Chapter 58 Overcoming the Barrier of Drinking with Heroic Spirit

Brother-in-law Zhang Wei stepped forward carrying a jar of wine, beaming, and deliberately said loudly, "Brother-in-law, I know you can hold your liquor well. What you drank earlier was just an appetizer. If you don't finish this jar today, how can you be considered to have passed the test?"

Liu Feng raised an eyebrow and feigned surprise, saying, "Brother-in-law, I heard that when you were marrying my sister, you passed out drunk as soon as you arrived at the gate. Are you trying to make me follow in your footsteps?"

Upon hearing Liu Feng expose his shortcomings in public, Zhang Wei's face flushed red. Although somewhat embarrassed, he forced himself to remain calm and said, "Brother-in-law, what are you saying? I was just testing you. Come on, let's drink until we drop today!"

As he spoke, he eagerly handed the wine jar to Liu Feng.

Looking at the jar of wine in front of him, Liu Feng thought to himself: This brother-in-law is really reckless. How can a brother-in-law test his sister's drinking on such a joyous occasion? If he really drinks until he's drunk, it will be terrible if it delays the important matters later.

Thinking of this, a smile appeared on Liu Feng's face. He took the wine jar, lowered his head and sniffed it; the aroma of the wine was irresistible.

Then, he turned to the crowd of onlookers and said with great pride, "Thank you all for your warm hospitality. Today, I, Liu Feng, am truly fortunate to marry the Yu family's daughter. If you all wish to drink with me, let's use the number of jars as the measure. You drink as many jars as I drink, how about that?"

As soon as he finished speaking, the crowd erupted in laughter and applause. Everyone seemed to be infected by Liu Feng's boldness, and the atmosphere became even more enthusiastic.

So, some busybodies hurriedly brought over a few more jars. Each jar of wine weighed about two jin (approximately 1 kg) and was a type of liquor carefully brewed by the locals using high-quality wheat and sorghum, with an alcohol content of over fifty degrees.

The old man wanted to stop them, but the crowd was too excited and eager to see if the groom would still look good after getting drunk.

Yu Jingya was concerned about the groom's situation outside. After hearing Yu Liang's report, she immediately became restless and rushed to find her older sister, Yu Jingmin, who was very angry about her brother-in-law's behavior.

Over here, Liu Feng looked at Zhang Wei and said, "Brother-in-law, since you are in such a good mood, let's each drink a jar first."

Zhang Wei was stunned when he heard this. He originally wanted to embarrass Liu Feng, but he didn't expect Liu Feng to turn the tables and drag him into this "drinking battle" as well.

He could only pat his chest and say loudly, "Alright! Brother-in-law, then I'll stick with you to the end today!"

Seeing this, the surrounding relatives and friends cheered and applauded, pushing the atmosphere to a climax. Some relatives and friends also raised their glasses to toast Liu Feng in return.

The whole scene was incredibly lively.

Under everyone's watchful eyes, Liu Feng raised the wine jar high and said, "I am overjoyed to marry Jingya. I would like to drink this jar of wine to thank all my relatives and friends once again." After saying this, he raised his glass to the sky, then tilted his head back and drank it down, the wine flowing into Liu Feng's mouth like a gentle stream.

Immediately, enthusiastic cheers and applause erupted all around, with everyone applauding Liu Feng's boldness and drinking capacity.

Zhang Wei, who was standing to the side, stopped refusing, picked up the wine jar, and forced himself to drink it down. However, his movements were a little clumsy, and the wine spilled all over the ground. His face became redder and redder, and the drunkenness gradually crept into his heart.

Liu Feng, however, remained calm and effortlessly downed the entire wine jar in one gulp, leaving not a drop. Then, he called out loudly to everyone, "Who else?"

The entire room fell silent. Everyone was amazed by Liu Feng's drinking capacity, and no one dared to challenge him anymore.

Seeing this, the old man quickly walked up to Liu Feng, patted him on the shoulder, and said with a smile, "Well done! You have shown the courage and heroism that a son-in-law of the Yu family should have. Now, I declare that you have perfectly passed the drinking contest!"

Immediately, everyone made way, indicating that Liu Feng could enter.

Liu Feng smiled and nodded to the old man, then turned to his other relatives and friends, bowing deeply to express his gratitude. Amidst applause and blessings, Liu Feng walked towards the door.
