Chapter 35: The Secret Book of the Old Days Unlocked
"To be able to leave behind such a spell model, what realm did the person who wrote the Secret Book of the Old Days reach?"
His fingertips gently stroked the cover of the old secret scripture hanging around his waist. For some reason, after an initial period of discomfort, he actually began to like the unique touch of the cover.
By the way, now that I have broken through to the first level, I should be able to unlock some new content.
His fingers paused for a moment, and then Avis simply sat cross-legged on the ground. He took the "Old Secret Scripture" from his waist, held it in his hand, and extended a trace of mental power to connect with it.
The familiar changes occurred again, but Anvis did not pay attention to the surrounding environment. He could feel that a part of the real content was opened to him! Behind the strange title page, about half the thickness of the book was still firmly "stuck together". Judging from its thickness, it seemed to be the main text of the poem before it was unsealed.
After flipping through the temporarily unreadable parts, Anvis saw for the first time another strange symbol that was different in shape from the symbol on the title page but also filled the entire page.
Unlike the title page, this page did not fascinate him. He even felt dizzy when he stared at the symbols for a little longer.
After checking his spiritual sea, he found no changes. He shook his head and turned the page.
There are two pages of content that can be flipped through later, and the content is still the previous abstract landscape paintings.
But when Avis stared at them, the lines of these landscape paintings began to slowly wriggle like living things, and then automatically combined into a completely new content in his mind.
The text recording these contents is different from the main text. It is a kind of distorted and powerful terrifying text, exuding an incomparably ancient aura.
Avis didn't know what civilization's language this was; he had never come into contact with it in any of his previous lives.
But at the first sight of them, he instinctively understood their meaning.
Those are two spells:
[Touch of Distortion] and [Flesh Manipulation]
The effect of [Twistful Touch] is to summon a dark tentacle constructed of magic power to tightly wrap the enemy. Enemies who touch the tentacle will hear strange whispers in their minds.
This will reduce the enemy's rationality and cause severe mental interference. Enemies with low willpower will be unable to cast spells.
As the enemy's contact time with the tentacles increases, the whispering sound in the heart will become stronger and stronger. Even if the enemy is separated from the tentacles, the whispering effect will not disappear immediately, but will gradually weaken as it appeared.
[Flesh Manipulation] can be used to control the flesh and blood of the recipient. However, the recipient must be touched by the holder and must be of a lower level than the caster, or have no resistance.
The practitioner can choose between mild transformation or devastating distortion.
Furthermore, this spell can be used on yourself.
Avis instantly understood the nature of the two spells. He could cast the two spells based on his instinct, but there were no models in his spiritual sea, nor were there any casting gestures or spells.
'There is no model, nor any spells or gestures. Rather than being a spell, it is more like a spell-like ability like a bloodline talent.'
When he thought of this, for some reason, a strange idea suddenly popped up in Anvis' mind.
"No, there may be spells and hand gestures, but it is probably not something that the human body can do..."
He dispelled the thoughts in his mind and casually cast a twisting touch. A black tentacle as thick as a wrist emerged from the ground and squirmed slightly in the air.
Looking at the tentacle carefully, Avis tried to manipulate it to roll up a stone, and the tentacle did it easily.
He then tried to use his tentacles to roll up heavier objects, until he finally tried the cage containing the Ooboros, when the tentacles began to show signs of weakness.
He tried touching the tentacle again, and a faint voice sounded in his mind, which was very similar to the whispering voice he heard when he first read the old secret book, but it did not cause any adverse effects on Avis.
"The power is probably equivalent to that of a first-level peak warrior. I just don't know what effect this whisper will have on other creatures."
Thinking of this, Avis couldn't help but look at those beasts again.
"Just you—"
"Hmph!——"
He caught another beast, yes, the one with white stripes - Avis thought it looked more pleasing to the eye.
The beast was once again placed on the ground by the wizard's hand, and then was firmly bound to the spot by the binding magic circle. It turned its head listlessly to look around, and shook its round tail.
Then, a slippery black tentacle suddenly emerged from its side and fiercely wrapped around its thigh.
"Hmph! Hmph!"
The beast was frightened and immediately wanted to break free, but due to the binding magic circle, it could only passively endure the entanglement of the tentacles.
As time went on, the beast became noticeably more agitated, and struggled all over.
"So, the effect is similar to mania? Or mental confusion?"
Canceling the Touch of Distortion, Anvis pointed his staff at the forehead of the beast and cast a sleeping spell.
A magical wave flashed and passed by, and the beast suddenly fell to the ground in a daze, snoring with saliva flowing from the corners of its mouth.
Seeing that the beast had fallen asleep, Avis reached out and pressed the white stripes on its back, activating the flesh and blood manipulation.
Visibly, the skin on the back of the beast began to wriggle, and the straight white stripes began to fold and bend, connecting end to end...
Finally it became a heart shape.
Avis chose a gentle transformation. In his perception, the effect of flesh and blood manipulation was not simply to transform the surface skin, but to completely change the arrangement of the deep flesh and blood.
During this process, the beast showed no reaction, which means that the transformation was probably painless or not very painful.
The effect of low-level sleeping spells is not strong. If the pain is too intense, the beast that is hit by the sleeping spell is likely to be awakened.
And, most importantly, although these flesh and blood tissues had been moved significantly, they seemed to have grown there originally, without any adverse reactions!
Avis was certain that the magic effect would end once he ended the flesh and blood manipulation.
This proves one thing: the reason why these flesh and blood remain active is not magic, but that they can carry out normal nutrient circulation like other ordinary flesh and blood tissues! You know, although many spellcasters can achieve this level, they are at least level six spellcasters and have deep research on biological transformation.
And a spell like this one, which allows a first-level wizard who has only a vague understanding of biological transformation to make this level of transformation almost instinctively, was something that even little Anvis in his previous life had never heard of.
In order to confirm the subsequent changes, Avis ordered his men to keep the beast in a separate place and observe it for a period of time.
