started eating together. He Qunfang asked Liu Feng curiously how he caught the pheasant.

Liu Yue and the others ate several meat buns on the street at noon. They weren't very hungry, so they put down their bowls after a few bites.

They were still thinking about what was in the snakeskin bag. He Qunfang, they had just returned and were about to cook dinner, but hadn't had time to open it yet.

Liu Fei and Liu Yue carried the snakeskin bag to the middle of the room and eagerly used scissors to open the bag, immediately revealing its contents.

He Qunfang also came over with her rice bowl in hand.

Seeing the pair of shoes being taken out of the bag, and then another pair, she opened her mouth in surprise, put down her bowl, and said, "Why did you buy so many shoes?"

"Why did you buy these for me and your dad too? How much did that cost?! Do you even know what shoe size your dad and I wear?"

Upon hearing He Qunfang's reproachful voice, the siblings stopped taking things out of the snakeskin bag!

They had bought so many things today, and now their parents were scolding them, so they were already feeling uneasy. But when they looked at Liu Feng and saw his calm expression, they felt relieved.

"Mom, you and Dad try them on and see if they fit. Don't worry about spending money, your son will definitely take care of you when he has money!"

Perhaps it was Liu Feng's comment that "his son is rich" that silenced He Qunfang's anger.

Liu Feng handed He Qunfang a pair of all-yellow "fuzzy shoes" for her to try on.

These furry shoes come in two colors: one is all-yellow cowhide, and the other is military green color-blocked.

I took off my cloth shoes and put on the yellow woolen shoes. Stepping on the soft wool inside, I felt warm and cozy, a warmth that went straight to my heart.

"Mom, how is it? Is the size right?" Liu Feng could tell at a glance. With his cultivator's intuition, how could the shoes he chose not be the right size!

"Perfect, perfect, you're the only one who knows how to give money!" He Qunfang thought sweetly.

He then said to Liu Changqing, "Changqing, quickly try on the shoes your child bought you. If they don't fit, you'll have to find a shoe store to exchange them right away!"

Liu Changqing put on the newly bought shoes, which fit perfectly. Suddenly, he felt as if he had grown taller, and his feet felt warm and comfortable.

Seeing my parents made me very happy.

Liu Yue and Liu Fei continued, taking things out of the snakeskin bag. Every time they took something out, He Qunfang glared at them.

There was a huge pile of things: combs, hair ties, small mirrors, little frogs, rubber bands, scarves, glass marbles, gloves, small alarm clocks, candy, etc.

Liu Yue felt embarrassed, but luckily Liu Feng gave her a reassuring look, and her second brother and youngest brother helped her share the pressure.

Finally, when Liu Yue took out the clothes, He Qunfang could no longer contain her excitement and suddenly stood up from her chair.

She spotted it immediately—the bright red wool coat. Her eyes were instantly drawn to it, and she instinctively reached out to take the long-desired garment, her heart filled with joy.

Looking back, more than a decade has passed since He Qunfang married Liu Changqing, but she has never bought a decent piece of clothing.

Her wardrobe was filled with old, patched-up clothes that had accompanied her through countless ordinary days.

Whenever she sees others wearing glamorous clothes, her heart is always filled with envy and longing.

At the time, when she tried on this red wool coat in the clothing store, she was immediately captivated. If it weren't for the high price, she would have definitely bought it.

On her way home, He Qunfang was still thinking about that red woolen coat. She fantasized about how wonderful it would be to wear it back to her parents' home!

A faint smile unconsciously appeared on her lips, but it quickly turned into a wry smile as she complained, "Why are those clothes so expensive! Are they made of gold?"

At this moment, Liu Changqing looked at the clothes that He Qunfang was clutching tightly in her hands. He breathed a sigh of relief, a smile appeared on his lips, and he said softly, "Qunfang, try it on again and see how it looks."

Upon hearing this, He Qunfang's face broke into a smile.

She took off her old clothes and put on that bright red woolen coat.

Black slim-fit trousers accentuated her long legs, and she wore classic leather fur shoes, instantly elevating her overall look and making her appear beautiful and fashionable.

Seeing this, Liu Yue thoughtfully brought over a newly bought beige scarf and gently draped it around He Qunfang's neck.

The scarf, with its soft texture and gentle color, complements the red wool coat perfectly, making He Qunfang look even more fresh and bright, exuding an elegant and clean temperament.

"Dad, look at Mom! Doesn't she look even more beautiful now?" Liu Yue said happily, pointing at He Qunfang to Liu Changqing.

Looking at his wife's transformed appearance, Liu Changqing's eyes were full of admiration and love. He nodded and smiled, "You've definitely become more beautiful."
